Normally I read the reviews of others but this time I didn't.

I am surprised at that Sylvia, it was a winner of the Galaxy British Book Awards, and one of those Richard and Judy good reads.

I thought all the insights in to the various disfigurements and ailments that affected those with leprosy. Some who were riddled with it survived and others, who had very little outward signs did not always survive. The fact that they all moved off Spinalonga by 1957 and were cured. It is the way the town survived and it was one place where the Germans did not try to occupy during the war. I found the whole story interesting.. yes there was the little drama or two going on but the ins and outs and whys and wherefores were well covered. The mixture of fact and fiction worked well.

Hi Sue

The weather is easing off ................. another night of heavy rain, and then showers.

The airport (official weather station) got 58 mm rain from 28-31 August. The normal average for the month is around 36 mm :-S

The other side of the harbour, up against the mountains got over 120 mm in the same period

The wind on Saturday did the most damage .......... there were over 600,000 homes without power. That's the largest outage in one storm ever. There are still over 1,500 properties without power today, the most difficult ones of course.

They haven't yet managed to count the number of trees lost ............mainly deciduous ones. The drought meant that the soil was so dry that it couldn't provide support, and all the leaves that were still on the trees just acted almost like a "sail".

We were safe ......... no power lost although we had a few "flickers", and there as very little flooding in the city itself.

Thank you Linda <3

Yes I did buy new ones Persie. I re read the instructions and didn't think it was worth the effort. I was also concerned about the number of strong chemicals needed to do the job. Good luck with the house hunting :-)

I hope the weather is okay for you Sylvia.

Persie .............

good luck with the house lookie-loos

I hadn't heard of The Island before, so just googled it .......... goodreads.com reviews panned it! At least the first 6 reviews that I read :-(

..... and I haven't told anyone else about Rebecca Tope. You must have been spreading the word :-D

You would think GR would tell you which post Linda... I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary.

It was lovely to see Tec posting on here, and such a welcome surprise on the other hand am still concerned about his general health.

Pillows... so you did get some new ones Sue, after all this advice on how to make them like new again except for people with front loaders like me.

I have just read Victoria Hislop's "the Island" which is a fictional story mainly set on the island of Spinalonga which I new nothing about. It was extremely interesting and a great story. GlossieAnn suggested it.

Re your book Sylvia, there is now another person wanting to read the one library copy. Are you sure you haven't been spreading the word?

Me, I am going to house auctions and going down to Cambridge on open day Sundays. It has become my Sunday religion almost, well I don't have any other religious activity on Sundays. We are just sussing out for the sake of it as to what you get for your $$$$. I do hope, one day to be able to tell you that we are on the road again, trucking down to Cambridge for good.

Oh dear - this is very worrying :-( Thank you for the news, Linda.

I can't think why someone would have reported a post of yours.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Sep 2015 10:28

I just spoke to Tecs daughter. He is not well so she is staying with him for the foreseeable future. He is having trouble with his speech so can't talk on the phone

I had an email from GR this morning telling me I had had a post reviewed for giving personal information they have altered it but not deleted it. I have no idea which post was reported. If someone saw it perhaps they can tell me which one it was

I will ring Tecs daughter in a few days to see how he is. If any of his very close friends want more information just pm me

Wow - is that Tec I see posting? How lovely - we do miss you <3

We will be helping out with the children Linda. Daughter's OH is quite capable so there will be no need to move in. We are only 15 minutes away so are on hand. I'm pleased that you have booked a holiday - you deserve the rest :-)

Sylvia - we had flash flooding due to the water running off rather than soaking.

Tecwyn Report 28 Aug 2015 19:42

Hello Everyone,,,

Thank you all for your concern, it is so appreciated.

I haven't read back with all your news, but hope to do so over the weekend.

The past few weeks have not been good, and yet again I ended up in hospital for a few days.

My daughter gets down once a week, but things have been difficult as my grand daughter stole her car to get to a job in in the South of England, but I think that finishes this week. She has enjoyed it, as it was in line with her degree course, and will look good on her CV.
Now looking for anything to do with the environment, even working for nothing if needed

I haven't got to see the Duchess lately because they have had to come down in BILs car that is a two seater sports that I can't get into.

Apparently, she is fine, and happy, and doesn''t ask for me, which perhaps is best for here.

Well my dear friends, I've waffled on enough.

Take care, and love to everyone, I do think of you

Hope everyone is well.

Tec xxx
