Hi everyone

Linda .. thank you for the news re Tec.

I wonder if this is the reason for the further investigations ......... it is now known that 90 percent of duodenal ulcers (and 80% of other stomach ulcers) develop as a result of infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).

That means that the old treatments for ulcers do not work!

I do hope that his doctors are au fait with this research, and, perhaps more importantly, believe it to be true

I took OH out for dinner for his birthday last night .... we went to out local bistro-style place. We had a good meal as always.

The weather is hot again, with cooler temperatures due on Friday for a couple of days but not much rain in the forecast for us :-)

Poor Tec :-( He does seem to be very fragile. Hopefully something will be done about that ulcer.

Hope your OH is okay, Persie.

Another mild sunny day today. I found an old bamboo plant stand at the side of the road and OH spent some time putting a new top on it. He is very patient with my finds bless him :-D

He does sound very fragile. How is his leg or dare I ask?

We were on a follow up re his dental surgery today.. tomorrow we have to go to Auckland to the Heart Specialist.. his resting heart beat is on the slow side. When he had the dental surgery it went down to about 35 beats a minute. At the doctors last week it was still nearer 50 than 60 hence off for another ECG

I have just spoken to Tec, he came home on Sunday. They discovered that he had a weird stomach infection, but more seriously a duodenal ulcer which he had years ago and thought was cured was actually bleeding. They managed to stop that, but he has to have more investigations later

He said he feels better but fragile. I passed on all the news, he sends his love as usual

Well funny you should say that, but we do have a cup cake kit in the cupboard but we haven't needed to use it yet. There is always one there in case mummy needs to find something easy to do with her

She was up early this morning, as Esme woke her up. Esme was awake lots during the night, perfectly happy babbling away, but of course poor mummy was awake, even grandma heard her. Mummy doesn't work this morning,so she is asleep again, as is Esme

Grandad has just started painting again :-(

That is a crafty idea.

Tell her Nana Persie has suggested making Princess cup cakes. :-)

In Eves world the princess is definitely in charge :-D

Tomorrow we have to pick some flowers to soak them in water to make perfume

When Maia and Anya first met my other daughter's husband when he got back from UK. We could hear him out playing on our front verandah with the two girls... now Maia is one who is always in charge and she started to argue in the game with my SIL and he said to her you can't argue with me I am the mighty King I am in charge of all the land and I say this etc and she just went oh.. okay and got on with it.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Aug 2015 15:53

A joint venture Suei, but it let me cut the border back while we played
Today I took her swimming and the pool was full of witches trying to get us. We had to follow a pretend map to get out of the forest, but we kept going on witches paths. Other people just swim

OH has been busy decorating the bedroom Eve was supposed to move into months ago. If he doesn't do it she will never move in

SueMaid Report 18 Aug 2015 12:34

My goodness Linda - is that your imagination or Eve's :-0

The weather has been quite nice here - sunny and quite mild. The garden is starting to wake up. Our jasmine is blooming :-)

I have been busy with my volunteer work the last couple of days. Interviews and meetings - boring meetings. In October we have our AGM when our committee is voted in. I have been asked to stand for president again. I said an emphatic NO!!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Aug 2015 08:03

The start of another day and all is quiet as Wve ifs still asleep.

Yesterday we played princesses all morning. At one stage we had lost our princes and couldn't find them so we searched for them in the garden. A wicked witch had put a spell on the borders and turned them into thick forests full of thorns. So my princess cut out several bags of rubbish with secateurs while searching. Grandad king then cut the incredibly long grass later in the day

She is awake so more later

When I come on GR it starts with the latest on this thread so I never actually know which page it is on.

Fancy waiting to play Princesses..

I am off to do the day care collecting in September when my son-in-law goes to Melbourne with work for a few days. My daughter works a 4 day week (gets paid for 5) and we will do three day care collections and then she will have her day off and then SIL will be back so she can do the next day.

I could only get a 3 night stop over in Wellington at Lyall Bay and there was nothing available in the time frame at the apartments in the city. We won't be playing Princesses though.

I find I'm sleeping in a bit later but it's enough to miss anyone who comes on.

I shall make a bigger effort to post on our thread. I miss our funny chats :-)

Oh dear.....page 3 again ladies. Are we losing interest in the thread? And is it because Tec isn't around to keep us going?

I almost always have a bruise after having blood taken :-)

Persephone

Persephone Report 14 Aug 2015 23:27

My veins are easy peasy.. But I do tissue quite quickly when a drip has been placed through a vein in the top of my hand. When they do the one inside the elbow I set the alarm bells off in my sleep.. it is a stupid place to put a drip as you can't bend your arm... if they don't have it set up with the bells you can go for hours with nothing going in.

SueMaid Report 14 Aug 2015 23:09

Hello :-)

I'm glad you're feeling better Sylvia.

I don't seem to have problems with blood tests thankfully. I went to the doctor for a repeat prescription the other day and I was asked if I minded seeing a student doctor. No problem but she decided I needed a blood test although I had one six months ago and really only have the works yearly unless there's a problem. I think she just wanted to do it because she could :-)

Linda - OH was chatting with his brother and he also said the rain was like a monsoon. At that point he said they had had non stop rain for over 12 hours :-(
