Hello Persie, the decorations have gone from the UK site, for me anyway

Hello Linda,

The place is warm.

I was so stupid this morning - I wanted a couple of things from the shop. I has been a really foul day, wet and very windy.
Took the car up to the shop and parked opposite,
Got out of the car, but the the wind was too strong for me to move to cross the road.
The girl in the shop spotted me and came out.
She kindly fetched what I wanted and I got back in the car.

I was.nt desperate for what I wanted. Stupid old man :-(

Love rail travel, himself was never keen on it, but did do the daylight train to Wellington and back because I was keen to do it and he said afterwards that he could probably do something similar again. I was brought up on train travel, my parents did not drive and I thought it was the norm to go up and down the country by train.. and boat across Cook Strait.

I was just observing as I cam on here that GR still have their Christmas Decorations up.. 12 days and all that has past and gone..

Two birthdays sounds like a very good idea Sylvia.

I prefer the train to being cooped up in the car

re the mileage .........................

it's almost 6500 km by train ................ each way

but someone else was driving the engine, while we sat and chatted, read, and ate fabulous meals :-) :-)

it's just over 6100 km each way by road.

Hi Linda ................

OH and I are going out for dinner tonight to the little "bistro-style" place near home, then we are going over to the Island in about 10 days to celebrate with our friends over there. So, I will have 2 celebrations :-)

What a lovely gran you are Sue, Drew is a very lucky boy.

We are safely home,so I am looking forward to putting my feet up and having a lazy couple of days to catch up.

It is good to see you back after your jaunt Sylvia, we just did a couple of laps of England, over the holidays, but I think your mileage will have been more

SueMaid Report 7 Jan 2015 11:23

We had the most interesting morning at the radio station. Drew was introduced to so many people and shown around all areas but it was the actual studios that he was excited about. He got to sit in the newsroom with the headphones on and he met some of the announcers - his favourites. He had a smile on his face for the rest of the day :-D

I won't be on chat in the morning as I have a couple of interviews to do.

Talk later :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 6 Jan 2015 22:55

Bye Sue - Hope you both have a great day at the radio station. :-D

I best go and get ready.

Goodnight <3

I've seen the jacaranda trees in bloom - magnificent.
We can't grow those here.

What a lovely day for Drew - imagine he will be so excited, and interested.

Wish I'd had a grandma like you :-D

SueMaid Report 6 Jan 2015 22:15

What I love is the jacaranda in bloom next to flame trees. Seen here in Spring they really are a sight to behold.

I have a great set up for Drew today. He absolutely loves our local radio station - he says he wants to go up in a helicopter and do the traffic report. I've organised a tour of the studio today :-D

Yes Sue, I've got a fabulous display of winter pansies in the front where the sun gets.
They are orange, white, and some dark red. Also the polyanthus are in bud.

There is a wattle tree in a front garden on the main road - we know it as mimosa, that flowers in February every year - beautiful to see in winter.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 6 Jan 2015 21:49

That's amazing Tec. Do you have winter flowering pansies? my geraniums flower most of the year. I cut them right back in winter but still they send up the odd flower stem.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 6 Jan 2015 21:41

Hello Sue,

It was a perfect day when you visited, in so many ways.
We are very lucky with the weather - there is always something flowering all year round, whereas just a few miles inland everything is dead and cut down by the frost.
I still have geraniums, and lobelia in bloom in my garden.
A huge red rose opened on New Years Eve,

Hello Sylvia - how nice to see you <3 Happy New Year to you and your family.

Ah that's brings back some good memories Linda. Please give your sister and BIL our best wishes.

I can't imagine it so cold where you are Tec. When we visited you the weather was perfect.

Hi Tec

somewhat similar to us then ............... here in the banana belt corner of BC :-)

We do usually get 3 or 4 snowfalls a winter, usually 5 cms or less, and it usually disappears within 2 or 3 days ..................... while 50 miles inland, they're having blizzards and heavy snowfalls that lie for several days, plus temperatures quite a way below us.

Vancouver drivers after a snowfall are the joke of the whole country :-D

Linda ...............hope you are enjoying deepest Shropshire :-)

Safe trip home tomorrow
