There are boxes of stuff here belonging to my daughter from when she was at Uni - I have repeatedly asked her over the years to take them, and get the response

"I don't want them cluttering up my house" :-|

There is still a wardrobe full of the Duchess's clothes that she will never need again, so they can go soon.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Jan 2015 20:59

Lots of the stuff in the wardrobes belong to the "children", files and books etc which they wont ever need again. It is my daughter who is the worst, but I am slowly whittling away at everything and getting what she wont part with in boxes ready for the skip

There's nothing like forward planning :-D

Mercifully I don't have a garage anymore.
However, I do have two huge spare rooms at the top of the house, they seriously need sorting out - I have made a start.
It is too cold up there at the moment as the radiators have never been used and there is stuff in front of them.
When it warms up a bit I can spend more time up there sorting.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Jan 2015 20:43

I don't want to delve into the garage thank you'

I have freed up several large plastic boxes, so OH has been sorting things into those and boxes he already had. as he says, it will be much easier for me to tip it all into a skip when the time comes :-D

I have a quantity of wood, offcuts ect, that I want to saw up for the fire. I should have done it last year, but was otherwise engaged.

I have a very good circular saw, but I can't manage to operate it safely now.
So I sent to Screwfix for a chop saw, and an electric reciprocating saw.

Haven't used then yet, but unpacked them, and they seem to be just what I want.

The only way for a man to get his garage sorted, is for him to go away for the day while his OH does it.
Woman are ruthless, and will really sort it out.
Things will disappear that he didn't know he had :-D Job done.

What new toys have you got?

I tidied some more wardrobe and drawers out. OH is tidying the garage and throwing things out, although I don't think much has gone

Very dull, cold day here - I stayed in, and lit the fire, and played with my new toys.

My sister phoned from South Yorkshire, she has lots of snow, and it was still snowing.

Brr, it is super dooper nithering today. I went to the supermarket this afternoon and couldn't wait to get back inside.

There us lots of snow in South Yorkshire, but we just had sleet

I really wanted to see Paddington as well. It was on last week, but we didn't go

If it is still on in London at half term, I will take Eve to see it, but it will probably have gone by then.

It is raining this morning, I have nothing booked in for today, so I will go through another wardrobe while I am in the reorganising mood

I went down to Rotorua yesterday afternoon. Stayed the night with son and d.i.l. and came home today. I came the long way, and took loads of photos at Kopu, walking over the new bridge and back, photos of it and the old bridge, and the birds and scenery. I have put some photos on FB of Rotorua and Kopu, also one of tonight's "shepherd's delight" (??) sunset.

We don't say nithering but am au fait with it in books.

You can keep your Hobbit etc.. NZ have done very well out of it.. I have probably mentioned that the Hobbit was read to us at school when I was about 9 or 10 and it was just an excuse for me not to do lessons, however I do have one book and that is Tom Bombadil.. because I like the poetry.

My youngest SIL will have read the books and seen the films, his mother is also keen on it.

I still have "The Catcher in the Rye" and am still not interested in finishing it.

I read "To Kill a Mocking Bird" only recently and it was one of the best books I have ever read..

I have never read "the Secret Garden" but gave it to one of my granddaughters to read and she loved it. It was one of the books I recommended to youngster of six and seven who were good readers and twelve and thirteen years olds who were slowies and could not get into reading. (it worked)

I have had lunch today with a friend and her three youngsters.. I have given her a lot of my old childhood books because her daughter aged 7 loves reading. I came back with a bag of goodies from her for Christmas and I gave to all of them.. we generally have our Christmas some time in January as by then the children are bored with the holidays and it is not the overloading all on the one day of gifts.

They were to go to see "Paddington" this morning but were naughty getting to bed last night.. and their mother is hacked because she wanted to see it as well.

The Paddington movie is nothing like the books but having read them all and seen the movie I am very pleased.

We say "nithering" in this household too.

Our twins were born at 37 weeks Amanda - the doctor wouldn't let them go longer.

Goodnight everyone - sleep well <3 <3 <3

Enjoy the rest of the day, Sylvia <3
