Carole, old piano stools are fetching a lot of money here, in good condition

My daughter said it's all going in the skip Sue, she has a minimalist home.

Looks like she's been burgled, or moving :-D

I love your terracotta pots Sue, I have been looking, no luck yet.

Tec, I saw a lovely old piano stool the other day. I was tempted lol

Oh Linda - did you really have to volunteer. You must start looking after yourself you know.

The charity shops here Sue are clued up to the value of things, they get valuers in, and are a bit cheeky sometimes.

The best places are what we call Boot Sales

You have some lovely things in your home Tec :-)

SueMaid Report 3 Feb 2015 22:25

You could have said "NO" - you are a volunteer. You need to look after yourself if your not well. Having said that - OH is taking on more driving because the council has lost some of their drivers due to failed medicals.

They hold a monthly auction here in the cattle market.

Sotheby's it is not, but they do have some wonderful antique furniture there, where the big old houses are emptied that people can no longer afford to live in.

Sadly, I have no space for another stick of furniture, because there are some real bargains.

Lots of other interesting small artefacts to

Some of the charity shops are getting very clever about what is coming into their stores. The Salvos have experts who put higher prices on some of their crystal and china goods. Annoying because they do get the stuff as donations and a lot of people wouldn't be able to afford the higher prices. I like the trash and treasure markets - I can usually pick up a bargain or two :-D

You must be joking. The driving scheme rang a few days ago and asked if i could do a job tomorrow morning,so I said yes.

It took ages to get the instructions on where she lives as it is on a country lane. She needs to go to the hospital about twelve miles away

Only when I had got all that did they bother to say that the appointment is at 8.30 am, so I will have to pick her up at 8am. Flipping heck, I normally don't get up until nine

You wouldn't have got to see the movie then if you were so busy Linda - I've heard it's very good. Time to warm up and look after yourself. I hope OH is feeling better.

Hello Sylvia and Linda :-)

I intend to Tec :-D

Sue, I found a Wedgewood coffee mug a while ago, it has a few chips on it but I love it. My coffee tastes amazing using it.
I am amazed at the things that can be found in charity shops and garage sales.

Hello Linda, You would have had a busy night then, just when you're not that well yourself - typical.
Another lie in tomorrow I reckon :-D

I am back. It was the Stephen Hawkins film tonight and incredibly busy. OH didnt go as he was not well enough. There should have been three of us, but the other woman didn't turn up which is odd as she is normally very reliable, so there were only two of us.

Good for you Carole :-) While in the UK I went into a few charity shops for books. I found a lovely piece of Aysnley bone china not old but nice, a nice Wedgewood bowl and a Liilliput Lane cottage. All very cheap. Much nicer than souvenirs.

Well done finding the old mixing bowls Carole, they would be better than anything made today. Keep hunting :-D

Sue, Linda is on cinema duty tonight.

SueMaid Report 3 Feb 2015 22:03

Hi Sylvia :-)

Where's Linda - cinema duty?

I am in a few gardening groups as well as local "swap, buy and sell" groups. It's amazing what you can learn from other people who share your interests.

Ive always thought I was born in the wrong era lol

I went to an op shop the other day and found some very old mixing bowls in perfect condition. Made so much better than the junk which is sold today. I'm going to use them in my kitchen.

Tecwyn Report 3 Feb 2015 21:55

I love anything to do with antiques Carole, seeing as I am one :-D

Also research a lot about areas my ancestors lived on the internet.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Feb 2015 21:53

Hello Sylvia,

Yes, 45 years is a long time. So happy to know they are still alive, and still together. Can't wait to exchange a lifetimes news.

I hope that the East coast weather doesn't arrive here - it's cold enough now.

Carolee

Carolee Report 3 Feb 2015 21:50

Good morning Sue :-)

That's wonderful news Tec. I have tracked down a few old friends on the other side.
There are lots of different pages you can go on of things that you are interested in. I am a member of a few antique pages. Some of the genealogy pages are great too. Especially if its an area that interests you.
