I hope it stays on so your stair lift works, maybe you should go upstairs now

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Jan 2015 22:20

It is difficult Sue, we managed to work around her fairly well tonight, carving up jobs between us, but it is very difficult

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 14 Jan 2015 22:19

Aww - poor old lady :-D

SueMaid Report 14 Jan 2015 22:18

Sadly that happens Linda. Our secretary is now 80 and is starting to become quite forgetful. She has made a few mistakes that have caused problems but she has been the Rock of the organisation for years and it's so difficult to know what to do. Our president is so laid back that he doesn't seem to bother too much about what is going on.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Jan 2015 22:14

Hello Sue, I thought you would know about the meeting. The problem is that we have a committee member in her mid eighties who took over organising the volunteer roster six months ago when the person who had been doing it left. She refuses to use a computer and although she has been a stalwart of the cinema for many years, sadly she isn't up to it anymore. Trying to sort the mess out without hurting her is very difficult

Hello Sue,
Hello Linda,

The wind is horrendous here tonight - roaring down the chimney. Somebody's bin seems to be hurtling down the road - be in Ireland by tomorrow :-D

I shall phone the doctors in the morning to sort it out, then when the script is ready they can bring it out to me, and the same at the chemist.

There is no way I can get out of the car in this weather.

It does annoy me that I have to go to all this trouble due to their incompetence .

Linda I didn't know that you were a head banger - I do have a spare bit of wall - perhaps we could bang our heads unison :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 14 Jan 2015 21:56

Ahh.....one of those meetings Linda. I have a special piece of wall set aside for head banging.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Jan 2015 21:41

Oh dear tec, that isn't good enough. Maybe one of the nurses could bring the prescription to you, but then you would still have to go into town, unless she took it to the chemists. I hope you will be OK in the wind tomorrow

If you got the number for the chemist could you phone them from your car outside and ask someone to come out to you?

the telephone man didn't come back for ages, but as his meter was dangling from our box, I knew he would turn up eventually. Poor bloke looked frozen when he did come back. Anyway it is all up and running again.

I have been to a meeting this evening, do you have a spare bit of wall I can bang my head on please

SueMaid Report 14 Jan 2015 21:38

Hello :-)

Tec - that is dreadful. I am lost for words to describe how I feel abou the inefficiency of the surgery. Apathy indeed :-(

We are also allowed a small amount of a prescription drug in an emergency but only at a pharmacy where you usually go for your medication.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 14 Jan 2015 21:09

Hello Sylvia,

It is currently 9pm in the UK.

The pharmacist here won't release drugs without a signed GPs prescription. They are very strict about that.
I shall go to the surgery in the morning and enquire what went wrong. If the script has gone astray I shall wait until another can be raised and signed by a doctor.

This normally takes 48 hrs, but I shall sit and wait until I have a script to take to the chemist :-(

Hopefully, I won't suffer any effects of not having medication.

Linda ..............

I do my exercises in the morning, so managed to do most of them this morning.

The knee is still sore though!

I'm also supposed to try a different insole ......... which I did yesterday evening. I won't be trying that again until after we get back ............... I think it will be a matter of 1 or 2 hours a day to see if I can get used to them :-(

My knee really hurt after I took off my house shoes with the different insoles at bedtime

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Jan 2015 20:56

oh dear Tec

Can your chemist let you have an emergency supply of the drug to tide you over????

Our pharmacies are now allowed to do that ................ they won't give you a lot, but usually enough for a couple of days, until you or they can contact the doctor.

I do hope you don't have any problems because of it. xxxx

the silence from Yorkshire is indeed ominous ......... although Linda did say she had to go out "this evening"

Is it evening in Yorkshire now????????

I'm just about to have my lunch :-)

then it will be time to go for coffee ...................... and the bank to get some money for our weekend away :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 14 Jan 2015 19:34

The silence from Yorkshire is ominous :-0

guess the telephone engineer didn't get his hug then :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 14 Jan 2015 16:13

I have everything crossed :-D

As I have difficulty crossing my legs these days, I shall cross my eyes as well as my fingers :-D

Do hope the man sorts it out - you must be sure to give him a hug if he does.
He won't mind - could probably do with one :-D

No snow here - though the forecast for tonight is grim.

I am furious with the surgery. I put in a repeat prescription at the end of last week, which is delivered to me today, Wednesday.
No one turned up, so I phoned the chemist. They had not received the script from the surgery.
Now I have to chase it up tomorrow, as the surgery is closed on a Wednesday.
This will mean a trip into town, regardless of the weather.
Now I have run out of a very important drug that I take nine a day. Grrr :-(
Why are all systems falling apart? apathy has set in I assume.

Rant over, I shall have a coffee now. :-D

Ooh I take it all back, a BT man knocked on the door, good job I hadn't gone out. He looked at the box, looked perplexed and went off to the cabinet, leaving his meter attached to the box and saying he would be back soon

Keep everything crossed

Grr, just had a phone call from Virgin media, as a result of me finding their Facebook page and filling in a report on there.
He didn't seem at all concerned about the lack of phone or broadband, they don't know when it will be resolved, but don't worry he has given me a months credit on my account.
Great, but I would rather be able to make phone calls and access the Internet. Thanks to the neighbours I can get my iPad to connect, but my laptop won't which is a nuisance as I need to do some admin for the cinema which involves being on line with my laptop

I have been digging around based on the fact that the repairs seem to suggest I am with Talk Talk not Virgin. I had Virgin because I used to live in a cabled area, but when I moved here there is no cable, so it was back to the old ADSL copper telephone wire. Apparently Virgin don't want non cabled customers anymore, so have sold us all to Talk Talk. I notice my router name has now disappeared from the list of options and has been replaced with ethernet2 which suggests the whole router needs to be set up again. That is annoying as it is a brand new router which my son in law set up for me at Christmas, he had a bit of trouble with it, so I hope I don't have to do it

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Jan 2015 09:32

That reminds me Sylvia, I must do my exercises, I didn't do any yesterday as my knee was hurting after all the prodding. I took some pain killers as I went to bed and once they kicked in, I had a good nights sleep.

I didn't mean the satellite dish Persie, I meant the foot spas and the other things your family have borrowed

It is a winter wonderland outside, everything is covered in snow, so I won't be venturing out until this evening when I have a meeting, but I will take the car as it is too far to walk in any case

Hi everyone

I was at my physio's today .................. he found the spot at the side of my knee that really hurt, and then worked away on it. :-(

I then fell asleep after he put the hot pad on my back and left me alone for 10 minutes :-)

I did accuse him of being a sadist some time ago ....................... he grinned at me, and said "Of course we are"

I have been going to him since 1997, and our birthdays are on the same day

...................... and he's from NZ (New Plymouth area)

My doctor's office often have medical students "visiting" and "observing" ................... as we see the Residents, they are the ones who are teaching the newbies :-)

There's often only a couple of years difference in age :-D

I do find I learn things if I listen carefully as the "supervisor" teaches the "student" ....... especially when the dermatologist was teaching 5th year students about skin cancers, the first one how to diagnose it and then the second one some weeks later on how to remove a basal cell carcinoma

Like Sue ................... we have more of the kid's things in our basement than we would like. OH often threatens to throw them out, but never actually does so. We're trying to get her to say what she really would like and really not like of our belongings, so we can do some de-cluttering ................. even if it is only as far as asking nieces and nephew if there are any family "heirlooms" they would like.

It's foggy here in the mornings ................... but this afternoon was lovely ................ blue sky and sun :-)
