Hello World :-)

Well that's my birthday weekend over, so now back to normal. Just a year older.
My daughter and SIL returned home this afternoon after visiting the Duchess.
I enjoyed the weekend very much. It was nice to get out in the sunshine yesterday, and we enjoyed dinner last night.

Thank you Carole - I hope that you enjoy your holiday and can soon recharge the batteries enough to get out and about in the sunshine.

Anglers on Persie's lake have to hold their licenses aloft on the fishing line. The licenses are red or blue, not the hooks.
The fish will only bite on the appropriate coloured licences, according to their species.
eels are not particular what they bite, so will bite anything, including the toes of unsuspecting paddlers.

Sleep well Persie

I am confused as to how the fish know if you have a license or not. Maybe the hooks are different colours, red for those with a license, blue for those without. So different fish will only bite on certain hooks. Yes that must be it :-D

I have just traded in some Tesco tokens in order to renew my senior rail card. For the upside down people, you can buy an annual senior rail car for £30, which gets you a reduction of a third off the rail fares.
I shop in Tesco's as it is the only large supermarket in our town, so have a reward card which gets me money vouchers. You can redeem these at face value in the store, but on line you can trade them up for all sorts of things. For a £15 voucher, I can get a one year senior rail card which would cost £30 if I just bought it normally
You can get a three year card which saves a bit of the cost but it is still far cheaper to renew it annually using the Tesco vouchers.

We pensioners have to save money you know :-)

I do appreciate that all is tidied up on the thread.. not sure who was responsible for getting it a bit dusty..

I looked on the board at the lake Linda to see what fish is in there.. some you can catch without a licence, and some where you have to have a licence.. some are not exactly nice to know and there are a couple of types of eels in there so do not want them nibbling on my feet.. I like to be able to see eels before they see me. No mention of what you have to use for bait though some apparently eat anything.

Hi ya Carole.. and with that I am off to bed..

have just watched Broadchurch and then we watched Inspector George Gently which we had recorded.. and now I am very sleepy and it is 12.45am..

Hello Carole, lovely to see you. I hope you enjoy your break. Billy Connolly should be good, the only thing I didn't like about his shows was the amount of swearing involved, but I think he has toned that down now

Good morning Linda.

I tried to post this morning but Ive been having problems for some reason.

Happy belated birthday for yesterday Tec, I'm glad you enjoyed the day :-)

Ive been flat chat at work and I am so looking forward to my break. I think I'll sleep for the first week lol
I am off to see Billy Connolly in the first week of my hols. My lovely daughter organised tickets last year and I am so looking forward to seeing him again. We went the last time he was out here.

Good morning from the land of bacon sarnies, all is now tidied up on the thread.

I hope Sue and Persie haven't melted in their dreadful heat. We have no white frost outside, so it should be warmer than yesterday thank goodness.

Goodnight Linda, sleep well,

I like to see a well kept lawn.
We had a beautiful lawn once, and then I had two Labrador dogs, and the lawn became a quagmire the first wet winter.

I had better go to bed now, as I'm seriously old.
Thank you for my birthday party :-D I did enjoy the champagne.

Sleep well Amanda , hope it goes well tomorrow

Enjoy your day Sue, and Persie - keep cool.

Goodnight,
Tec

Good night Linda , sweet dreams to you .

I shall be saying goodnight / good day to you all , I will be up like the lark in the morning I expect , one of the grand children are sleeping over and youngsters do tend to wake up earlier than one would like .

Happy birthday once again Tec .

The bloke next door is dead keen to have their lawn looking perfect.. he literally manicures it.. only a young chap... and now he has put his card in the letterbox re he will mow lawns.. well his place is certainly a good advert for it and he does all the outside area which is council property as well.

Some of the plots are completely ready to plant up , mind you , they are in the minority . There are 124 plots on the site , some are a real mess and the majority are somewhere in the middle .
It is at least a good idea to get the growing space cleared in preparation . :-)

Some people seem to spend all day rotovating, the soil is so smooth. Our looks smart enough for this time of year. OH doesn't like untidy allotments

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 24 Jan 2015 23:12

I suppose some people turn the soil over for the frost to break it down

Hello Sue of the famous slippers :-D

Linda , sorry to hear your OH broke a pane of glass , what a nuisance :-(

Don't forget that we always get the jump on you lot 'Op North when it comes to starting the growing year :-D

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 24 Jan 2015 23:07

Tec , as far as I can gather one is attempting to find the really unkempt plots , the ones that obviously look as if the plot holder has many be given up.

You'de be surprised how many plots look very well groomed and are just waiting for the off , the old boys are like athletes under " starters orders " ....lol

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Jan 2015 23:07

That is hot Sue, you need a swimming pool in the garden on days like this

I will send you Sue's slippers Persie, they are sure to attract fish, then you could bbq them for lunch, the fish that is , not the slippers :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 24 Jan 2015 23:04

You are all obsessed with my slippers :-0

Enjoy your coffee, Sylvia :-D

Persie - we have a very hot day forecast - 35C +. Then cool and showery for the next few days.

Hi Amanda :-D
