Hello Linda :-) we have had a few cooking apples off the tree we planted in memory of my brother ( he loved Mr Kipling apple pies ) , OH made apple pie .
The sweetcorn plants ( which are a heritage verity ) have taken a hammering , with all the wind and rain recently . We need some sunshine here in Norfolk .
I hope your OH gathers your spinach before it gets to tough .

Good to see you Amanda, you have been busy, I don't know how you keep going. I need to start making chutney soon the apples on the tree in the garden look ready for picking

I haven't been to the allotment for ages, I am sure lots of stuff is not getting picked. I mentioned spinach and OH said there is lots there, but hasn't brought any back :-(

Amanda2003 Report 4 Sep 2015 23:36

Hello everyone , it's been ages since I've ventured onto here . Things have been so busy at home and on the allotments .
I am sad to read the recent news regarding Tec . I hope his daughter can stay with him during such troubled times . Please send him my love and thoughts if you call again soon Linda <3

It is all go here . Middle daughter has at last been allocated a three bedroom house , she , husband and three daughters +dog have all been living in a two bedroom flat . Today she got the keys and waded straight in to decorate , the big move is on Tuesday apparently .
Meg and the twins have been staying at her OHs Mums as she has gone on holiday to Thiland , so I had imagined a child free few days :-0
Instead I have had Poppy-Rose and Isla all day .......oh well , maybe one day ...lol

The allotments are emptying fast , my OH has been up to his eye balls in tomatoes and carrots , busy freezing and making into pasta sauses . I'm also looking after a neighbouring plot holders hens whilst he is away on his holidays . What with all that and the general running of the site by the evenings I feel like a zombie half the time .

I hope everyone else is jogging along okay xx

Climbing trees at your age is a bit silly Persie if you want to look at the birdies, I suggest buying a pair of binoculars

Persephone Report 4 Sep 2015 22:03

I just read what I posted and it looks like I was up in the tree.
Now that would have been a laugh.

Summer is on it's way, saw my first three tuis yesterday up in the tree outside the dining area window, and I did not wear socks all day yesterday so that was a first. My toes kept warm.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Sep 2015 19:28

Every time I look in the new releases,I don't find anything, so I hope you have more luck

It is cold here, my toes are cold ,so I may have to start wearing socks again, which means summer is over :-(

I agree Persie - it isn't sounding good but we have to stay positive and hope for the best.

I hadn't seen that on Ancestry Linda. Thank you - I shall have a look.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Sep 2015 10:12

I know Persie, it is so worrying, but at least his daughter is with him for the moment.. She cant stay indefinitely though

Sue, have you seen this? I dont know if it will be any use to you
Leeds Burial Ground records NEW
Last week Ancestry uploaded over 187,000 records for Beckett Street Cemetery, also known as Burmantofts Cemetery, or Leeds Burial Ground. They cover the period 1845-1987

I just realised that there are some Derbyshire ones which will be useful for OH's tree, I hadnt seen them either

Oh dear, the poor man, I will shoot straight from the hip and say I really do not like the sound of this.

I won't stay and rabbit on like I normally do.

Will look in again tomorrow. :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Sep 2015 10:13

I just spoke to Tec's daughter, there isn't much change They are waiting for an appointment for speech therapy, he also has a consultant appointment next week for a different problem

He asked to speak to me, he managed to speak very slowly, but had difficulties finding his words. I kept it to less than five minutes because it was very tiring and frustrating for him I passed on all the news and greetings, he said that everyone was very kind. His humour shone through as usual, but it was very sad to hear him like that

I will ring his daughter regularly and keep you updated when I do

I have been to Spinalonga, it was very interesting, I haven't read the book though

I have solved the mystery of the reported post. It was on the Find Ancestors board. Someone posted a request giving the full names of two people and the fact that hey married in the 1940's but the woman died after a few years. They wanted to know if there were any children from the marriage. There were only half a dozen in the country in the time scale with tha combination of surnames,so I posted them and said there was no way of knowing if any belonged

I should have thought that hey could be alive and sent a pm, but it is all public record. GR have left the results but just removed the mothers maiden name. They haven touched the opening post which gives the couples full names,so what is the point of that

I hope you find a house soon Persie before you do too much work on your rental
