Linda - you'll need a holiday to get over your trip. It all sounds very tiring. :-(

We've had one of those running around and accomplishing nothing days. Very annoying :-|

We've been watching the incredible weather patterns in the U.S. on the news. Here in Australia we have areas with severe frosts, snow in Queensland, heavy rain and areas going through severe drought who are praying desperately for rain. Where we are has warmed up a little but still winters. We are off to Hobart the weekend after next to visit our son and grandson for a few days - I'm questioning our sanity :-S

Agh, my feet are killing me

We spent all day in the Magic Kingdom, Eve loved it of course, but it was so hot and humid that she was really tired. We actually hired a pushchair foe Eve as she was too tired to walk and wanted carrying

It is the girls daddies birthday today, so they have just gone out for a drink, so we are baby sitting. We have rooms with a communicating door which makes things easier

I was hoping for a day in the pool to,recover tomorrow. We had planned to go into the parks every other day as we have a three day ticket, with a rest day in between, but some vague cousin of the girls da addy is coming to see them, so to a accommodate them, we will haVe to do Another pArk day tomorrow, I don't think my legs will cope.

LA picked up the tail end of some hurricane which is why the airport was closed for a few hours and we were delayed, but it is back to normal now

Hi Sue

There have been some very heavy rains in California over the last day or so.

I don't know whether that is affecting LA ....................

but I wish they'd send some rain up here!!

Vancouver declared Stage 3 drought conditions yesterday, so more water use restrictions are in place :-(

Hello all :-)

I've been very busy with my volunteer work over this week - I thought I had better check in.

My son comes home on Saturday. I hope the weather is better in LA as that's where he flies to Sydney from. That's one thing you can't control.

Hope everyone is well - the thread isn't very active at the moment but we keep it moving however slowly <3

We are in Disney now after yet another flight delay. We were stuck in Seattle for two and a half hours because of bad weather In LA, so it was late when we finally arrived, poor Eve was fast asleep on the aircraft and transit bus

They slept in this morning, her parents that is! We have just spent the rest of the morning in the Downtown Disney area which is right next to the hotel, an expensive princess headdress was purchased and we had lunch. We are going to play in the pool thus afternoon before hopefully getting an early night so we can do the Magic Kingdom tomorrow

Linda ..........

it must be so good fro them to be making that contact with the other families. I hope they manage to maintain it after the meeting is over. Shared experiences can be so helpful.

I hope you are now enjoying LA

Sue ............. how sad :-(

Persie .... I think I've had similar conversations with Oh :-D

It was hot again over the weekend, so it was another 2 days of being either in the bedroom with 2 fans or in the north-facing living room with one fan in the late afternoon.

It is much cooler this morning ........ we have Marine Cloud, which is due to burn off by this afternoon.

SueMaid Report 20 Jul 2015 07:41

Oh dear Persie - I shouldn't laugh but.... :-D :-D

Took a lady who has been in hospital for 8 weeks back home to sort out her stuff before she and her husband go into a nursing home. Very sad as she has to leave her dog behind :-(

Thank you for your congratulations - I will pass them on to my son.

Went and looked at a couple of houses late yesterday and then came home in the dark where he decided to use the back roads, that we sometimes go down to Cambridge on..... took us a while to get home, took a couple of wrong turns and had to go back to "a know where he went wrong bit' and kept stopping to check the map. Bit like a board game : Took wrong turn go back to the pond.. miss a turn go back to where the big cowshed is... etc

Even the last turn we had to do before getting back on main road, I said go right and he said no it is left, and I said well look over on the right there is the expressway coming North and we have to meet the traffic off it. If you looked left it was just pitch dark. When we drove over the top of the motorway he said oh that lot are coming north I got it back to front.

One time when we met a T junction and had to stop, he sat there waiting and I said what are you waiting for nothing is coming, and he said I saw a light over there and I said yes we will just wait till the house goes by. There are no street lights out in the country.

They do know quite a bit of the stuff Sylvia, but have learnt some new things. It is doing them good to spend time with the other families, with so few diagnosed cases, it is quite a lonely experience

I a sitting in the dark in the corner of the bedroom Babysitting while The girls are sleeping. Esme is rustling, so I hope her parents won't be too much longer, I am tired in any case after a hard day's play.

We have been near the market Sylvia, but haven't been in. The restaurants on the waterside looked good when we passed them on the duck your, they are buildings new sea wall and smartening the area up

Hi

it's warming up again here!

Sue ...... that is really good news about your son xxx

Linda .......... how is the meeting? Are your daughter and s-i-l learning anything?

We haven't been to Seattle for many years. I think the last time I stayed there was about 1996/97 when my daughter had to go down and interview someone for her Honours thesis. We went down together, and stayed just outside Seattle, then drove into the downtown not far from the Pike Place Fish Market. She went to do her interview, and I wandered around, even watching the fish men tossing around the fish :-D.

The we had a really nice early dinner at an outside fish restaurant ;-D

We visited an outlet mall on our way home ........... but resisted buying too much

OH stayed home, so it was a lovely Mother-daughter outing.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jul 2015 01:04

Oh that is lovely Sue, give our congratulations to him

We have been into Seattle centre again and spent all day in a children's museum. It was excellent and Eve had a brilliant time indulging in non stop imaginative play. It was sad to see lots of children just wandering around without knowing how to play

Eves parents have been in lectures all day. Esme was supposed to be in the Crèche but I don't think she will have been impressed by that

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Jul 2015 00:29

Isn't it amazing that children rise at dawn so often but not when you need them to. Do they do that on purpose? :-|

Yesterday we went for a drive up into the highlands. Perishing cold but always a lovely drive. There were remnants of snow in some areas. Later in the evening my daughter sent a message to say they had taken the children to see the snow and they had loved it.

Today I need to catch up on some housework as I have had a busy week and have only done the basics. I would love to get into the garden but it's really too cold so that will have to keep.

Now for some really nice news. My youngest son who is in Florida at the moment has proposed to his girlfriend. Much happiness in the family :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Jul 2015 15:35

Another dawn, another day. I am waiting for Eve to wake up. They set an alarm this morning for seven am as they need an early breakfast before the lectures start for the day.. They just couldn't sauce Eve up, so I have come through to their room until she wakes. Esme was howling while they got her ready, but Eve slept on regardless. I think we may go into Seattle for the day to a children's museum, rather than have to stay in the pool again

it does indeed make a change :-D :-D

We will be leaving Seattle on Sunday and going. Back to LA for a week, so it will be even hotter there

Poor Sue freezing away while we have been playing in the icy cold pool all day. Hmm something not quite right there

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 17 Jul 2015 01:07

I'm sorry ot hear about your cold weather "down under" ..............

but I would really love some cooler weather up here :-)

It's getting hot again for this weekend ........... it could be as high as 30C away from the water on Saturday and Sunday.

I'm not sure what the forecast is for Seattle .............. it's only about 2½ hours away, so probably similar

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 17 Jul 2015 00:11

Wet, cold and windy.......aarrgghh :-S

Persephone

Persephone Report 16 Jul 2015 13:38

Yes we have had a bit of the Antarctic blast but it has been colder in Northland than it has been here.. My cousin up there took photographs of the icy frosts up there.

Linda, my family did the Duck tour in Queensland.. and when it went in the water the driver let the grandchildren take a turn at driving it.

This was when Evan was only little about four - five and he got to touch an owl and held a snake. He was most impressed with Aussie fauna. I can imagine Eve would be enjoying herself.

I reckon Tec has been treated quite badly over this whole business and now taking Archie away as well.
