More and more of them

"Regional and remote-living Australians are already about 15% more likely to be obese than metropolitan residents, but almost 60% of the Grampians town’s population was obese, the data revealed.

The same year Ararat hit the headlines, a study predicted Australia was on track for almost 80% of its population to be overweight or obese by 2025. It is currently at more than 63%.

Despite a reputation for sport and outdoor living, Australia has one of the fattest populations on the planet. Its rate of obesity is the second-fastest growing in the world, and the fastest among women, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. The figures from the World Obesity Federation show Australia now has 62 severely obese people per 1,000 adults, up from 55 in 2010."

Sound like the whole outfit will suit you very well ;-) Would you like to borrow my broom....oh that's right - you have one of your own :-D

It's been lovely here today - sunny and warm. OH and son have been out most of the day picking up a cement mixer near Sydney. OH has a number of cementing jobs to do and it was cheaper to buy one on EBay than to hire one.

My daughter arrives home tomorrow morning (Sunday). We are very much looking forward to seeing her. The children have been counting sleeps.

It is a nice sunny morning, so we will go to the square for the shopping soon.

This afternoon, we are going to see my brother, or more specifically my grown up niece who lives with them. For many years she was a goth, so has lots of black clothes. I need a Halloween get up for the evening do at the Costello conference in a couple of weeks. She is going to lend me a black velvet cape Wright a hood and a Methusala wig complete with snakes. As she is a suitably large size, I am hoping there might be a long black dress in her wardrobe as well. If not I am eyeing up some long black bridesmaid/ prom dresses on EBay which do t cost much. There are some on very cheap offer with no bids, so if I got one of those, it would be good. If not I will get one of the buy it now ones, then sell it afterwards, so in the end it probably wouldn't cost anymore than a tacky supermarket costume

Thanks for that Linda - I very much hope that a care package can be set up for when Tec is able to go home. We know how much he will be wanting to get out of hospital.

My daughter sent us a message to say that she and the team flew over the Himalayas today. We can't wait to see the photos :-)

Some retail therapy is always good for the soul.....well that's what I say ;-)

Another cool day but good for planting. OH is a bit behind with his tomatoes so he bought some larger well established plants. I have lettuce growing in a big bowl that I'm already picking leaves from for salad as well as radishes. I love Spring :-D

My daughter is coming home on Sunday - can't wait to see her. The team is in Kathmandu for two days before flying home. My daughter asked what I would like her to buy me at the markets and I said a beautiful shawl would be nice :-)

I assume you meant Didn't Sue

It was raining this morning, but stopped by the time we had to do library books this afternoon. We then went and had our flu jabs. We were reminiscing about the old type needles which were like having a knitting needle stuck in your arm. Thank goodness they are much better these days

You didn't row all the way home from Cyprus Persie - I did the rowing, dropped you off and headed to Oz.......tut tut :-|

So very hot here - it reached 35C yesterday and today. Very unseasonable. It is supposed to be much cooler over the next few days.

My daughter is loving the work she is doing in Nepal. The conditions are not great but it is certainly an experience she will never forget.

Brr, yesterday morning, I was floating about in the sea in thirty degree heat, today it is raining and only nine degrees. I have just put the heating on :-(

Plus I am annoyed because despite getting home at bedtime, I got up early to pick a woman up at 8am to take her for a hospital appointment, only to find that she had rung the car scheme to tell them the appointment was cancelled, but they didn't bother to let me know. I sent in an email expressing my displeasure to put it mildly, but they havent got back to me yet

No, it wasnt his home that I put on my FB page, sentence not worded correctly. It was the photos I put on my page.

Sorry, I forgot to say happy birthday.

Persie, you certainly have had a busy time being the finder. I know the feeling.

I had an email from your distant relative. She would like me to go and visit her some time. I had to tell her that it might not be for a while, as I have several other people to visit. My big priority is a 91 yr old man who used to live in Moumoukai Valley. His son showed him the photos of his old home that I put on my FB page and he would like a copy to send to his 94 y.o. sister in America! I think I will have to get that visit sorted in the next 7 days. If I do organise a visit to your relly I will let you know when, perhaps you can come too!

I am always floating around.

I had thought of going to Huia's function but had been in that area on Wed and we were going up to Auckland on Sat Night for dinner. Anya made me an owl cake.

Looking back I should have gone to Huia's day out, as she has now met the husband of a distant relative of mine and I haven't met him or her. I have been going to go and see them for ages.

Today apart from being outside doing edges and between concrete slabs (weeding) and mowing, I have also been required in the garage. He has had several where's mys and can't finds today. He wanted his two hand saws, told me one was orange and I said no it's not the orange one broke. He said no that was the yellow one that broke... okay so I did a yellow handle search in the mess and found the yellow saw - once that was established that the yellow one had not broken - he said that was not the one he wanted. Okay I said the other one had a wooden handle, bit more searching and found that in a different area.

Later I can't find my skill saw. I was preparing dinner, then he said where's the orange lead, so sent him to where that was. I then went out to garage, described said skill saw and he said yes that is the one. I had a quick survey of the mess, climbed over obstacle and said I think that is it down there, on floor under stuff.. yes it was and he went and got it and said to me "Isn't modern science wonderful." :-S

I should never have rowed home again from Cyprus. :-)

Happy birthday to Persie :-D

I hope your enjoying your holiday Linda .

It is sad to hear that Tec is having one set back after another :-( I think of him often and wish so much that he gains strength and can return to his home soon <3

I hope your enjoying the weather Sue , it's been dry and sunny here in Norfolk for the past couple of weeks but I believe the wet weather is heading our way .
It's been all go on the allotments , harvest home and all that :-) As Site secretary I have been busy chasing up the people that are not getting on with their plots ( some of them are in dreadful states ) . I had a most unpleasant experience a week or so ago , it was the " annual awards ceremony " , where merit certificates and cups etc are handed out to the worthy plot holders . A man that I had sent a " 14 day notice to improve " decided to turn up and make a scene , he confronted me just at the moment the chairman was calling out the plot holders names of our site ! It got a bit heated with my OH raising his voice and telling the bloke to clear off ............. ruined my night completely :-( :-( :-(
He hasn't been spotted on site since the incident and has been issued with a 28 day notice to quit , so hopefully I won't need to deal with him again .

On a happier note , little Isla had a very happy forth birthday party yesterday ( her actual birthday is tomorrow ) , next one will be Bella being five in a few days :-)
