On that thought I will bid you goodnight.
Sleep well Tec, have peaceful days down under

Tecwyn Report 11 Mar 2015 22:15

Yes Linda - it'll be the parade of ladies from Fairthingy at my door she probably objects to :-D :-D :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Mar 2015 22:14

Maybe it's the wild dance parties you keep having Tec

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 11 Mar 2015 22:08

What use have I of a wheelbarrow Sue :-D

I have one of my own that I no longer need.

The old lady has a record of having a go at me for no good reason. :-(

Poor old soul :-|

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 11 Mar 2015 22:04

I also have vague memories of my paternal Gt. Grandmother who also lived into her nineties. She was more or less bed ridden, but would bang on the bedroom floor with her walking stick for attention.
Which was frequently.

I was afraid of her :-D

SueMaid Report 11 Mar 2015 22:01

Oh dear Tec - what a nasty old woman :-( I have to admit I had a giggle at a vision of you stealing the wheelbarrow in the dead of night wearing a balaclava :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Mar 2015 21:57

Oh Persie - I'm worried about you too now :-( why can't you all behave :-0

I have vague memories of my paternal grandfather - I loved him dearly and from what I've been told I fretted for him when we came to Australia. It must have broken his heart too. My paternal grandmother died when my father was 10. I can remember a little of my mother's Mum but absolutely no memory at all of her father.

I also want to play a big part in my grandchildren's lives.

Tecwyn Report 11 Mar 2015 21:51

Don't worry Persie, she has had a lashing of tongue on the phone that she won't forget in a hurry.
She is old, but a nasty old woman, who is known to spread malicious gossip, so everyone just laughs, but I did take exception to being accused of theft.

I will have words with her daughter when she visits - someone needs to sort her out

Maybe she thought you nicked it to improve your balance...

She needs a telling off though.

Hello Sylvia - it is good to be home.

I don't why we have potassium if it's going to cause people all this trouble :-0

Did I tell you that the dotty old lady next door has accused me of stealing her wheelbarrow :-D

Now when did you last see a one legged man pushing a wheelbarrow? :-D

As she is telling the neighbours, it does amount to malicious slander.

The tablets I took Tec were the equivalent of over 100 bananas so the doctor told me.

Sue ......

it sounds as if you had a wonderful holiday with the children xxx

I never went on any holidays with my grandparents ............. although I did have a good relationship with Mum's parents

Dad's father died in 1914, leaving his wife with 6 children between the ages of 18 and about 4. The elder son was serving in WW1 soon after his dad died.

Dad's mother lived until 1938 ..... which was a few years before I was born. She was very strict according to my brother and older cousins who did know her!

We lived across the street from Mum's parents until we moved when I was 11, and I was always over at their house. My brother and I were the only grandchildren ................. only 1 of Mum's siblings married and they didn't have any children. So I guess we were quite special to them.

Before WW2, they did go on holiday with Mum, Dad and my brother, so he had even better memories.

Tecwyn Report 11 Mar 2015 21:37

Persie - I expect you have been told to eat lots of bananas, tomatoes, and nuts :-D

I've been told to avoid them like the plague.

What contrary people we must be :-D

My maternal grand father died when I was four, so I only have a vague memory of him. I know he was very tall.
My maternal grand mother, the one I mention above, was 96 when she died, so knew her into adulthood, we were very close.
My paternal grand parents were great fun, though he died aged 62, and she remarried in her seventies :-D to a really nice old gentleman who I liked a lot.

I think Tec and I can get quite easily mixed up by ourselves Miss Linda..

Persephone

Persephone Report 11 Mar 2015 21:35

I only had one grandparent living when I was born. My mother's father.. my mother spent all her life living with relatives etc .. first her grandparents, then boarding school then either her mother's sister's or her mother's brother's family. She was very very close to all her first cousins. Then she was in the army where she met dad. When she got married my grandfather came and asked if he could live with my parents.. my dad felt sorry for him and said okay... He rued the day, I did not get along with my grandfather that well at all, he was more a hindrance than a carer.

And like Linda I play a big part in my grandchildren's lives .. as much as we can.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Mar 2015 21:29

It is nice to be close to your grandchildren. Apparently ad I was the first grandchild, my grandfather doted on my, but I was only two when he died. My grandmother didn't die until after I was married. We used to see her regularly, but I wouldn't say we had much of a relationship. My mothers parents died before I was born.

I am determined That I will play as large a part in Eve and Esme's life as I can

What are you going to do with us Sue,

Tec with his potassium levels dangerously high

and me in hospital with them dangerously low... I think I might have been on to a winner though as they fed me well in hospital, after the drip came out... and yes lots of blood tests as well.
