I know exactly how you feel ............

OH's mother was Welsh, and I get completely befuddled when I try to trace her ancestors. I can only do it for short periods of time!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Feb 2016 23:33

Sorry I have not been paying attention, I have been busy up a tree. After much frustration, I have finally seen the light, or I think I have The clouds parted on the road to Llanyre
Don't worry, I am not speaking in tongues, it is Welsh.

It is very difficult when you have no idea where these places are, or when you have to look back and copy them letter by letter when you want to type them :-(

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Feb 2016 21:20

all our spring flowers and shrubs are in flower.

I brought forsythia branches in last weekend .............. not to force them but because they were in almost full flower!

They are going to get a real shock if we get a cold spell ...... as is always possible of course.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Feb 2016 20:34

We cant complain about the winter temperatures so far, just about the amount of rain. It is a shock to the system now it is suddenly very cold. Still it will kill the bugs off in the garden,so that is good.
The plants are going to get confused though because they were thinking it was spring already

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Feb 2016 19:54

he's good!!!

Son-i-l puts them all on at the same time, never asks how you would like it :-(

Fortunately, he doesn't bbq in the winter :-)

we're still in the warm spell ................ cloudy with sunny periods at the moment, rain expected later, but temperature to get up into double figures.

I said to OH the other day that I have never worn a light jacket or down vest (what you call a gilet??) outside as much as I have this winter.

We usually need warm jackets and coats almost all the time from at least November to March.

The inside heating is about the same as we always have it in the winter at about 20C, although I do turn it down in this south-facing room when the sun is out ......... and I haven't had to wear a cardigan or fleecy/down vest inside more than about 5 times so far.

Unfortunately, the European cockchafer larvae have continued to live and thrive because it is so warm, the crows are having a super time digging them up and throwing small clumps all over the place as they do so. Our lawns and grass strips on boulevards are in terrible shape ............... there is no legal way to control them :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Feb 2016 18:10

He actually did it just right, which is amazing. He puts his in and incinerates it before he adds mine to the griddle

It is freezing here, the house was feeling cold despite the heating being on,so I have been round and closed all of the curtains to help it warm up

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Feb 2016 17:32

my son-i-l also incinerates meat :-(

I don't like it still bleeding, but I do like it pink->red in the middle

But, as you say ........ at least he is cooking :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Feb 2016 17:19

I am boggle eyed as I have been helping someone with a tree, it has gone well, so I am pleased

I must get round to mine :-D

OH is incinerating steaks for dinner, the concept of rare is beyond him. Still at least he is cooking, somI should be grateful.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Feb 2016 23:16

I did indeed, thank you.

I always go to an old church which is now a community cafe run by volunteers, with a Fairtrade Shop. The excellent food is home cooked and cheap compared to most places. I like to support the project

I bought lots of Easter bits for the lady I take shopping on Wednesdays. She wants to make up some Easter baskets, but we couldn't get everything she needed locally

a day out on your own is good :-)

I hope you enjoyed your lunch

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Feb 2016 15:04

I have had an adventure today, I went to York on the bus as OH was out with the car.

I only wanted to go to M&S to get some new socks, but I had lunch out as well.

It was very sunny this morning, but now it is bitterly cold out there, so I am glad to be hoe

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Feb 2016 22:36

messy!

Yes, it's a problem when that happens, but I'm glad that it doesn't usually cause you any problems.

OH was running around looking after me last night ...... HE got grumpy when he found me walking around

But he couldn't go to the bathroom for me, could he? :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Feb 2016 19:39

Oh dear, that sounds sore Sylvia, I hope it settles down soon

My knee aches some days, but is mostly fine. The only problem is that it suddenly locks somehow and makes me judder sideways. Most of the time it is fine, but the other day I thought I was going to fall. I didn't but I ended up throwing the plates and cutlery I was carrying onto the floor. Luckily nothing broke, but I had to clean up the food scraps

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Feb 2016 19:20

how sad :-(

It sounds as though he needs some help, with the personal care of his wife in particular.

I am sore :-(

My knee has been bad for a couple of weeks, I had a good idea of what was wrong and tried to deal with it myself, but hindsight says I really should have tried to get in to see him before yesterday.

The bone (fibula) on the outside of the lower leg fits into a very shallow socket in the knee cap, and it can easily slip out in some people ......... like me

It can be worked back into place, and Matt has taught me how to do it, but I just couldn't manage it this time. Sooooooooooo ...... he spent the whole session working on it as it had sort of "locked"

As he left the room afterwards he said "you're going to be grumpy this afternoon. That knee will hurt, but it will be better tomorrow"

Yep ............ except it also hurt overnight, and is still a bit painful this morning.

I have to keep working on it until my next appointment in 3 weeks ......... and he'll give it another go-over then.

It is cloudier today, but the sun is expected to appear this afternoon.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Feb 2016 11:48

I hope you aren't too sore after Physio Sylvia

It is a very sunny day here, but only 3C. I have just collected an elderly couple from an outlying village and brought them to the dentist. The wife has dementia and is in her slippers with bare legs. She smells of wee as well. Very sad as he is frail and is obviously trying his very best to look after her

I have my usual lady to take shopping this afternoon as well, so it is a busy day.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Feb 2016 01:07

I had physio today

we are having some lovely weather ..... the sun is shining in cloudless skies, and this is forecast to last until at least Thursday. The nights are cold and clear ............... it got down to 1C last night, but the moon was beautiful!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 23 Feb 2016 20:12

I have been neglecting my tree today, I knuckled down to the housework instead and fitted in a trip to the supermarket as well.

I still need to clean the inside of the windows before I will be truly happy :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 23 Feb 2016 00:02

Someone posted recently that FMP is updating the records as fast as possible, so that closed records can be opened ....... and they do have access to GRO bmds up to 2006 or 2007, depending on the record.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Feb 2016 22:16

I have put lots in, but still have lots to go, There are lots of descendants from just a couple of generations up and lots of previously unknown children of course.

I first looked when it came on line and I bought credits. I have been looking back at those and it is surprising just how many blacked out lines have now been opened up

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Feb 2016 21:22

Linda ...........

that's why I haven't been on here very much ..................

up the 1939 Register tree :-)

I thought I wouldn't use it very much, but I'm managing to close off a lot of sied issues

Plus, someone asked something about US records, and I told them they were on FMP World ................. then realised that I had access to them as well, so I've been trying to sort out some side lines in Canada and the US.

We are the first immigrants in the direct line, but lots of siblings form both our ancestral lines moved around the world in the 19C
