Welcome back Sylvia I am glad you enjoyed yourself even with the terrible delay

They are identical Sue. One was larger when he was born, so I could spot the difference, but the little brother has caught up well, so there isn't much in it. They do look very alike, but it is early days yet..They have different needs though, the larger one has bad reflux, so has add to change to a different milk formula which seems to be helping

Hi everyone

Great news about the twins, Sue

we're back from our train trip.

It was great fun ................ apart from the 10 hour delay getting into Toronto on the first leg, which led to us having to be put on a bus to Montreal. Normally the train company would have put us up in Toronto and re-scheduled us onto a Montreal train the next day, but there were no hotel rooms available ........... a Madonna concert, a big ice hockey game, and another big sporting event.

It took 6 hours to get to Montreal, we walked in to the lobby of the Fairmont hotel at 4:15 AM. Naturally they had let our room for that night go, but they managed to find another one for us. We fell into bed at 4:30 am, slept for 4 hours, then got up and had breakfast, and continued with our day!

Still, we managed to do everything that we wanted to do. And we even saw the autumnal colours on the Prairies and in northern Ontario ............. along with huge skeins of geese flying south. There must have been 200 or more in those skeins.

I did that when Aimee and Joel were born - Drew was 2. Their father didn't take much time off work so my daughter needed help. Are the twins next door identical Linda?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Oct 2015 17:52

I didn't know about the twins, that will be lovely to look forward to

I am having coffee next door tomorrow with the new twin boys and their two year old brother. They are coming on very well, but her mum has more or less moved in to help

You had this last year Linda - let someone else do it. A quiet Christmas at home sounds good.

A quiet day today. Warm and sunny but windy so I didn't do much in the garden although OH did some pottering in his veggie garden. We have lots of radishes in the fridge and my lettuce is almost at the stage where we can pick leaves from them.

I don't know if I mentioned that my brother and sister in law are to become grandparents to twins. Today he rang to see if I would like to know what sex the babies are. Identical boys :-D I can't wait!!

Now you are casting nasturtiums on my house :-P

Still it will look pretty

Banging my head on the wall at the moment trying to organise Xmas for ten adults and two children. I had lots of options months ago, but the useless other half of the family would not bother to talk to each other. Now all of the good places have gone and the couple who are always the flipping problem are still faffing about deciding how long they will grace us with their company for

I think I will just cancel the whole thing grrrrrr

If Persie is game enough to stay in your house then so be it ;-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Oct 2015 17:57

Oh well Persie can stay in the house if you won't share your tent :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 13 Oct 2015 10:13

That's my tent Linda :-|

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Oct 2015 09:49

Oh well, you had better stay upside down in that case

You can always visit, the tent is ever ready :-)

My family were worried we would move to Tassie once, but that was probably the thought of the baby sitters disappearing. They are older now so probably would not mind.

There are some lovely places in the UK .. but I sorta feel safer down here with all the upheaval that is going on t'other side of the world. UK would be great in that you can pop off to other countries that are not too far away. Even crossing the ditch to Australia is quite a way.

The long cold winters, Linda :-D

I have woken to grey skies and a little rain which is a shame because Drew has a sports carnival today. Hopefully it can still go ahead as he is looking forward to it.

My garden is really waking up and starting to look it's best. I wish I was able to send Tec some photos as I do every spring :-(

I am glad that she is back safely Sue

What is wrong with the UK, ?????

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Oct 2015 09:46

More likely that Persie and Mr Persie would come to Australia - Tasmania more than likely. I'd hate to be house hunting :-(

Our daughter is back from Nepal with lots of photos and stories to tell. They really did have to rough it but she really enjoyed the experience. Especially a flight over the Himalayas just before the group left Kathmandu. Her photos of Mt Everest are stunning.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Oct 2015 08:34

OK you are forgiven

Maybe you should be looking in a different area, the U.K. For example :-)

Persephone Report 12 Oct 2015 03:34

Linda, when we bought our Sandringham house, we only looked at two houses. The trouble with down in Cambridge is they are either dated, kitchen way too small or they are way too big. Not that many are coming on the market. Before we moved, there were a lot of houses that would have suited us, but now people in Cambridge are too frightened to sell in case they won't find something elsewhere.

We have waited since Feb, for people to put their house on the market, they have the jitters and they want to buy a lifestyle block. We have given up on them now, but we had been and got all the council data on the place because we were really interested in buying it.

Several times places have come up and then the owners have changed their minds.. it is quite exasperating. One yesterday was way too small on a half section, nowhere to garden. One had a lovely garden area but the roof needed doing and the windows and they even had pelmets inside where they did not have windows. The other one just did not quite hit the spot, the rooms were not that big and even the larger bedroom only had a little tiny wardrobe.. there was nowhere to store anything. Even the dining area was cramped.

We don't think we are picky, there has been one place that did tick all the boxes except the driveway was only short and nowhere to park the truck. Not even in the street as it was the end of a cul-de-sac.

There are a few houses that are out in the country, not within walking distance to anywhere otherwise we would be in like flint.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Oct 2015 10:56

Nasturtium flowers are edible, so why would I do that :-D

I think you are being too picky and will never find a house

Persephone

Persephone Report 11 Oct 2015 09:11

Been down to Cambridge to look at three houses that are not for us, but one came close but too much to do to it. Bringing it into this era would be a start, the carpet was definitely granny style. Probably built 60s.

And as for you Linda castings "nasturtiums" on my pie making abilities. Hmmph. ;-)
