I was hoping to find a toy squirrel to take a photo of her holding it. We still have hundreds of stuffed toys from when her mum was young, every animal under the sun apart from a squirrel :-(

She is going to see her other grandmother at the weekend and she does have a toy squirrel, so they can finish it off there

We have been out for the afternoon to Stockeld Park We went in the maze first of all, then round the enchanted forest. As it was Halloween, there was a trail to follow and lots of witches and wizards on the way. They were very good at interacting with the children, not your usual bored teenagers. The forest looked pretty with all the lights even though it wasn't dark. There were lots of interactive bits and play areas. We then had dinner in the cafe and did the whole thing again in the dark. My feet are aching, she wants to go back again

a photograph of a squirrel???

I'm sure the school will not want to be over-run with squirrels :-D

Phew, spent most of the morning doing Eves homework. An Autumn scavenger hunt. We only have an acorn, a pinecpne and a squirrel still to find. We hope to get them this afternoon on our jaunt out

She wrote the names of everything on A4 paper and we stuck the things next to their names. Luckily I had a spare small plastic folder with plastic inserts. In it, so all the pages are safely stored.

I am not sure how we are going to stick a squirrel in :-S

She is now out in the garden with grandad even though it is very cold

Eve was unusually quiet while we were playing, she usually talks non stop. I think she was a bit shy because she hasn't had much to do with to do with my neighbour before. She was very good with little Max. It was interesting because he was actually interacting with her and playing. The last time they played in the summer, he was still in the stage where he just played along side her rather than with her.

Hi Sue and Linda

That sounds a lovely afternoon, Linda. I'm sure that Eve did enjoy herself.

Sue ......... glad to hear that you are having nice weather.

Thank you, my back is a lot better. Matt worked wonders last Tuesday :-)

I see Australia beat Argentina this afternoon, so it will be NZ vs Australia in the Rugby World Cup.

Matt was thinking it would be NZ vs Argentina! I shall have to give him a hard time when I next see him, which will be after his quick trip to England to see the games next Friday evening and Saturday afternoon :-)

Hello Sylvia - hope your back is much better.

Sounds like a lovely afternoon. Eve would be in her element playing with the little boy. Was she bossing him? Little girls do that :-)

The weather has been nice over the weekend so we have been doing a lot of things around the garden. My daughter visited with the children and went home with loads of cuttings ready to get back into gardening after her trip to Nepal.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Oct 2015 20:45

Yes, we got back with no trouble Sylvia

There has been much playing going on today. This afternoon, we went to play with the little boy next door. He is only two and a half, but it kept her occupied. His new twin brothers are only twelve weeks old. Eve was very interested and I let her hold one on her knee which she quite liked. We stayed for most of the afternoon as she was on her own with them ,so I fed one twin while she did the other. They are so small, but I even got him to burp

Poor Eve - but Grandma will make everything better :-)

I always get you back Linda ;-)

Almost to London, now all I have to do is collect the little one, turn around and travel the length of the country again

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 23 Oct 2015 21:15

I am off to collect Eve tomorrow, I am going on the 8am train, but treating myself to first class as it wasn't much more. I am coming back at teatime, cattle class this time.

She had a big bandage on her knee tonight where she had fallen down in the playground, so no doubt I will have to nurse that. I bet she makes it an excuse not to have a bath. she likes the bath really, but tries to avoid having her hair washed

LindainHerriotCountry Report 23 Oct 2015 12:57

I think it is more the incessant talking and the fact that they tend to snipe at each other which he isn't looking forward to.

It is good that his daughter will be able to have some time off and that he will have someone there all the time, although he seems to be fine on his own with the carers, they are making sure he has an evening meal

I knew you would get me back Sue :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 23 Oct 2015 10:11

Oh you poor old dears - I hope I'm not suffering from bad knees or back when I'm your age ;-)

Seriously - I hope you both take care of yourselves <3

Miserable weather here - very dull but not much rain. Wish the weather would make up its mind.

Poor Tec - two sisters fussing over him :-0

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 23 Oct 2015 01:29

oh dear :-(

I'm glad Matt has never sent me away ........... I figure the only reason that I am still able to walk, albeit with a cane, is because of his ministrations every 3 weeks or so. I've been going to him since 1997

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Oct 2015 21:32

I haven't had physio for ages, I was just sent away and told to get on with it

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Oct 2015 20:21

OH is a member of one of the centres that Famy will be associated with at the university. OH said Famy was very interesting.

Sorry you are still having problems. Are you still having physio?

I don't think the train did any more damage to that done by the coach trip ............ the seats are comfortable, with room for legs, and of course, we walk around a lot.

The coach was VERY restrictive .......... a 12 seater with the minimum amount of room between the rows, or to get access to the back 2 rows from the one door. We were on the next to back row, and over the axle.

Plus of course, you know the old jazz favourite ........... dem bones??????????

It's all true in my case :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Oct 2015 20:15

Ooh that sounds very important.

Maybe sitting in the train all that way wasn't good for you.

My knee is lots better than it was, but just when I think it is coming on well, I have a set back.I spent yesterday afternoon pushing someone round in a wheelchair and it was hurting last night. I ended up walking quite a long way today and it was really aching by the time I got back, so I will take it easy tomorrow

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Oct 2015 20:07

he's always swanning off somewhere. It was hunting in the north for the first 2 weeks this month :-D :-D

I was actually in quite bad shape yesterday, but it was mainly my knees. Matt did a good job on my back! Luckily, I could have a "slob" day as OH was busy ............ he was meeting Famy, the Canadian journalist who was imprisoned in Egypt

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Oct 2015 19:55

I hope your back is feeling better Sylvia. I think your physio should stay put with you instead of swanning off over the world
