A celebration of life is a wonderful way for people to get together and talk, laugh and maybe shed a few tears.

It has been cold and windy here - well it is winter so I don't know why I'm surprised. We have been told that we may get small flurries of snow. Unknown here on the coast but it is coming up from the Antarctic apparently....brrrrr :-0

Not too warm in the UK family tell us. Last time we visited it was a glorious summer. The visit we had with Tec was on a warm sunny day. I'm sure he turned on the sun for us.

Sadly there are mentally ill people in the community who can be swayed by extremist views. I feel so sorry for her husband and children.

I am glad that you enjoyed the celebration of your friends life Sylvia.. I can visualise your OH chatting away to his old work colleagues, there is no stoping them once they get going.

It has been 30 degrees here for the last couple of days. The wind got up this afternoon, it was like being out in a hair dryer

that was such sad news yesterday

We had the Celebration of Life for our friend yesterday. Only a couple of people took advantage of the open mike to tell stories, but they seemed to really enjoy talking in small groups about J. Many of them were retired colleagues of J and OH, and couldn't stop talking!!

Another massage and facial :-D You are really enjoying a relaxing holiday Linda - pleased to hear it.

I was shocked to wake up to the news of Jo Cox's tragic death. Another 'hate' crime in the world. Some of my family live in Batley.

Chilly here and it looks like more storms are on their way this coming weekend....oh joy :-(

Of course it has cold meats and cheese, it has a huge selection for all nationalities, no noodles at breakfast though

I have just been for another massage and facial :-D I can still see wrinkles though :-(

It is windy again today, but still very hot It is better than being still and humid.

I love continental thunderstorms, they are much better than the ones we get at home. We haven't had one though

Did the buffet have cold meats and cheese too? We noticed that in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. In south east Asia they serve savoury noodles but most hotels have cereal, toast and made to order omelettes, fried or scrambled eggs.

Our nephew and his wife are in Corfu. They've had wonderful weather but had a massive thunderstorm the other morning. They seemed to enjoy it :-)

Ah ha, I spotted a tray of cake on the breakfast buffet this morning, it looked a bit like Madeira, some nationality must eat it, or they wouldn't have it.

It is very windy ere this morning, still very hot though. We are going to venture out on the local bus to Eloinda and have lunch there. The buses are cheap but run on GMT - Greek maybe time. Still they turn up eventually

There was lots of cake on the Italian breakfast buffet a couple of weeks ago

They don't have cake here, or I don't think so, I will look tomorrow, The food here is superb. As well as the buffet, the chefs are doing live show cooking, with different things every night.

Obviously I only eat a limited amount of low calorie food ;-)

Poor you having to eat at a buffet breakfast. What amazed us in Europe was the buffets serving plain cake. Did we eat it? Well as the saying goes....when in Rome ;-)

That is no good Sylvia, I hope your summer picks up soon. It is wall to wall sunshine here, 29 here, but going up to 32 for the rest of the week. Luckily there is usually a nice sea breeze which makes it pleasant.

Back home it is only 16 and raining. Sunday morning, but no breakfast in bed. I guess I will have to stagger to the extensive breakfast buffet :-D

how nice that each of you had a nice long distance chat with a friend :-D

It's turned chilly here .............. I put the duvet back on the bed on Thursday night, and turned the heating on in the whole house this morning when i got up

The high on Monday was 27C, today it is 17C :-(

SueMaid Report 11 Jun 2016 23:44

That's odd, Linda - I also had a nice chat with a long distance friend ;-)

Sounds like you're having a wonderful relaxing time. That massage sounds good.

Very chilly here now and where my son lives in Hobart it's actually snowing. Brrrr.....

Page 2 will never do Sue

We have had another lazy day. I had an hour long massage this morning which was nice, if somewhat firm, then a nice chat with a long distance friend, followed by an afternoon on the beach. What could be better :-)

Now there is time for a nice rest before dinner, the food here is excellent, so naturally, I am eating far too much

Thank you - Linda will send on your condolences and kind thoughts.

Yes it was a blessed relief to Richard and his family. The Duchess's quality of life was not good and Tec was worried about leaving her behind.

I have only just found out from Jem that the Duchess has passed away.

Please pass on my Deepest Condolences to Tec.

I also send my sympathies to Tec, although I am not sure (from my experience with my OH) that sympathy is exactly the right word, I know I was relieved when my OH finally died. But what other word can I use. I am thinking of Tec and his family,

I have just spoken to Tec. He managed to get to the hospital to see his wife, but didn't stay long as it was distressing for him. She didn't know that anyone was there, so passed away peacefully. He is relieved that it is all over for her and also because his biggest worry was that she would be left behind.

His daughter and son in law are there, so they are dealing with everything for him. I told him that everyone was leaving their condolences on the threads and that I would send them all to him once I get home. He is finding it very sad of course, but as he said these things have to happen. I know the Duchess was ten years older than him, so she has had a very long happy life, even in the last couple of years when even though she was very confused, she was content.
