My daughter is having awful trouble with an electrician who has done half a job then disappeared, leaving her with no proper light in the kitchen.

She is currently working with just an anglepoise lamp :-(

He is indeed. We have had a problem finding anyone to service the boiler for the last few years. I discovered this chap just before Xmas and he turned up straight away, so We will keep him

You need our plumber Sylvia. We have been having a problem with the boiler on and off for a few weeks. OH rang the plumber this afternoon. He said he would pop in on his way home, which he did. He fixed it and said that it didn't matter about a bill as her was on his way home anyway

Yeah..........we've heard that before :-D

OH phoned the company about 10 minutes ago ................


the plumber has been held up at his earlier job, but will be "there within the hour"

Well as it's only 11-30 am there is hope for the plumber yet. You never know :-D

It was a dull day here, but dry.
I spent a couple of hours in the garden pruning back some shrubs. Come indoors when I realised I was frozen.

Linda it does seem a complete waste of money to replace your meter now, when it will be replaced again soon with a Smart meter.
They probably had a stack of meters on the shelf in the stores. :-(

You are fortunate that your tradesmen turn up on the right day, albeit late.

There is a very strange custom here, that took me years to get used to.
A tradesman will arrange to come on Monday morning.
Monday comes and goes - nothing. Tuesday comes and goes- nothing.
So you phone him, and leave a message on the answerphone - no response.
Thursday morning, if you're lucky, the man arrives, says nothing about not coming Monday, and gets on with the job. :-|

Today I waited in all day as arranged for the District Nurse to arrive. She didn't arrive.
This is the third week this has happened.
She will no doubt arrive tomorrow, not mentioning today :-|

Admittedly I don't go out much these days, but I might want to, or need to.

I do have a life, but seem to spend a good part of it waiting around for people that never turn up. Grrrr

All my life I always made sure that I was on time, even early, for appointments.
Never once late on watch.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it just seems so rude, and inconsiderate of other peoples time, not to turn up to an arranged appointment at the arranged time or day.

it's cloudy here, but the sun is trying to break through. It apparently got down to 1C at the airport over night ............... that's about normal for February!

he said he would be here at 10 am, for a 2 hour block of time


it's now 10:35 am




no big problem, Oh just wants some piping checked and replaced before it bursts :-)

The new gas meter is in, only it isn't a smart meter. Apparently the smart meters are being rolled out in this area in July. There is nothing wrong with the original meter except it reads in cubic feet not cubic meters. Why they decided to waste money replacing it so close to the roll out of the smart meters goodness only knows

Of course not, Linda. I had someone come today to fix our washing machine as it's been playing up. He said 10.30 and he arrived at 1.00.

I meant to say earlier that I won't be able to chat in the morning (my time) - I have some work to do at the hospital.

Bright and sunny here this morning, no sign of the gas man yet of course
