That sounds like a fantastic trip for your daughter Sue. Do you get to look after the children?

Of course the Americans have it in for you Sylvia. Maybe you can get your own back sometime

It has been sunny here, but there is a definite nip in the air

I did Meals on Wheels today and ended up wit h more driving jobs while I was in the office

Ooh I also booked a holiday yesterday. We are going to Cyprus but not until the end of September

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 28 Aug 2015 16:40

we got rain ............ heavy rain, and it is going to be VERY heavy rain before the weekend is over!

Today is apparently the tail end of a tropical storm that hit Hawaii a few days ago.

The next lot is coming down from Alaska

do you think the Americans have it in for us? :-D

Unfortunately the ground is so dry and hard that most of the rain will likely run off instead of soaking in, and we face the possibility of flash flooding.

So - you finally got rain Sylvia. We also wanted rain and look what happened :-0. A veritable deluge!!

I went out and bought some plants today but no pots. Spring is around the corner so I want to put some colour into the garden. Won't be long before I am also pickling, freezing and making chutney, Linda :-)

My daughter is going to Nepal at the end of September to do 2 weeks volunteer work providing glasses to small villages. They are donated glasses. An optometrist travels with them. A great experience.

Thank you for the news Sue, it is good to keep in touch with him, but as you say, he tires easily, which is sad

Hello young Linda :-D

It has stopped raining but there are still areas that are affected by flooding.

I rang Tec tonight because I'm missing him. He sounded chirpy but tired quickly so I kept the call short. He sent his love to everyone.

Hello young Sue, I hope all is well in upside down land

It is sunny here, OH is out walking, I am supposed to be doing housework, but cant be bothered. I still have that large bucket of beans to do as I didn't get round to them yesterday, they will have to be done today though.. I can procrastinate a bit though as I need to go and buy OH a new sim free mobile phone. He only has a very basic one and makes very few calls, he never texts and doesn't need the internet.. His current phone which is a cast off from many years ago has stopped charging

Oh dear, I hope you don't have a soggy bottom Sue :-D

I have just been doing some more community driving, I did some yesterday as well, I haven't been able to do much lately so am trying to pitch in.

This morning I went next for for coffee and to cuddle the new twins who came home last week. They are doing well, mid five pounds now, but they are still so tiny

I made a huge vat of soup for the freezer yesterday and froze some beans. OH has just come back from the allotment with a bucket full of beans, so after I have a cup of coffee, I will have to do them :-(

Hello everyone from a very wet part of Oz. we have had rain, flooding, more rain, a dam bursting its banks, evacuations and more rain :-(

Thankfully all is well with us although our yard is very soggy.

That is because Tec is so special to us all Huia. It was our very great pleasure to visit him last year. For Linda, Tec and I to spend a day together was the highlight of our visit and our OH's enjoyed the day too. Something I will never forget :-)

Please give Tec my love and best wishes next time you talk to him, Linda or Brenda. I also worry about him. People all over the world are worrying about him!

BrendafromWales Report 24 Aug 2015 21:35

I'm sorry Linda.... I didn't mention anything private that he told me,but I did think that Tec should ask to see his consultant regarding his leg and what they can do to help it heal.as all the nurse does is come to dress it,
I didn't keep him long...just let him do the talking which he seemed to enjoy the contact.
I know that in North Wales we are having big problems getting to see a specialist.
I've just had a follow up appointment 3years late!

I don't know what this vine is but I think it re-earths itself and then starts up again further along, though on the other hand someone could have planted them as they are all along the border on the other side of the back fence.. well it is not much of a fence as the vines have played havoc with that as well. It is just a heavy wire netting type with iron waratah stakes at intervals linking it up and all the waratahs are rusty which is what happens with them.

Tec:
I do wonder why they don't amputate further up and let him have peace of mind, get his appetite back. This is a worry and I am not happy at all with what is going on. I am so glad you talk to him Linda. :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Aug 2015 20:25

It is a different consultant, not to do with his leg, he does tell me about what is happening, but I only post a small amount to respect his privacy

BrendafromWales Report 24 Aug 2015 20:06

That is strange Linda.....I called Tec this afternoon and he said that you had called.earlier.
I asked when he had an appointment to see his consultant and he told me that he had been discharged!!
I said he should ask to see him as his wound is still not healing and the nurse has increased his morphine just a bit today as the pain is very bad,but he is learning to live with it.
He wishes that they had amputated above his knee as he hasn't had the problems with that one as much as the latest..

He isn't enjoying his food much either...I did feel that he needs a bit more help and just hope they can make him more comfortable.

Such a nice chap, shame he is suffering like this...he did go and sit in his garden for a while watching his fish.he needs all our prayers and positive thoughts to get him on the road to recovery as soon as possible. <3 <3

persie ..............

I've only told Linda, on here :-D

Actually I haven't read the early books .............. I saw the first one that I bought, Fear in the Cotswolds, in a catalogue from a Book Remainders company that we deal with. It was I think about the 5th or 6th in the series. I bought my second one a couple of weeks ago, Shadows in the Cotswolds ............ published 2013 and I only paid Can$4.99 for it.

They seem to be basically stand alone in that usually only minor characters (eg her mother) reappear.

I like to read mysteries that are set in regions I know ....... if only to cuss out loud when the author gets geographical and local details wrong :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Aug 2015 19:15

Linda ...............

ugh, bindweed :-)

it's as much of a pest over here as in the UK

Thank you for letting us know about Tec. I'm keeping my fingers crossed ........... but it all seems to take sooooooooooo long :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Aug 2015 18:54

I had a chat to Tec today, he didn't sound very well. but he was trying to be cheery as usual. He said that he was waiting to go back to see a consultant on the 9th Sept

He asked after everyone and i passed on all the news I will keep in touch with him

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Aug 2015 09:48

I don't envy you that task Persie

In Eve's garden they have a plant called bind weed, when I first started pulling it out her daddy asked me why I was pulling out the plant with the nice white flowers as he quite liked it :-(

He is useless at gardening, even the grass only gets cut when OH goes down, so the bindweed has now killed a lovely clematis and a small tree. It was also just about to finish off a larger tree. I removed all of it from that tree last week, so hopefully it will survive, but the wed will grow back again and he wont pull it out

Eve has gone to her aunt's for this week, she was having a nic time last night bothering the cat

She then has just three days of the following week before she goes back to school, one of those days is a bank holiday, but that still leaves two unaccounted for, so I have just booked my train ticket to go down That will then be it until the October half term thank goodness
