Linda - I'm sorry you're still unwell. You're starting to worry me now :-( Take care <3

Sounds like a lovely Christmas for you both Sylvia :-)

The weather has been crazy lately - hot and sunny one day and then cold and miserable the next. The garden doesn't know what to do

I had a nice chat with Tec this afternoon. He chatted for longer than he normally manages, so he must be having a good day.

He hasn't strangled his sister yet, but has thought about it :-D

He is missing Milo this week as his next door neighbour has gone away for a few days for a funeral. Normally she would have left Milo with Tec, but it would be too much for him now, he wouldnt be able to get him back in from the garden for instance

He sends his love to everyone

A trip away at Xmas sounds just the thing Sylvia, I hope you mange to get a booking for the buffet

The saga of the FMP subscription just got even better this morning

When I got the email from the Aus site offering the 50% discount, I decided to check all the options, so I went to Quidco and opened the site in that to see what the deal was. It didn't look as good, so I went back to the email and followed the link to the Aus site from there and paid. This morning I got an email from Quidco telling me that my cashback had tracked. They had converted the dollars to £43.40 and gave me £15.19 cash back So a years world wide subscription is just costing me £28.21. Absolutely brilliant, it must have happened because I still had the quidco link to the site open when I paid

ooh ......... I do hope you feel better soon, Linda (((xxx)))

I've just booked our hotel for Christmas :-)

I'd asked our friend when we on the Island the other week if she would be interested in joining us for Christmas dinner at the hotel IF we booked over there. She hummed and hawed ..... later muttered something to me about "well, I could check into the hotel for a couple of nights".

So, we've decided to pre-empt her ....... we'd be going to a hotel anyway, we find that hotel comfortable and friendly, we enjoy the ferry ride, and OH likes his nightcap in the Whisky Bar there. I also wanted to make sure we DID get a room!

So, I've booked in for 4 days.

Our other friend will be busy working many shifts (filling in for others) as a Volunteer "Welcomer" at the local Airport, so he won't be able to join us for the Christmas Buffet ............. but will be able to visit with us at some point during the 4 days. We haven't seen his "new" place since he finished moving in at the beginning of the year!

Tomorrow or Wednesday, I'll try to reserve a table at the Christmas Buffet.

Here we go, the start of a new week, which I hope is better than the last one. I am on my last day of antibiotics, but my lung is still so painful that I think I will have to go back to the quack

It is fine drizzly rain outside, so not as bad as the torrential stuff which was forecast. OH is jut off to the gym so will get wet. I have something I ordered from a shop to collect in the next town. I might go this afternoon, but if it is raining, it can wait until tomorrow

SylviaInCanada Report 29 Nov 2015 21:12

you know ............. I bet it is like GR, where we can use either the UK, or access from SA etc

I would think that you could access FMP-uk with the Australian sub ....... and I'm certain that all records are on all sites.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Nov 2015 20:07

I am glad you got it sorted Sylvia. The password thing confused me as well. I recently changed my UK password, it must change it on all sites as it worked on e Aussie one.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 29 Nov 2015 19:44

actually, I'm not sure why I expected to speak to someone in Australia!!

After all, all GR is run from London, and all Ancestry is run from their offices in the US :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 29 Nov 2015 19:43

it's still sunny and cold here ............... the Arctic Front is sticking around :-)

I think rain is forecast for Tuesday, hopefully later in the day as I have a physio appointment around lunchtime.

I decided to take out the Aussie sub, but then hit a snag.

It applied the discount code, took me to the next page which showed my email address, I put in my password .............. and it immediately thanked me for renewing my sub and went straight to Home page. o.O

I assume it had applied the payment to the credit card on file ......... unfortunately that was way out of date, and wasn't the one I wanted to charge it to!

I had to contact them by email ...... got a reply this morning, and all fixed now. Very easy.

I did note with some interest that the phone number given for contact was country code 044 ................ that is the UK for us. So presumably all FMP, no matter the country, is run from the London offices.

What a dreadful day. The rain has been lashing Down since last night and it is blowing a gale. There will be a few fences down at least

It is only 4pm, but dark as midnight out there, we are all cosy inside

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Nov 2015 18:37

No Sylvia, the thanksgiving one is a better deal

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Nov 2015 17:25

Linda ....... glad to hear you are feeling better

I also got that email from the Aussie site ............... I had a sub with them years ago.

I was considering letting OH buy me a sub in fmp for my Christmas present .......... so he's going to get off for less money.

I'm not sure what it translates to in Canadian $, but it's bound to be cheaper than any other offer I could find :-)

I am feeling better this morning, so will be up and about, there is only so much lazing about I can do

Any way I am chuffed this morning
My UK FMP subscription had lapsed a couple of weeks ago. The best discount I could find was £40 off through Quidco. Luckily I hadn't got round to it because I got an email this morning from the Australian FMP site offering me 50% off a worldwide subscription
They take it as a single payment of 99.75 which today is £47.72 UK pounds, brilliant value

The discount code is BFRIDAY15

That is absolutely amazing value, it didn't matter that I am in the UK, I had a nice online chat with one of their ladies to check first. It has all gone through,so I am up and running again

sorry to hear you are still suffering, Linda xx

Sue ......... I had a similar picture in my mind!!

I only had the one brother, who was 10½ years older than me. The funniest thing was when we would see him after my Dad died ............. that happened after we'd been married about 3 years, but brother would treat me as if I was one of his daughters and OH was just an appendage or hanger-on, and try to order us around. My Dad had never ordered me around in his life!

We were out to a little party this evening .......... it's Fall Graduation week at the university, and this was the party for the Honorary Doctoral people. It was lovely ..... but so cold coming home, and there was frost glinting on the roads and on the grass verges.

SueMaid Report 27 Nov 2015 04:53

I was hoping you were feeling better, Linda :-(

You have put such a funny image in my mind, Sylvia :-D

I had a lovely message from Tec who told me about his sister :-D His words - "she means well....oh well never mind". That made laugh as it speaks volumes.

It has cooled down and we are expecting some rain over the weekend. I don't mind too much.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Nov 2015 09:38

That might be a good idea Sylvia :-D

He was so funny, trying to think of places to send her to stop her from pestering him.. She does drive at home, but won't drive on the roads where he lives, so her husband is dropping her of and collecting her.

She is the one who is a good cook, so hopefully, she can spend her time feeding him up

I thought I was feeling a bit better last night, but my ribs are so sore this morning. I was supposed to have an appointment with the nurse this afternoon, to get the results of my health check, but I can't face having to walk there,as OH is out with the car today

I don't think I could grit my teeth and smile nicely either, while she tells me that I am overweight and need more exercise without bothering to glance at my file to see why.

I managed to play nicely last week while the obviously newly trained health care assistant kept nervously peering at her computer screen while she asked me the next question. I threw her by asking a question, deviating from the script isn't allowed, so she asked me the same thing again. At that point I decided that counting to ten in my head and leaving as soon as I could was the best course of action

At least I got out of cinema duty tonight, so I am all snug watching TV . I am fine as long as I don't move. OH made a very passable version of mince and dumplings for dinner
