Back at the hospital again, this time for a bone density scan. Well not me but the man I am driving, hopefully this won't take as long
I got a brilliant bargain on EBay this morning. We have a slide and a swing for when Eve comes to stay, but she is the monkey bar queen We have been on the look out for a climbing frame with monkey bars. One appeared only an hours drive away, but the silly woman had made a mistake and listed it as a buy it now price of 99p instead of a starting price of 99p. I immediately bought it, then sent her a message to ask her if that is what she meant to do. Icould have held her to it, but I am not that mean, so we have come to an amicable arrangement. We are going to collect it tomorrow OH has to dismantle it, so I hope it comes apart

I am glad you managed to speak to him Sue. I have been giving him a rest from my voice after pestering him to do with his tree.
I know Sue next door comes in for coffee with Milo most days at 10am, so I avoid that time
I have just been trying to make sense of our new recycling leaflet. We are finally going to be able to recycle much more than we have been able to, still not food waste though.
We will now have a green bin for compostable garden waste, you can't put veg peelings into it though A black bin for landfill items A black bin with a purple top for recyclable A blue box for glass jars and bottles
Good job we have plenty of room to store them. I don't know what people who live in smaller houses are supposed to do with all of them.

Hello everyone :-D
I've just been talking to our dear Tec who is sounding quite well. We both enjoyed a lovely chat until a visitor arrived and we had to cut our chat short.
I am also having problems with GR and not just the "error" message. Sometimes I can't get on the site at all :-(
You are very welcome to join us on our Tassie trip, Linda <3

What a busy day
First of all, it was the christening of next doors twin boys. We went straight from there to the cinema to watch Dads Army. It was rubbish, well we both thought so anyway. It was filmed at Bridlington, scarborough and the Flamborough Head area, so it was of local interest if nothing else
There is another storm brewing, but this one is down south, so it has a posh name of Imogen. Up north, we get names like Henry

Fed up with this site.. each time I submitted I got an error message telling me it wouldn't work and try again.. did it three times, so I hit control x and kept my message, refreshed the screen and it was there 3 times. bah humbug.
Good to see you on here from time to time Tec. I don't expect you get to look on Facebook now..
Sue, strangely I was not getting stressed about finding a place.. more worried about when we did having to go through the moving process again.. now that does stress me.

No Linda, this one only came on the market in January.. it's a do up. Very close to town wooden Art Deco, cost more than I would have liked but we had this late bidder and I actually don't think she knew what she was doing. She bumped the cost up by $4k twice and we just added another $1k each time. I am sure she doesn't realise what has to be done to it. However, prices have gone up up up whilst we have been looking. It's smaller than I would have liked so we will be adding to it as well. I can find that other one, it was sold before Christmas.. once they come off the website you can only find them from the particular real estate that we use by another link.

Hello :-)
I am so sorry that Linda has gone grey while researching my maternal ancestors. I know how hard she has worked in demolishing the brick wall that has defeated me for years. I was disappointed that my tree would be left incomplete. Now with Linda's incredible efforts I can now put that section of my tree to bed. That means a lot to me, and now I can hand over years of research to my daughter when the time is right. My maternal Grandmother, who I loved dearly, was difficult and somewhat mysterious in life, but I think it can be said she met her match in Linda :-D
Not much has changed here. The oncologist at the hospital has handed me into the care of the local nurses and palliative nurse.
There was nothing more he could do for me, and it was a waste of time doing the 90 mile round trip to the hospital, that I find very tiring now. Tiredness has become an issue. I am ready for bed at about 7pm, but I think that is to do with the medication.
My daughter visits every week, staying overnight . She does my shopping etc.
My grand daughter is doing very well. She starts her job in London on the 1st March, and she has found a nice flat in a shared a house, not far from where she will be working .She has met the others at the house, and apparently they are nice people, which is important when you have to live with them. Now she is looking for a holiday to start before she has to start work..
Today is wet, and dull, but not cold. The rain has been a feature this winter. We haven't had a frost so far. The plants in the garden are doing strange things. I have pots that have made good growth, and covered in large yellow daisy type flowers. They are supposed to flower in May/June.
Well as Linda has found me lots of work for me to do on my tree, I had better get on with it :-)
Love to everyone till next time Tec xxx

So pleased you have finally found a lovely house to suit you both Persie - I'm sure you're both feeling less stressed now.
Me...cheeky, Linda? Of course I am ;-)
We went for a drive today through our Royal National Park. It's a lovely drive and there is a very nice picnic area down by the river. Also a cafe where we had coffee and cake.
The children are all back at school so we are getting back into the weekly routine. We always go Tasmania at the beginning of March for Aiden's birthday but we are going to go for longer and have a trip up the west coast. I'm really looking forward to that.

