Hello you two :-)

We also have loads of books. Mostly non fiction. OH doesn't read much fiction but I do. Mostly on the kindle these days.

You are a silly woman Linda :-|

I can't stay for long. Sadly we have a funeral to go to. I have been asked to say a few words so I'm a little nervous but I'll get through it.

This afternoon OH is going down the coast camping with SIL and the children for a few days. The house will be quiet as my son is hardly home at the moment. It will be nice :-)

I would have done the ironing :-D

I like it, find it very relaxing - you should sit down to do it like I do, instead of aggravating your knee - silly woman :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Jan 2015 20:35

I am sure she will be pleased to take some away

I have just done the ironing and now my knee is aching :-(

My SIL works voluntary since she sold her business, in two charity shops, a hospice shop, and the Cat Rescue shop.
She is coming here on Sunday, so I may persuade her to take some.

We have two charity shops in town. The Air Ambulance, and the Red Cross. I will have a word with them next time I'm there.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Jan 2015 17:25

The charity shops will be pleased with your mystery books as they are the sort of things people like to read. If you can get them all together one of the shops would almost certainly collect them from you.

I don't read much these days unless I am on holiday but then I use my Kindle. I ought to read more but then I get sidetracked

There are stacks of books here that are the Duchess's. She never gave books she'd read away, and she read a lot.
They are not my kind of books, I rarely read fiction. She read detective thrillers, murder mysteries, spy stories etc. There are hundreds of them.
The large wooden trunk in my lounge is full of mystery books.
When you and Sue were here I meant to ask you if you wanted any. I don't know what kind of books you read. All these are in new condition. Some have never been read.
The Duchess was a member of "The Book Club" so ordered by the box full.
I remember that Berona read the same kind of books, but she lived so far away.

Some of my books are collectable, and some are quite old. I used to collect children's books and annuals from the 1930s, 40s.
I've got a complete set of leather bound Dickens books - all sorts of books.
Some can go, but some I can't part with.

The nurse came again this morning - she thinks I need to go back to Shrewsbury to have my leg scanned, which I was hoping for when I went recently.
I knew there was something going on with that leg, but the surgeon said everything was fine. I knew it wasn't, by the pain I was having in the artery. Silly man.

Been a lovely sunny day today, and that awful wind has dropped.

It is good that you have your dining room back, you will have to go in every day to talk to the fish or they will be lonely

What on earth are you going to do with all those books? I used to work with a couple who were avid book collectors, they kept every single book they had ever bought. They had lots of shelving put in their attic to store them. Then he got ill and after he recovered, he decided that he had better do something about them while he could. I think he toured every charity shop in the area giving them away.

Maybe every time your daughter comes she can take some of your bric a brac away for you

Tecwyn Report 2 Jan 2015 15:17

I've heard the song "Who is Sylvia - what is she" but never Angela. Maybe someone you know by another name?

My daughter and SIL have left for home. They worked very hard while here, and I now have my dining room back - which is nice, and gives me another room to sit in.

Also mission accomplished, I made it up to the top floor for the first time in over a year. There is so much to get rid of up there. Furniture no longer required that can go to auction.
Bric a brac collected over 50 years that can go to boot sales.
Over 1,000 books that need to be sorted. Some I can't part with, but many I can.

I shall dismantle Christmas on Sunday - thank goodness.

Who is Angela?

A smartie for the person who can tell me who she is. We have no idea, but we got a Christmas card from her. All that is written inside is
To ......... and ....... (our names)
from Angela with love

i don't have any one called Angela in my address book and OH has no idea either

All very odd

Xmas is officially over as everything is packed away for another year. It is amazing how dusty surfaces get when they are covered in baubles and you can't clean them. Still all is clean now

The only casualty we discovered was a broken ornament, I think Eve must have picked it up and chipped a lump off. I didn't move things this year, so it is my fault. I don't mind, we would rather have her here

Thank you for your good wishes Elizabeth, I hope you have a good year as well

I am glad you are feeling better Amanda, I hope your cough doesn't linger too long

Don't worry, I am sure that super gran will be seeing lots of Poppy in the future as well as the others :-D

I am just about to take down the Christmas decorations, we are just about to embark on another countrywide tour, so need to do them now

I expect I have missed you all :-( Never mind , better luck next time .

It is all rather strange trying to get to grips with this new fangled machine . I know the old one was a real clonker but it felt homely . It's like being in a new house with no familiar furniture :-S However , it is also super fast and the keypad works properly .......lol

I think I'm almost over the flu ( or whatever it was that I've been suffering with ) , I'm just left with a painful dry cough for the time being .

Tec , little Poppy is getting along well thank you . I've hardly seen her since she arrived , what with the fuss of Christmas and the following ill health . She was bought round today and I got to give her some cuddles :-D

Sweet dreams everyone x

I much prefer Margaret Rutherford - to me she was the perfect Miss Marple. I do enjoy some of the newer ones.

Must be off - things to do, places to go.

Goodnight friends <3 <3
