oh, I hate it when they have problems finding the veins. I also have quite difficult ones, but luckily the current guy at our clinic is good!

It is actually getting cooler here, but still no rain

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Aug 2015 19:07

Well you can't have too many meals out in my opinion :-D

I was over optimistic about the weather this morning as it has been raining all day

I had to go for a blood test, so I took the car instead of walking. I had to park on the far side of the car park, it wasn't far, but as the rain was of monsoon proportions, I was drenched by the time I got in

The phlebotomist was on holiday, so the nurses were doing the tests. I have very difficult veins to find, so the first nurse had to give up after mauling one arm. She got someone else to try in the other arm and thankfully she managed

Hi

Linda ............ thank you.

I'm feeling a lot better, that constant nausea has finally gone :-)

AND, the weather is a lot cooler today, with showers in the forecast. A forecast high of 21C is really a lot more comfortable than 30C :-)

It's OH's birthday next Tuesday, and I have to take him out for dinner .......... we'll re-arrange our special anniversary dinner for after that :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Aug 2015 09:41

Oh dear, I hope you fel better today Sylvia, it is a shame that you had to postpone your meal

The rain has been pounding down all night long, but it seems to be easing up now and it is now just drizzling

Hi everyone

I'm so glad to hear that Tec is back in the hospital, I hope they now find out what is wrong, AND get that infection cleared up.

had a little return of some of the symptoms from the antibiotic ............... so we had to cancel going out for our anniversary dinner last night (Wednesday) :-(

It also wasn't helped by the fact that we were back in hot weather again!

I would love to come back - I miss you <3. The pickled beetroot is definitely a temptation too :-D

Thank you ladies for the birthday greetings for my daughter :-)

Persephone Report 13 Aug 2015 23:38

I have a recipe for chocolate cake that is made with beetroot.

Happy Birthday to your lovely daughter Sue.. xx

Happy birthday to your daughter Sue

There is masses of pickled beetroot so I think that you had better come back again :-D

SueMaid Report 13 Aug 2015 14:52

What a worry our Tec is but I'm glad he is back in hospital. Hopefully something will be done....and quickly. This must be sapping all of Tec's energy :-(

We love beetroot - pickled or as a roast vegetable with a balsamic glaze.

We had a lovely meal at our daughter's home today. It is her birthday so we also had cake. I think the children were more excited than she was :-D

Oh poor Tec...is he in local hospital Linda?..or had to go back to the big one.
Where ever I just hope they can sort him out.

I think he has been left too much with just the district nurse coming to do his dressings.he isn't a complainer ...maybe he should have pushed a bit more to get something done?...don't really know, but I have learned that these days you have to really insist if you want attention.

Thank you for letting us know Linda...I was going to call him,but now will wait for news on here.
Pass on my good wishes please and hope he is soon home and feeling better..

I like beetroot, we eat a lot of it, but with being away, they grew too large, so ther is far too much of it

I think that I will give carrot vodka a miss if you dont mind, but they were very inventive during the war

Persephone

Persephone Report 13 Aug 2015 10:28

Thanks Linda for keeping us informed re Tec.. I do hope that gets sorted and then they keep him there and sort out his leg.

Beetroot stains on fabric is still a difficult one to get out. In Comrade Dad, ( dearly departed George Cole ) rationing is commonplace and the humble beetroot is the staple of most meals along with a mug of steaming hot conker coffee, but you can get some carrot vodka on the sly. Strange little series that one.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Aug 2015 10:03

I have just spoken to Tec's daughter He was admitted to hospital on Tuesday because the stomach problem was not improving. They were supposed to be doing tests yesterday but that didn't happen, so they are due today. They have not been letting him eat or drink because of the tests and that seems to have made him feel better, they were giving him supper last night, so hopefully that wont have set him off again.

His daughter has hired a car and is staying at his house as it is easier to get to the hospital from there

I hope they manage to find out what is wrong quickly and do something about it this time.

I asked her to pass on our love to him.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Aug 2015 09:34

I am indeed :-(

I have a very large pan, bigger than the old fashioned jam pans, so it is very heavy when full As I was pouring the very hot water out so the beetroot could cool, red water splashed everywhere, it was even on the ceiling Luckily those two splashes washed off the paint straight away, the rest was up the unit doors. I gave them a wipe, but need to do a proper clean today

Persephone

Persephone Report 12 Aug 2015 22:50

So messy, that's what you are Linda... ;-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Aug 2015 15:06

I have done another lot of beetroot today, so that is more or less the last of it. I have apple of rhubarb in the garage, I keep making crumbles

Tomorrow I will have to give the kitchen a good clean, the beetroot gets everywhere :-(

Persephone

Persephone Report 12 Aug 2015 02:32

That reminds me, I need to cook some rhubarb. Not fond of rhubarb but love beetroot. OH is the other way around loves rhubarb but not too fond of beetroot.

My last hair cut was a couple of weeks ago and I had not had it cut for ages. I thought it was going to be too cold around my ears afterwards and it was. I then wore my silly hat to keep my ears warm until I got used to the shortness again.

I agree Tec needs to be where he can get full care and attention and get this wound? cleared up completely none of these half measures which they seem to be doing.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Aug 2015 12:49

I am trying to catch up now. Yesterday I spiced lots of vinegar ready for the beetroot which OH picked this morning, I will cook and jar that this afternoon

I went and had my hair cut this morning, notbegore time as I could hardly see

I am glad that you are warming up Sue, but it means our summer is waning which is not good

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Aug 2015 11:13

It's sad to hear that our Tec is not well :-( Surely another stay in hospital is called for? He might be able to tolerate antibiotics better through a drip.

I can well imagine that the house is very quiet. I find that after having the children for a few days I love a peaceful house while missing them.

The days have been sunny here although still chilly. Our coldest winter for a long time. Thankfully there are signs of Spring in the garden and the days are getting longer.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Aug 2015 12:40

I spoke to Tec this morning, he wasn't very well, he has a bad stomach upset so had been up all night.

He said that his leg wasn't any better, but the nurses keep calling to dress it. He hasn't seen the Duchess as he cant get into his son in laws two seater car, but she is fine

As usual he was chirpy and asking after everyone
