No TV licence here either.. we used to have a radio licence and then a radio and TV.. got abolished.. it was too hard to police I reckon and Motels and Hotels could have all these Televisions and pay the one licence.

OH's uncle decided back in about 1985 (he died in 86) that to save money he would not watch TV.. so he hung a teatowel over the television set as if that was proof that he did not watch it.

We did not have one for a while and they came and asked me about it and I said yes we have one but can't watch it, it is over at my parents place in the wardrobe downstairs.. and they actually went over the shore and had a look.

we get discount offers for being seniors as well ....... and most don't even want to see our Seniors card....................


the ferry to the Island is half-price for seniors on Monday through Thursday ............... although you have to pay full price for the car :-(


It was free for seniors on those days until about 6 months ago .............. but the ferry corp decided they were losing too much money.



I get a reduced rate on my hair ..................... and on hotel rooms, and the trains across Canada, and, and, and :-)

Dont forget just to apply for a short term tv license next time it is due Tec, that way you don't pay for the full year when you don't need to

We get discount cards in the big DIY stores on certain days of the week, but unfortunately I don't live near enough to take advantage of them

We don't have to pay a TV license in Oz either. I have a seniors card and I am always happy to take advantage of the many discounts offered. I even get a cheaper hair cut :-)

We have to pay or go to jail.......

now £145 a year I think that's to the BBC
