masquerading under false pretenses???
I've just phoned the cab company we use to order a taxi for 9 am tomorrow (Tuesday) to take me to the Cancer Agency so I can become that "repsonsible person.
The woman's voice changed as soon as I said where I wanted to go, oozing compassion "Oh, of course you can! Is this for Mr xxxxxx? Oh, Mrs xxxxxx. We'll be there at 9am. Will you meet us outside?"
I feel a real fraud!!!!!
Have to get a taxi as I have never driven. We'll use the direct line from the Clinic to get a taxi to come home when he's released .......... but it won't be from the company we prefer to use :-(

Oh poor Tec - I also will be pleased when his nurse takes over.
Last night I heard what I thought was thunder or a low flying plane. OH said he didn't hear anything. This morning we found out we had had an earthquake at the time I heard the noise. Other people also said that they heard what they thought was thunder. Not unknown around here but certainly doesn't happen very often.

I am glad to hear that the other nurse will soon be taking care of Tec ... it is so important to have a trust in your medical people.

I spoke to Tec again, he said he was breathless and in a bit of pain in his back and chest. He tried to talk to his doctor, but she is away on holiday again. so he is just going to up his morphine a bit himself. That will be fine as he has been so used to having much higher doses over the last couple of years.
The palliative nurse had been to see him today, but he said she isn't much good. He was really pleased that she is handing over next month to another nurse who he has known for years and he thinks is really good at her job. I am pleased about that as he will be comfortable with her looking after him

we're getting hot weather again
we have had the heating on in the house, at least until about noon, for the last 11 or 12 days.
That's never happened before in June :-(

Hello :-D
I found us on page 2 :-0
My father told me that grandfather was a strong trade unionist at a time when it was difficult to get a job if you were in the union.
We've had 3 very cold days - colder than is usual for early winter. It even snowed in some places that don't often get snow. It was said that we may get some snow flurries but we didn't.

Sue
I didn't leave the UK until I married at the age of 27 ............. and, as I've posted elsewhere, I grew up knowing there was a divide between the north of England and the south, that there was a "wrong" accent and a "correct" one, etc etc
In the 50s and 60s, it was almost like being of the wrong colour when it came to getting certain jobs, being accepted, etc.
I was also politically active for the last 3 or 4 years I was in the UK ............ ironically enough for the Tories :-D :-D :-D . I/we have also watched UK politics quite carefully over the years, just as we've watched them in Australia, the US and of course here .............. ie, countries that we've lived in.
My father was strongly in favour of unions even though he was a Foreman in an engineering works and no longer eligible to be in a union ............. but he also voted Tory for most of his life, so far as I know.
But my back history has told me that there has been that divide for a very long time, and that the government in power has more often not paid enough attention to it.
As a result, I wasn't really surprised.
Yep ............. me, responsible :-D

Very interesting and I have to say I am a little surprised. However as I told my friend with the numbers after her name - I have never lived in the UK as an adult and cannot really have an informed opinion on the referendum.
I'm sorry that Tec isn't feeling his best - hopefully he will feel better once they adjust his medication.
A responsible person Sylvia? Really :-D :-D :-D

In my opinion, it is a terrible day
The markets are down, sterling is down, Moody's have put us on notice to loose our triple A credit rating. The economy is going to take a hit in the short term. Mortgages are likely to rise, wages fall. Landlords costs will rise, so rents will increase. The cost of borrowing money for the government will rise The welfare budget will need to be cut, so those living on benefits are not immune from this
I despair and just want to bang my head on the wall

Susan wiv ............
I've just seen that!
It's going to be an interesting ride that you're all going to be on!!!
Actually, some folk on an Expat site I look at are wondering whether the EU will force the UK to have ANOTHER referendum to prove this one is correct :-D
I sincerely hope not .......... that could go on for ever and a day!

The polls close in half an hour, then there will be a long night of waiting before we know the worst. They are saying it will be close, I hope they are wrong

Linda
Thank you for the information on Tec. I hope they manage to control the pain xx
Please give him my love when you next talk to him, and tell him that we miss him xxx
Thank you both for the good wishes.
I have to become a "responsible person" on Tuesday ............ OH has one of his regular colonoscopies, and they will only release him to someone responsible :-D :-D :-D
It will be interesting to see how the vote goes in the UK

I spoke to Tec this morning. The Duchesses funeral was on Tuesday and all went well. His daughter is still staying with him, sorting everything out.
The pain in his chest seems to be getting worse, so they are going to review his morphine next week. Despite that he was his usual cheery self and as usual told me to say hello to everyone

welcome home!!!
It has been so cool here that OH has turned on the central heating in the main part of the house every morning for the last 10 or 11 days :-(
I don't think I have ever worn a padded vest (gilet?) so far into June, nor have I had to keep washing long sleeved sweaters ............. I usually leave just 2 or 3 in my closet when I switch over from winter to summer clothes.
It's weird after those very hot weeks in April and May.
I saw the GP last Friday .......... the results had come back for a stool test I did the week before, and he wanted to "discuss".
Result .......... I have to have a colonoscopy, as well as the endoscopy. The GP's office is contacting the specialist, and now I'm waiting to hear when it / they might happen. GP thought they might decide to do them both in the same appointment :-0
He didn't seem too worried ....... said there are a lot of reasons why one gets a positive result to that test, but they have to check it out. I have no other symptoms.

Ooh are you coming back Sue?
The last couple of days on holiday were incredibly hot. Even on the way back to the airport at 7pm, it was 35 degrees. The terminal was a nightmare, there were so many flights going out, so it was jammed and about a zillion degrees. I have never been so glad to eventually get on the plane.
We got back home at 2am, but that was 4am Greek time, so I am very tired today. I have been to the supermarket this morning, but I have to go back again this afternoon to take my old lady shopping. I could do without that, but never mind
