LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Nov 2015 08:38

I am sorry about the damage Sue, but relieved you were OK.

It is incredibly foggy here. Yesterday I had to take two old ladies to church in a local town, they go once a month for a concert. It wasn't too bad when I took them, but it was really bad plus dark when I took them home, I was glad to get back

I have another long drive this morning. I have to take a couple to a hospital about 45 mins drive away so he can have an X-ray, then on the way back I have to take them to the local hospital 12 miles away so she can have an X-ray.

At least it is light which makes the driving a bit easier, but again, I will be pleased when it is done

I'm glad you both had a lovely meal, Sylvia. I don't often have an entree as I can't eat three courses and would rather have dessert :-D

We had damaging storms in different areas close to home. We watched the storm travel along the mountains and disappear. Unfortunately it hit suburbs north of ours and caused a lot of damage. I had phone calls from our son, Aiden's mum and his Nonna worried about what they saw on the news.

we had a lovely meal last night ........ both of us had the duck entree

It is not often that we both have the same meal :-)

One of the servers was a New Zealander :-)

It is raining hard here, and I also kept hearing it raining overnight.

Our clocks went back last night ........ so we are once again 8 hours behind the UK.

That is very magnanimous of you Sue :-D

It is very foggy here today, a day for staying in and reading the Sunday papers I think

I always have something because we have little ones around here now but I won't answer the door to older children who don't dress up and are out for what is on offer.

I'm sorry the Wallabies lost but the All Blacks have played so well I think they deserved to win.....I suppose :-|

We are bah humbugs . OH switches the security light off on the front of the garage, that means it is pitch black on the drive. As the door is xaround the side of the house, no one can see any lights at all, so no one comes. I actually had some chocolate eyeballs left over from the conference, so we will have to eat them I suppose

I hope you enjoy your meal Sylvia

I bet my physio is delighted :-D

He went over on Thursday night, saw the game on Friday and this afternoon, and returns tomorrow ............... ready to be in work at 7 am on Monday morning

Linda .......... it is warmer than usual here as well. This evening is expected to be wet for the poor trick-or-treaters.

The signals here that you are in for them is to have an outside light on at the front door, and a pumpkin with a lit candle in it either on the steps or porch outside or in a front window.

But we are going to be out ................. we're finally going out for our Anniversary dinner, which should have happened in August except I still wasn't well after the antibiotic reactions.

We shall just have to make sure that there are no lights showing at the front of the house before we leave at about 5:30 pm for dinner ... assuming the cab arrives on time :-).

Sadly it rained here tonight so not as many children. However we did have a group of giggling little witches turn up. I had lollies and little chocolates for them and they were delighted...their mums waiting in the driveway had taught them well as they had lovely manners.

It is definitely fall here Sylvia, though strangely warm. It was about 17 yesterday and will be again today, but is will drop to 10 the following day. At least it will be warm and dry for the children trick or treating tonight

Hi everyone

so glad to hear the conference was a success and the party went well. It sounds as if everyone had a good time.

I'm also pleased to hear that Tec is looking ahead, and planning his meals better than he was. It is all to easy to slip into bad eating habits when you're not feeling well and there is only you to look after.

I think we are into Fall here ....... orur clocks go back tomorrow night (Saturday), we are having waves of rain coming through, and all the leaves are falling off the trees.

The party sounds as if a great time was had by all, Linda. The costumes sound wonderful :-D

I'm pleased that Tec is looking ahead. I'm also pleased he is eating well.

I hope everyone is well - the thread has slowed down but as long as we 'touch base' now and then it keeps on keeping on.

I am back from the conference. We had a good time last night at the halloween party. All of the children were dressed up of course, but only some of the adults, the rest were spoilsports. Our family made a really good show. My daughter was Morticia Adams, complete with the black wig, little Eve was Wednesday Adams, again complete with the wig. her daddy was Gomez and even little Esme was dressed up as the boy. They looked brilliant, it is amazing what you can get on Ebay. I had my long black dress and cloak adorned with lots of spiders. The green wig with the snakes was incredibly hot, but much admired. I had green face paint, on my arms as well with lacy spider gloves.

When I walked into the room, the first child I saw started howling, that was a bit worrying, but the rest all though it was good. I had a trick or treat bag full of non edible goodies, the plastic spiders were popular I had some chocolate eyeballs for those who could eat. The bag was very popular, all the little ones love getting bits and pieces

I rang Tec this afternoon, he was fine and had survived the week with his sisters. One had gone home and the other is going tomorrow. The carers will start again tomorrow, they obviously weren't needed this week. The medical people seem to have their act together thank goodness, the doctor is actually coming to see him and the nurses come three times. The MacMillan nurses have also been to see him

He has managed to get out this week. Yesterday they went to some glass blowing centre, then to a garden centre where they had a posh afternoon tea. he bought some spring bulbs for his pot and his sister was planting them this afternoon

It is very good that he is looking ahead and being positive. He said that one of his sisters is a very good cook, so she had made some nice meals. He isnt sure when his daughter is coming back, he thinks Wednesday, he is trying to persuade her that he will be fine for a few days on his own. The evening carer will make sure he has a ready meal, it is good that he is eating again, all he was having before was toast which is not good.

No one around?

It is 3pm and I am laying in a darkened room while little miss "Iam not tired" has a sleep

She was awake really late last night and was desperately tired by lunchtime, so I brought her to the room for a sleep. There were lots of protests, but eventually she zonked out and is now out for the count. That is good because we have the big Halloween party tonight, so she will be able to stay up and have fun

I often think of Berona as we were friends in some of the games I play Her accounts must still be active as her name is often on the list off fiends it wants me to send a life to

I wonder how Tec is getting on? Probably driven to distraction bynow :-D

When Maia was little she would throw a tizzy fit, if I could not go to grandparent's day.. had to take time off work.

I still have the pictures that our youngest drew of her grandparents when they went to her school... later after Nana died and we had a new headmaster who was Jewish and observed all the rules. Her other grandparents came down from up North and they and my father went. The men all were given a white kippah to wear. I turned up to take dad home and was a bit worried in case he would make a fuss about wearing one... but no he said to me when I arrived. I am wearing my potai (Maori for hat).

I too have been thinking of dear Berona today, she would have been quite upset about Tec. I was greeted with an e-mail this morning telling me it was her birthday.

You will just have to get a pic of a squirrel off the net Linda LOL..

Used to watch them in the park when I was in Washington DC, they were rather partial to Hershey's Chocolate.

It was lovely thank you Linda.

Sorry you are feeling ill but unfortunately when you have a little one you have to soldier on. I hope the conference goes well.

Today is a day to remember our Berona as it would have been her 84th birthday. I miss her caring and humorous comments <3

I hope you had a lovely day Sue

I was woken up at 6.30am, she had checked through the window and it is light grandma :-(

I felt absolutely dreadful with a sore throat, headache and streaming cold. Everytime I go near my daughter I catch what she has. despite that, i have had to play all day, I did lots of craft stuff this morning, then we played make believe games with the soft toys this afternoon/

The only respite was when grandad took her to the allotment to choose a pumpkin and they came back and carved it.

I should have been on cinema duty tonight but obviously couldn't go, so OH has gone on his own. After lots of bedtime stories, she is now asleep thank goodness.

We are off to Manchester tomorrow for the conference

What fun :-D

We have Grandparent Day at Drew's school this afternoon. Drew is really excited about it and is full of plans about what his mum is going to make for afternoon tea as the parents have been asked to supply a plate of goodies.

We had a lovely refreshing storm last night with lots of noise and rain. It was very warm and humid yesterday but nice this morning.