My youngest will be 41 in a few days.. we will be down there later in the week.
I am wondering if we will get to go to August's school on the Monday before we head back through Hastings.
We don't do a lot of plumbing ourselves and electrical is a no no. One thing about renting, is if something is wrong they have to fix it.
Off to lawyers next week to sort all that out... and then when we get to Cambridge will have to sort out new Doctor etc.
We spoke to the insurance people yesterday and we have also got a valuer going around to check it all out so we get the right insurance replacement. Our insurances through out the country have changed ever since the Christchurch Earthquakes. Has to cover demolition and rebuild and they will provide exact cover.. but you do have to pay way bigger premiums. The rentals all have much larger premiums and we pay each one annually which brings the price down plus we have a collective agreement discount and the two that have alarms have another discount.
There is a calculator on line where people can go and work it out by footage etc but when push comes to shove everyone that seems to have done that has been proven to have a cover for replacement etc way below what it should be. It pays to be careful in the long run.

Tecs certificate arrived yesterday and it confirmed everything I had found out, so I am pleased. I still have more to do, but the brick wall is demolished with proof,

I spent this morning renewing my home contents and buildings insurance. I managed to save £80 on the renewal quote, which is good, but it means going through the annual comparison ritual.
We did the same for the car insurance a couple of weeks ago, so I only have the travel insurance comparisons to do in May, then I can have a six month rest from the comparison sites before I start all over again.
It is still extremely windy outside, but we are going to risk it and go out for lunch.
I am still waiting for Tecs certificate to arrive, but I had another go at the family last night, to no avail. I saw some grey hair this morning when I looked in the mirror, I am blaming his family

I hope your cold doesn't last long Sylvia.
I had another look at Tecs tree tonight, his ancestors really are the most awkward bunch on the planet. I need to wait a few days for the next certificate really before I can go much further

Hi
I wasn't ill, just busy up the family tree
but I am sick now :-(
OH had a cold mid-week, now I've got it.
Hopefully, mine will be like his ................ it really only lasted 1 day, with bad sore throat, sniffles, and then all but gone. I already feel a lot better than I did at 10 pm last night!
we're having rain, rain and more rain here :-(
our plumbing problem was a leaking pipe to the cold tap ............... the plumber just had to replace the section between the turn-off tap under the sink and the faucet to the sink. That was after he'd replaced a washer on the turn-off tap.
so we actually had TWO leaks at the same time!

New cistern, instead of just the internal mechanism :-0 Still if it looks nicer.
I wondered why you weren't posting. I don't have trouble getting in, I just get the error message after I post. I hope Sylvia isn't ill, she hasn't posted for a few days either.
It is bitterley cold here, but at least there is no snow, still plenty of time or that though before spring arrives.
I have had a lazy Sunday, reading the papers and relaxing, a bit like most days really :-)

Helloooo!!
I'm having problems with GR - it doesn't like me anymore and sometimes won't allow me access.
It's amazing when our children get into their 30's and 40's and yet we remember their births so clearly. Still our babies no matter how grown up they are. I find it odd hearing my son talking about 'his' staff and some changes he is making to 'his' business.
The plumbing problem was the cistern in the toilet. Leaking everywhere and deciding not to stop filling. We opted for a new cistern - that cost us $420 with labour but we are not complaining because he did a good job and promptly. Bit of a shock at 7:30 in the morning :-0

I have had a busy afternoon, I went to the supermarket, then came back and did loads of housework. I should have known better, but I thought, it wont take long to clean the gas hob. It is a stainless steel five hob type, so it dismantles into fifteen fiddly bits for cleaning. I did it and put it back together, it usually takes a bit of a fiddle to get all the jets dried out, so all the rings are lit properly, but it wasnt too bad this time. Except the sparkers wouldn't stop sparking even though the rings were lit. OH was out of course! Any way I had a think about it and realised that it must be one of the control knobs which was stuck down. The problem is, when you switch one ring on, they all spark. So I had to take all the knobs off and clean them all out and of course, it was the last of the five. OH came back just as I had sorted it
He is muttering out in the cold in the garage because he is putting the new light in. Last night he rigged it up to a piece of wire and the extension lead, so we could go out in the dark and play with it to see where it needed to go. He has drilled through the wall and got most of it done He just needed to connect two wires to a junction box, only the existing wire was about an inch short. Luckily there was enough slack in it, but he has had to pull it through all of the clips holding it up. He has almost finished now, so I think he deserves a sit down and a beer.
Why do jobs always take longer than they should?
