Hello Persie,

I think we need to find Linda a long denim skirt.

A search on a global scale :-D

We can't have her feeling deprived :-D

Yes Amanda I like snippets of info like that, as you say, it helps to put flesh on the bones :-)

Gt.Grandfather must have recognised a straight furrow when he saw one :-D
all by horse in those days of course.

I have a long denim skirt, I had a one that was just below the calf but it has long gone to the rag bag and I have a shorter denim skirt which goes to top of calf .. I wear the last one a lot.. never needs ironing.

I can't see denim ever really going out of fashion.. Trousers come in all sorts of lengths and all sorts of styles.

I think I have six denim shirts, five of which were my youngest daughter's.. Two I only wear re painting and DYI... They are handy when the weather is a bit cooler and if it gets a bit colder I wear a T or similar underneath... Have all bases covered.

That's very kind of you to offer Linda , I shall keep it in mind :-)

Tec , your Gt Grandfather must have know a thing or two about ploughing then , I think it's little bits of information like that that adds flesh to the bones , so to speak .

Glad to see the little people are better.

I did access some newspaper archives some time ago - relevant to the area I was researching. That was quite interesting, and I found a few snippets.
No scandals :-D
Did discover that my Gt. Grandfather judged the county ploughing contest :-D

Hello Tec , the little ones that where ill have all bounced back quickly , thankfully .

It is sad that you didn't feel in the mood , perhaps the site will run another freebee soon . The newspapers where interesting to search .

Hello Linda , yes , I think lucky is the word , I don't think that many of those records actually hold a photo ( but I could be wrong ) . My cousins certainly all enjoyed seeing the photo via facebook .

I haven't had a contact from GR in so long that I can't even recall when :-(

Hello Amanda,

Glad that you dodged the bug - you must run faster than the others
:-D
Seriously, I hope everyone is restored to rude health very soon, especially the little ones.

You must be very happy to have found all that info on FMP. I was tempted to take advantage of the free weekend, but wasn't in the mood.
Brilliant to have found that photograph - a true find.

Hello Amanda. I saw your photo, you are very lucky

I have had two contacts from GR this week, so I am busy trying to find things out for them

Hello everyone .

I've had a read back through the thread and I hope that everyone is feeling better after the various ills :-0 <3

There has been a nasty sickness bug doing the rounds but thankfully we have escaped it .My daughters MIL has been down with it , as have daughters children , it doesn't seem to last long in the little ones but is knocking the adults for six :-(

I was busy on " Find my past " last week-end , taking advantage of the free weekend :-) I found quite a lot of snippets in the newspaper records , especially of my Chisnall folk , including a lovely obituary about one of my Gt Grandfathers . The icing on the cake was finding a photo of my Stacey Grandfather in the Merchant Navy records , I hadn't seen an imagine of him as a young man and was astounded at how like my Dad he looked back then .

I don't have a long denim skirt but I do have lots and lots of old clothes :-D

What do you do?

Wear them once, then discard.? Those that depend on the charity shops to clothe themselves must love you. :-(

I only have new clothes, so I wouldn't know

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 12 Mar 2015 21:08

You never know, denim may come back into fashion.

I suppose those long skirts must be like jeans, the more they are worn and washed, the more comfortable they become.

Oh well, I will just have to be out of the club now

Too late Linda - I don't think you'll find one now :-D

I feel left out, I don't have a long denim skirt :-(

Tecwyn Report 12 Mar 2015 20:41

Not saying the nurse lied - just depends on her interpretation of "comfortable"
I suppose in comparison to some nights I've had in hospital, I was relatively comfortable :-D.

I think the Duchess bought her skirt about ten years ago, when they were more fashionable.
She also has an ancient mohair cardigan here that she was very attached to. However, upon inspection it really was "past it", and too far gone to take to the home, but I still couldn't bring myself to throw it away although it will never be worn again.

I have dozens of shirts hanging in the wardrobe, but tend to wear the same six constantly, even though the collars are worn.
They do for indoors, and I'll wear a smart one for going out.

you mean the nurse lied???? :-D

Amazing how we get attached to certain clothes :-)

I bought this one about 10 years ago :-)

Hello Sylvia,

I was bound to sleep well after spending the previous night with people sticking huge needles in me every three hours, tangled up in wires and drips :-D

When my daughter phoned in the morning she was told I'd had a comfortable night :-D

The Duchess has a blue denim long skirt exactly as the one you describe. It has been washed hundreds of times over the years.
A little faded now, but she loves it, and has it with her.
