Hello Persie and Sue

We should have stayed in the B&b next door to Tec the first time we went Sue, but I think the other Sue wasn't doing it then

I have done Paris several times over the years Persie, there are so many other cities we still want to visit,so don't plan on going back there

Hello Sue,
Hello Persie,

Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday Sue, and a tidy garden too :-)

Persie - My daughter was taking a class at school who were doing WW2 she told them about her father being blown off the loo.
She then had a class of ten yr olds rolling about in hysterical laughter :-D

We don't have any trouble with traffic here, unless more than three cars pass through all at once :-D

Linda you little town does sound very nice - hope you have fun on your scooter terrorising the locals :-D

We don't have a pergola..there is a sail cloth awning over the front concrete "patio" ..which is absolutely useless when it rains.
I always thought they looked quite nice...have changed my mind now.

Himself keeps talking about overseas trips, but to be honest I am quite happy not to go now with all the carry on out there.. I said to him the other day I reckon you can cross Paris off your list. Would be quite happy just going to Tassie, and over to Perth, and back around South Australia..

Too far for me I am afraid. I hate big cities, but I like my little historic market town. It has enough facilities, but is still very small and friendly.

Spending my time driving in older people from the villages to doctors appointments etc, I wouldn't want to be out there, even though they are beautiful. They have no shops or buses,so once people can no longer drive, they are stuck

I intend to get a souped up mobility scooter so I can take my turn at terrorising people on the pavements :-D

We spent a hot day in Auckland yesterday.. and it took us half an hour from the shopping area we were at to get on the motorway to go home..I could have walked it in four to five minutes. Then we took the long way around to avoid where they have been working on the roads going south... When we went North we could see the traffic across the divide going slow as in single file..

Just before we got home we had to go through an area where the guys were working on the back road so OH was rather annoyed.. cause the tar and chips end up under the car.

I still have your blown off the toilet story Tec in my memories file..

And when we have Devonshire Teas here we put the jam on first and then the cream..do the same with pikelets.. though my daughter only has cream...when I do savoury pikelets I put smoked salmon and cream cheese.. sometimes pastrami and relish or aioli.

Hello friends :-)

I think it's lovely that you have friends that are so supportive - I would worry if you didn't Tec.

OH booked our entire holiday in Italy through Booking.com. They also sorted out a small dispute for us. We used them again in the UK to book a hotel in Glasgow.

We had a pleasantly cool day yesterday with a little bit of drizzle. We worked in the garden most of the day so we have a tidy garden.

Our daughter visited in the afternoon and we sat under the pergola while the children played in the yard. Very pleasant :-)

We frequently came down to Aberdovey for the day, and passed through here.

We stopped here to investigate a few times, Liked its remoteness. Hardly ever anyone on the beach. Lots of walks in the hills etc.

Far away from so called civilisation.

No regrets - it's a lovely place to live, although I know it wouldn't suit everyone.

How did you find it?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Jan 2015 21:27

Last summer it was like the United Nations in there.

Germans, French, Dutch, Russians, Americans.

It's amazing who comes to this little village really.

Relatives and friends who have visited over the years frequently asked how did I find this place :-D

They are just poking over the fence

Sue does have a "varied" taste in wallpaper :-D
she spends a lot of money on it.

How dare she show off my flowers :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2015 21:14

I just looked her up, very good rates and a snazzy taste in wallpaper in the bedrooms
You can see the flowers in your front garden over the fence

Yes sometimes people are visiting relatives, attending weddings, funerals.

There was a couple there the other day that were going to climb Snowdon - they were from London................... :-0 :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2015 21:08

You would have to be hardy to be there in the winter, or visiting relatives or friends I suppose

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Jan 2015 21:00

The B&B is running all year round. She had a couple in last weekend.
The bookings are few and far between in the winter, but she was very busy in the summer.
The B&B is with a firm called Bookings.com I think. They seem to send a lot of bookings her way.
Lots of people come back quite often several times a year.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2015 20:55

It is lovely that you have all been able to support each other

Does Sue run the b&b during the winter, or is it just seasonal?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Jan 2015 20:44

It is a good shop, and stocks almost everything.

The ladies would have no trouble running after me would they?

:-D

It is strange how things worked out. Sue's husband got ill with a brain tumour and I was able to help them then, taking and collecting him from hospital on the Wirral, and doing what I could for them until he died.
Then the shop lady lost her husband suddenly with a heart attack, and I helped her when I could. She was a friend of Sue next door.

Then things went awry here, and when I came out of hospital it was like the three of us had had a bad time in a short space of time, and now we are good friends.
I look after Sue's dog when she's away.
She comes in for coffee every day, which is good for me, as I sometimes wouldn't see anyone for days at times.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2015 20:32

You are very lucky to have such a good shop in the village. I only glimpsed it as we passed, but it seemed to be well stocked

You are an old charmer, so have the two ladies running after you :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Jan 2015 20:29

The shop lady is very good, she will always stay open normal hours.
When I couldn't get out she phoned me every day to see if I wanted anything.
She is the other lady I occasionally go to lunch with Sue next door.

They are the only friends I have here, and have been very supportive.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jan 2015 20:05

Sorry, I got distracted. It doesn't seem to be worth her while to stay open, but it would be bad if you went all that way and she had locked up
