My tooth is a lot better thank goodness, still not back to normal though. I normally chew on that side, but it is still too sore to do that.

It is Monday morning and thank goodness, it seems to be a little bit warmer out there. It was my sons birthday yesterday and we were recalling the fact that it was blizzard conditions on the day he was born. As we drove to the hospital, the local radio was warning people only to drive if it was absolutely necessary. The snow lasted for a few weeks, if I remember it orrectly.

I am not a happy bunny. I cracked my wisdom tooth afew days ago. I had it looked at today and one part was loose and moving about, hurting the gum. He offered to take the whole thing out, or just to remove the loose part. I declined the former as I have had extensive root canal work done previously to save it. So he just removed the loose bit. Apparently it is only bleeding a bit!

It is aching now and that is while all the injections are still working :-(

Sympathy required

Happy Australia Day to all down under

I can imagine Sue in her straw hat complete with corks, throwing another shrimp on the barbie and swigging lager out of the bottle. All on her verandah in the rain :-D

I hope you have had a nice day, whatever you have been doing

I have been remembering Tec today as it would have been his birthday. I still miss our chats.

I have been doing some tree research today. I treated myself to a months subscription to Seax because the records are not well covered on line. I have been looking at the original books and have made some good progress.

Is the link to the parish records page. If any one needs any look ups just let me know

I was tempted Sue, but I resisted.

Being on grandma duty is indeed tiring, but Eve is very good. Children arent born to be unruly, so unless there is a medical condition, it is down to the way they have been brought up.

It is dark and dismal again today. we went into the square to do the shopping this morning, but are having a lazy afternoon

SueMaid Report 21 Jan 2017 00:20

How frustrating, Linda....did you throw your computer out of the window? I would have been tempted :-|

We are not doing too much today....we think we deserve a rest after a few days with the grandchildren. Thank goodness they are generally well behaved. I have been talking to a grandmother who is at the end of her tether having had her unruly grandsons for most of the holidays.

Just watching the inauguration ceremony on the television. The protests are dreadful :-(

Quiet and relaxing sounds good to me.

I have spent half the morning searching for a computer link which I sent to my daughter just before Xmas. She had lost it and I couldnt find it either. Very strange as it is not in my sent emails, or in the messenger which I chat on. The original site has disappeared as well, but eventually I found it.

Mega coffee needed now!!

I will demand photos Linda....you are going to look very smart for the both the wedding and the evening festivities.

It has cooled off here a little thank goodness. Some rain so the lawn is growing so fast you can almost watch it sprouting.

We are having fun with the grandkids. They have had a busy summer holiday so we are keeping the last week or two before they go back to school quiet and relaxing.....they are quite happy with that. So are we :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2017 16:41

Ah there you all are.
Poor Sylvia, there is nothing worse than a lingering cough.

It is dreary and dismal here, we could do with some of your heat Sue. I hope you are having a lovely time playing with the grand children.

For the last couple of weeks, I have been sorting out my wardrobe for the wedding. I managed to get a dress for the ceremony which is just in a register office. I got a woollen dress which is black with small white ovals on it rather than spots, they run in one direction on the top and the other on the pleated skirt. It sounds a bit weird, but it is actually very nice.

I dont want to wear a black coat or jacket with it, too funereal. So I went looking in the sales for a white jacket or coat. I couldnt see one, but then spotted one on Ebay. I took a chance on it and it is just the job. It is a three quarter length winter white woolen coat which was sold as only worn once. I can believe that because the pockets were still sewn up. Even better was the nice low price.

Next came the shoe dilemma. I havent worn heels for years. I had a couple of pairs of black court shoes, but they were too small as my feet have spread :-(
I have been looking all over the place, but finally found some today in Marks sale. Nice wide fitting ones which look smart and only have a lowish heel, so hopefully I wont break my ankle. Even better was the price, they had been massively reduced, so that was another bonus.

I have been deliberating what to wear for the evening do the next day, which involves much dancing apparently. I dont want to wear the same dress I am wearing for the ceremony and meal afterwards as it will be too warm.
The brides mother has decided to wear trousers and a nice top, so I am going to do the same. I found a pair of evening trousers in my wardrobe, so have been looking for a new top, but with no success. Then I thought this is silly, because I already have lots of nice tops. I have decided to wear a plum coloured top which I wore to go to the Palace for the investiture. It is sleeveless which was fine under the suit I wore.

Afterwards to make it more versatile, I bought the sheer long sleeved shirt which was designed to go with it. My daughter is the only person who has seen me wear it, so tarted up with some jewelry, it will be fine.

I could do with some new black evening sandals as the ones I have are too tight as well. Still there is time to find some, or I hope there is

This weather!

After being in a deep freeze for over 6 weeks, the longest period for this area in over 30 years, we now have a weather change that started Monday, and really took hold yesterday ....................

it's coming straight to us across the Pacific from the Philippines!

Rain, rain and more rain, temperature expected to reach 11C today ....... that's 11 ABOVE freezing .......... and now flood watches because fo the amount of rain that's falling combined with snow melt

I think I'm feeling human, but I still have this cough ............. and it sounds awful! I haven't been out of the house since Monday last week!

Hello friends :-)

I've neglected our thread shamefully....sorry.

Good to see you home safely Sylvia but sorry you have a cold. Hope you are feeling much better...and you also Linda.

It has been so hot here and we haven't had the energy to do much at all outside the house. The garden has been neglected apart from essential watering.

We are looking after the grandchildren this week and for a couple of days next week as they are their summer break. They don't need much looking after these days as they all do their own thing. They had a week camping with their mum and stepdad which they all thoroughly enjoyed. No devices are allowed on camping holidays but they have new kayaks so fun times was had by all.

We had a wonderful time in Hobart. We spent most of the time relaxing and enjoying time with our son and Aiden. He is so tall just like his dad and very much a teenager. We also had some trips out. The weather was cooler than at home.

OH dear Sylvia, colds are not fun. I have a sinusy headache and now I have earache. The snow is arriving as well, so I feel like going to bed until spring

We got a very late delivery today, a large box. I wondered what was in it. Then I remembered that I had won a competition which I had entered at Xmas. Sadly it was lots of cleaning stuff, worth £75.

I would have preferred something more exotic, but never mind. there is a new iron in the box along with lots of different cloths and some good looking pegs.
There are a couple of big things which I dont want,so I guess the charity shop will do well.

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Jan 2017 22:14

It warmed up on Monday and Tuesday, to about 3 or 4 above freezing. Now the cold is back again ............. although it is nice and sunny, with a blue sky

OH very kindly (NOT!) shared his horrible cough with me ......

.......... he came down with it on Saturday evening, was apparently up and down all that night taking stuff with no regard to time of last dose (I was sleeping in another room). By the time I was aware of him on Sunday morning, he was getting very confused about the time of day, or even what day it was, and kept refusing to drink or eat anything.

Dratted men!

He was better on Monday, and we went out for afternoon coffee with our friend.

I came down with it late on Monday afternoon, hardly slept that night, and had to cancel my Physio appointment on Tuesday morning. I was not happy about that.:-(

I feel a bit better now .......... at least, I am not coughing constantly ............. although this is my first time up today

and .............. I am making sure I eat and drink

Good to see you back Sylvia, you seem to have caused mayhem, but had a good time at the same time.
Don't go falling on the ice, it is cold and rainy here, but we have only had one icy day. There is plenty of time for the dreaded snow to arrive yet of course
