Just to Cyprus, but only for a week, we should have gone for two :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Sep 2015 22:18

where are you going?

We are going away at the beginning of October ......... a train trip again, but I think it is going to be colder at our two destinations than here

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Sep 2015 21:45

We are going on holiday at the end of the week, It is forecast to be about 30C so that will do nicely. I don't mind what it does here while we are away :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Sep 2015 21:11

we may also get some sun and warmer temperatures at the end of the week ........ but it is going to get down to 9C tonight, and the same will probably happen at the weekend as sun and cloudless skies mean no cloud cover overnight and rapid cooling.

At least that is what happens here.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Sep 2015 20:03

It was rainy here today, but by Wednesday, the warm weather is due to come back again for an Indian summer or Indian few days anyway

Linda ................ thank you for trying to make contact with Tec

I think Fall is here .................. although it seems to have arrived early :-(

The weather over the weekend was very late October/November-ish ................... rain, chilly and strong winds.

I have now changed over all my summer clothes for warm weather ones ............ and OH even turned the furnace on this morning. I have to confess though that I have had the baseboard heating on in this room every day since early last week, at least during the morning hours.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Sep 2015 12:28

I am going to ring this afternoon Sue, I have been out this morning ferrying old ladies around.
It is a horrible drizzly day here. I washed my hair before I went out this morning as I wanted to get some passport photos. The heavens opened just as Imgot to the supermarket, so the photos are the usual dreadful passport type. I will wait until we come back from holiday next week before I send it off for renewal. I was amazed by the fee £72.50

My goodness Persie - Stellan is growing at an alarming rate. He's gorgeous :-)

Another lovely day spent in the garden. I do love this time of year.

Any news about our Tec, Linda? I hope all is well. I do worry :-(

Thank you Linda - I have had a very nice day <3

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Sep 2015 08:24

Esme was just the same Persie. You would think that after all those months when I looked after her on my own, that she would be perfectly happy with me, but no. She has gone through a stage when she would cry if I picked her up, only mum would do.

Last time I was down she suddenly let me hold her again and was pointing at me making sounds with lots of "g's" in them, to which my daughter was replying "yes grandma", so hopefully she has come through the shy bit

I must go as we have to be at the cinema by 9am for the annual maintainance day.

Happy birthday Sue, I hope you had a nice day

Can the care people provide swivel cushions for you to put in your car Linda?

You don't need ruddy back ache. I think she would be a case that would need to be discussed as to how best to care for her and not to expect people to have to heave ho and move her. :-(

Persephone Report 19 Sep 2015 00:01

Anne Reid is a popular actress popping up in all sorts of programs, we enjoyed her in Last Tango in Halifax.

When we were in Wellington beginning of May Stellan was just coming up to 5 months and he was very happy to be with either one of us but..... this time he is just past the 9 months mark and was not at all happy with either of us holding him much. I would get away with it for a short while but that was it. He was all smiles when he saw his dad was back on Thursday afternoon and had a much better bath that night.

However, we had a lovely few days away and Wellington turned on the sunshine even if it was fairly blowy. We went to the WW1 exhibition at Te Papa museum but it was all Gallipoli and the majority of mine that died were in Europe. I have also found little mention of the fact that some of them including one of mine that was killed on the Somme, started his fighting in Samoa. What they have done on Gallipoli though was mind boggling, came out feeling quite drained.

Next time we will go to another exhibition on WW1 done by Peter Jackson.

I too thought Tec may have had a stroke. Whilst my father did not have a stroke till about six months or so before he died, he was more of a worry a lot earlier. With old age, he still felt the need to go for a walk despite two hip replacements and then he would get a bit disorientated a couple of times and forget where he lived or forget to take his front door key with him. The other worry was he was not always eating the meals brought to him and had "tea and toast syndrome" which was upsetting when he had been such a great cook and after mum had died he started baking cakes and made a really good chocolate caramel shortcake. I more or less had to put him in a resthome for his own safety and to keep peace with his neighbour who held a spare key.

The neighbour really annoyed me later after going on and on and on about dad needing to go into care.. she then says to me that she wished he hadn't gone and we hadn't sold the house to pay for his care. She did not like her new neighbours.

Well it was easy peasy this time after being away, normally I have to go back 10 pages or more to do a bit of a catch up.

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-S

You are very naughty Linda :-|........but thank you <3

It's quite dull here today after days of lovely sunshine. I hope it rains as we need some.

School holidays have started here but we don't have any babysitting duties. My daughter has the first week with them before going to Nepal and their stepdad has the second week with them.

Who do you think you are was interesting to me tonight. It was Ann reid, an actress from Coronation Street. she didn't really seem to understand the concepts involved, but she had a convict who was sent to Tasmania just one year after OH's convict arrived.

It was very interesting to see the places involved, although OH's convict wasn't in exactly the same area

No one around?

I made another large batch of green tomato chutney today, so that is all done thank goodness, it just needs to mature for three months then we can eat it.

I have dismantled the hob and cleaned that. I hate doing that as there are so many bits involved..I am procrastinating because I need to dismantle the cooker hood and clean the fan out. That just leaves the rest of the kitchen to deep clean and I will have done the whole house. I left the kitchen because it is the hardest :-(. I hate climbing up to clean all the cornice around the top of the cupboards, it is amazing how greasy everything gets

I was going to make some more chutney this afternoon, but now I am full of food and can't be bothered..it can wait until Thursday
