Hi everyone....here is the latest on Tec....seems a bit better....

just called Tec this afternoon and he is trying to keep upbeat and has some pain even though still on morphine. He doesn't like to stay in bed,up at 7.am,very independent.

His daughter came on Sunday and got a lot of shopping in and filled his freezer...don't think she's coming this weekend...

His neighbour is very good, occasionally taking him out for a ride to garden centres and having a meal and the village shop will drop off any extra things he needs.
He even copes with the vacuum cleaner while sitting in his wheelchair and has a long duster on a pole!

The duchess hasn't made any sign that she has noticed he hasn't any legs.he thinks she is in her own little world which is a good thing that she is settled in the home.

He did seem brighter than the last time I spoke to him and he asked me to let you know how he is and sends you all his good wishes and thinking of you.

He is still tending his garden
and loving his pond.

Will keep you posted when I've spoken to him...Brenda xx <3 <3

Was snowing on top of Mt Wellington when I was up there along with a cold wind.. Next day sunny as and the mountain had no snow on top.

One of my friends in the UK did not realise we had snow here. In fact this winter there has been more than our fair share of that commodity down in the South Island.

August, plays car games etc and builds lego things.. His father is an excellent game player with him and they get involved in some sort of outing every weekend and now Stellan goes along as well to play in the park etc.

Lovely photo of Aiden and his granddad Sue. Aiden is obviously very happy to have you two down for the visit.

Linda there is a princess page on FB you might like to join.

Wow - a hair party :-D Sounds like such fun ;-)

Aimee and I have nail and hair sessions. She loves that and then I have to take photos. We haven't been able to do much with Aiden this trip. He has splints on his legs teaching him to walk again and he tires easily. Also it's been cold and wet and we are concerned about him slipping.

We got up to light snow although it was melting straight away. My son lives in the valley underneath the mountains which are covered in snow. OH says he will take me for a drive later to have a look at the snow......maybe. He doesn't have fond memories of snow :-(

You should chat on Skype or Face Time, then you could see him.

Eve's mum has called her every evening during the week and morning and evening over the weekend Eve isn't bothered about talking to them as it interrupts her game. It is good that she is happy to be with us and isn't homesick at all

I had better get my sleep as apparently we are having a hair party in the morning. When it was her bedtime, she made me get ready for bed as well I then did lots of plaits in her hair and she put lots of slides into mine We were then going to have some sort of hair party, only I insisted it was bedtime, so apparently we are continuing it in the morning, I can't wait :-D

:-D :-D :-D

My grandson doesn't ask either of us to join in his games when we are together, and he doesn't do that too much with his parents either .........

but he does tell you these long convoluted stories that go on and on. OH and I usually have very little idea of what it is all about ............ especially when he is on the other end of the phone and we can't see him or what he is holding!

Daughter is trying to get him to tell the essence of the story!

She Is just a softie Sylvia :-D

This afternoon we went swimming, we seem to have done lots of that lately

Then we played in the garden again, her daft games go on for a couple of hours, she is Aurora, I am Elsa, we marry our princes, then we have babies and look after them. It is far more convoluted of course

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 2 Aug 2015 18:03

bit chilly then Sue??

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 2 Aug 2015 12:59

Aiden is very easy although he talks nonstop and expects you to know who and what he is talking about.

It is soooo cold :-(. Now there is more snow on Mt. Wellington and the wind is blowing straight down from the mountain. Our son has just come in from work and he has icicles hanging from his nose...no really ;-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Aug 2015 18:41

A brief respite as she watches a dvd. We did some. Baking this afternoon as it started raining, so the cup cakes are being sampled now

We acted out Cinderella this afternoon as well as Snow White :-(

I think Aiden will be a bit past that stage, so Sue should have an easier time

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 1 Aug 2015 00:08

Eve is certainly imaginative - as tiring as it must be it is something to be valued :-D

Thank you for asking Sylvia. Aiden is a little trooper. His doctor told him that he must do as he says and he will get better everyday. With little prompting from his parents he is doing just that. The doctor is very pleased with his progress.

It is very cold here but our son's house is equipped for that and it is very cosy :-)

Linda ...............

no worries!!

Enjoy being whatever Eve wants in her games. She certainly has an excellent imagination!

SylviaInCanada Report 31 Jul 2015 17:17

Hi Sue ................

would you like some of our heat???

It is going to be another VERY hot one today, and yes, it is beginning to get to me again :-(

How is Aidan doing? Can he walk short distances with his braces on, or is he restricted to sedentary pursuits?

Do enjoy your time with him :-D

Linda ............ have fun with Eve .......... although I know you will!!

OH got home last night about 10 pm, after a 14 hour drive from Edmonton, he and his colleague did share the driving so that made it easier. But they only stopped for a late breakfast and then a late lunch, having cold drinks and snacks as they drove the rest of the time.

If I'm with him, I insist that we stop about every 2 hours so he can get out and stretch his legs! This time, he complained that his feet and legs felt "all prickly" because they had been in the same, or very similar, positions whether driving or not.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 31 Jul 2015 17:16

Thank you for that Sylvia, I usually do copy it over, but it is a constant game of pretend I am a princess and you are a wicked witch here. Or some other combination of her imaginative games

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 Jul 2015 17:11

Linda .......

I hope you don't mind, but I have posted your 18:42 post about Tec, and a little much edited bit of what you said later, over to the Welsh thread.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 31 Jul 2015 12:28

We are indeed in Hobart :-D It's freezing cold but we are nice and warm indoors. As Aiden still has braces on his legs so we won't be doing too much but that's fine.

I'm sorry to hear that things are still not improving for Tec. What a worry - I so hoped he would see some improvement with his leg.

Hope everyone is well and that you are not too tired playing with your little dynamo, Linda. I also hope the heat isn't getting to you Sylvia.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 31 Jul 2015 10:32

Sue must be in Hobart now, I hope she has a lovely time.

I am wAiting for Eve to wake up ad downloadingWINDOWS 10 onto my laptop at the same time. It is about 30% installed at the moment. I hope it goes smoothly and that the peripherals such as the printer still works

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 31 Jul 2015 10:27

He always tries to sound optimistic but this time Ihe was more downbeat. I think he is struggling to cope because he feels so ill, his daughter has stopped working so I had hoped she could be there more often, but she has given her car too his granddaughter who is starting a new job and needs a car..his daughter won't drive her husbands car so they are only coming for the day on a Saturday

He has sold his own car as he cant use it, his daughter wouldn't drive that either as she thought it was too big, which it wasn't really, she must be a nervous driver

He said the nurses hoped that his leg would start to improve now, I certainly hope so

SylviaInCanada Report 30 Jul 2015 19:23

Thank you, Linda

It's encouraging that he still sounds cheerful, but discouraging that he still does not feel well enough to be on here

Mind you, I did experience a little bit of what he must be going through the other week :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Jul 2015 18:42

I managed to have a chat with Tec this morning. He said that he has not been well, with more antibiotics this week. He hasn't opened his lap top for a couple of weeks. Despite everything he was still cheery. I told him all the news from everyone and he passes on his love as usual

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Jul 2015 20:32

We did all sleep through Sylvia, Eve didn't wake up until 8.15am It has been non stop play all day and I still feel oddly jet lagged, so I hope we have another good night.

OH is going walking tomorrow,so I will have her all on my own, I am planning to visit a park which has a butterfly house and a good playground.

You are being very intrepid Sylvia, but I don't blame you for staying put in the heat, it seems to be very cold here in comparison to where we have been.
