Hello :-D

Give your lovely girls a hug from me Linda <3

LindainHerriotCountry Report 15 Nov 2015 19:51

Here I am safely in London with the girls bedded down for the night. I just have to clear up the blitz of toys and all will be well

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Nov 2015 23:13

yep ......

not sure why it's quite that shade!!

But we are in the Temperate Rain Forest Zone, and that means (usually) lots of rain in the winter months ...... and tall tall trees :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Nov 2015 09:54

It all looks very green Sylvia

I need to edit my head, I am going tomorrow not Monday

Have a nice day with the baby Persie, I think you need to train your OH better :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Nov 2015 23:43

Linda ............

it's actually a strait between the mainland and the island and runs more or less north-south, but it is subject to strong wind coming down from the north.

and the ferry we go on, goes north up the strait from the southern end fo the mainland to about half way up the island.

have a look at the wikipedia entry

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Georgia

It is actually now officially part of the Salish Sea, the First Nations name for the area

Safe trip to London on Monday, and have fun looking after the girls :-)

Persephone Report 13 Nov 2015 23:41

I am doing meet the baby tomorrow.. he is three months old.. therefore will be another trip to Auckland. We haven't been home much this week and I only got the vacuuming half done so will complete that today. Normally it would have been done twice in that time. He does tend to drop weeties bits and cornflakes and crumbs on the kitchen floor. Have just wiped the counter top and the top of the stove, porridge crumbs, not sure where he actually performs the job of spooning porridge into the pot before cooking.. looks like all over the place.

He really needs a batman to pick up after him.

I would hate that sea journey Sylvia.

It has been really cold here today and raining for most of the day. I had to take a woman to the nearby town for an opticians appointment at 11.40, then she had a hospital appointment at 1.20, so it was mid afternoon before I got her home. I went to the supermarket after that

I am going to London on Monday and won't be back until Friday as my daughter is away on a course all week, so I am needed to help look after the girls

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Nov 2015 22:54

Sue was certainly very restrained :-)

we had a terribly wet day all day yesterday, and through the night until about 5 am this morning.

Now the sun seems to be trying to shine :-S

There were also high winds yesterday, and many of the ferries to the Island were delayed or cancelled.

We are going to the Island on Monday to see our friend, returning on Thursday

Keep your fingers crossed we don't have any high winds! The crossing we make is about 2 hours and can be VERY choppy, as well as the ferry having difficulty accessing the dock at each end when the wind is high and gusting.

Only two orchids, goodness you must be ill Sue :-0

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 13 Nov 2015 21:50

That will be an interesting certificate, Linda.

I actually didn't buy much from the show. I bought my daughter two orchids as they are her gardening passion. OH did a woodwork workshop which he enjoyed. He made a child's chair. Nothing he couldn't have made at home but they were shown a couple of different techniques.

Raining, warm and humid. Not very pleasant weather at all :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2015 21:02

I am sure you will manage more than a few winter pansies :-D

I have just ordered a death cert for my elusive great grandmother, the one my mother insisted died when she was about ten years old, but didn't die until my mum was about twenty three :-S

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Nov 2015 20:47

That made me feel homesick. I could just picture the hanging basket at the front door and the chimney pots <3

I'll let you know what I buy ;-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2015 15:04

Brr, I have changed my mind about the nice autumn day, it is cold and dismal outside.

I remembered that I bought some winter flowering pansies at the weekend and I hadn't put them in. Just for the hanging basket by the front door and for two chimney pots which are on the patio. I have just been out do do them and am glad to get back in

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2015 13:19

The show sounds good Sue, I bet you spend a fortune

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2015 12:43

It is common to have a window cleaner here as most houses are double storey

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Nov 2015 12:14

That would be very strange. OH does our windows outside but as one side is high he is now thinking about getting a window washer. He doesn't like ladders these days.

It was a pleasant day today. OH cut the lawns while I tidied up his veggie garden.

We have a magazine and TV show called Better Homes and Gardens and every year they have a live show in Sydney. We've decided to go for the day as it's always interesting with lots of demonstrations. OH likes the tool demos and of course I like the gardening vendors. Some of the plants are quite unusual but it's the bulbs I like to buy.

I hope you soon feel much better, Linda <3

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Nov 2015 12:06

No, I am getting better, I have had a terrible cold and cough for two weeks now. I feel like I have been kicked in the ribs

I am moving from room to room trying to avoid the window cleaner who is here doing the outside. I always feel odd being in a room where he is cleaning. My son used to sit on the stairs so he couldn't see him

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 12 Nov 2015 12:01

Linda - I think most of us have days when we really don't want to do much of anything and the thought of going out seems too much of an effort. I hope you're not ill :-(
