I was not born until after the war :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:54

They have them in the hurricane areas of America - if they're lucky.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:53

Anyway, they don't have tunnels, that is wrong, I have just been reading about them :-P

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:52

I spent part of the war in a shelter buried in my grandfathers lawn, with grass over the top - I remember it well.
Wet, dark, smelly of oil lamps and candle grease.

We dived in there when the siren went in the night

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:50

That makes sense, only I have never seen anyone pop out so haven't seen the tunnel

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:49

Because you have a tunnel leading away from the house to open ground where you can pop up.

:-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:46

We all should have storm shelters under the houses, except I have never understood them. If the house collapses and you are in the shelter, how do you get out when a load of rubble is piled up on the doors :-S

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:43

They must have thought the population were all stupid,

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:41

Every one knows radiation is stopped by cardboard, so sound advice :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:36

Linda, I thought the advice to put cardboard up the windows was hysterical :-D :-D :-D :-D

We know that you were only a toddler Sue :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:34

If you say so Sue :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:34

Snow in Sydney in summer would be a novelty :-D

They forecast minus 15 in parts of Scotland tonight, and minus 10 in parts of the North. :-0

Not that cold here, but cold enough

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Jan 2015 22:33

I'm too young to remember any of that ;-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:31

I remember those stupid booklets they gave out telling you what to do incase the bomb went off. I don't think hiding under a table or in the understairs cupboard would really have helped

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Jan 2015 22:30

Last one? We are behind you so we have that episode to come.

Snow in Sydney yes but surely not in summer :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:22

I remember the Cold War with Russia - we were convinced we would all be nuked :-0

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jan 2015 22:20

I'm still a secret agent - for the Welsh mafia :-D

It did snow in Sydney a few years ago, but not in summer :-)

Sadly that was the last Foyles War - excellent production

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:20

It was the last ever Foyles War tonight. I read an article by the author today and he said it would be too difficult to write any more about after the war because the world changed so that the Russians became our enemy instead of the Nazis, so it wouldn't be the same

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Jan 2015 22:16

Hello Tec. We like Foyles War too.

It would be very strange having snow here in the middle of a hot summer :-D

It cooled down yesterday evening and we had some rain too. Today it's quite pleasant although drizzly.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Jan 2015 22:16

Ooh were you a secret agent as well :-D
