I haven't had anyone tell me I am barking up the wrong tree yet? However, I have told a few to change their particulars. One chap did tell me that we would be cousins, to which I said because one of mine married one of yours does not make us related.. You have picked up and run with the spouse's family which is not your family at all. He then said do you want me to remove them, I said please yourself just don't make out you are related to my lot.

My mother's lot are a bit of a mixed up bunch and have had to tell one bloke he has my grandfather's brother and another member of the same name with the incorrect families. Another one he had the two sisters married to the wrong cousins. They both married chaps with first and second names the same. It was a bit like a plate of spaghetti, with lines all mixed up.

You get better real quick Linda do you hear?

That's the one thing I don't mind is blood tests, they are quick and simple it is the dragging on of a drip that annoys me.

Linda - Sorry to see that you are still unwell.
I hope that you have a comfortable night, and feel better tomorrow.

Hello Sue,
It does annoy me when people make contact, giving no information, but telling me I am wrong.
Although I know I'm definitely right, and send lots of information to them, they still won't accept it.
Like you, I gave up, and eventually refused to reply to her messages.

Today was cloudy, but not too cold. I spent a few hours in the garden, and got quite a lot done.
My brother and SIL are visiting tomorrow.
Also the nurse who will want more blood :-(

Hello :-)

Tec - I also had a person contact me who insisted that my 2 x great grandmother wasn't who I said she was. She insisted that my great grandfather's step mother was his mother. Even after sending a death certificate and a marriage certificate of the 2nd marriage she was still adamant. I gave up.

Hello Sylvia,

The rest of this week is supposed to be fine and dry, up until Friday, when it will be cloudy, and possibly wet.
Annoying as there is an eclipse of the sun.
I remember the one around 2000. That was excellent, with a very clear sky.
Very spooky, the atmosphere and silence was amazing.
The birds stopped singing, and time seemed to stand still for a few minutes.

I think I have taken my research as far as I want to go now, unless something exciting crops up.

just popping in before OH gets home!

Glad you managed to get some time in the garden.

It poured with rain most of yesterday, and overnight .............. this morning dawned bright and sunny, blue sky, the whole lot!!

I'm not sure how far to go with this brick wall ............... after all, it is OH's 3 x gt grandfather's half sisters, and I don't usually trace siblings much more than "who did they marry?"

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Mar 2015 21:13

I haven't had a brick wall for ages, other than one that I've given up on.

I did have a PM from a lady in Canada some time ago, who claimed that I had no right to have her father and his siblings in my tree.
She was clearly wrong, and I sent masses of information to help her, but she was adamant that I was wrong.
I had relevant certs, and even though she admitted that the information a had on her paternal grand parents "appeared" correct, she still wouldn't have it.
Eventually I gave up, and stopped answering her PMs. :-(

I spent some time in the garden today. It was cloudy, but not too cold, and I got quite a bit of tidying done.
My brother is visiting tomorrow, and I have a little job lined up for him outside.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Mar 2015 20:30

unfortunately, certificates won't solve this problem for me.

Jane and her husband had 4 children ............. all born before 1837

and death certificates then did not give a woman's maiden name

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Mar 2015 16:36

I am having trouble persuading the person I am helping as well. It is all fitting as far as I am concerned, all she needs to do is to buy a marriage certificate to prove it :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Mar 2015 15:49

got a little more confusion when looking to prove that Jane was "mine" ....... or rather belong to OH's family

1861 Census, they have her sister Jane staying with her ................ 3 years younger, born in the correct town, retired grocer ........... but "Jane"?????

She did have a sister Elizabeth, 3 years younger etc, who had worked in her parents grocery shop until they had both died ......................

Can I assume they gave the wrong name?

how on earth does one prove that the people more than 150 years dead gave the wrong name for a visitor?????

Hi Linda!

Indeed it needs standing up!!

I do hope the operator wasn't hurt ......... those little machines are what we call Bobcats, often used as diggers on building sites or farms.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Mar 2015 09:54

Oops, that needs standing up Sylvia

It is good when you solve a little mystery on the tree, I have been playing up at the top of my own main line. My very at the top grandparents had sixteen children and I have managed to trace a couple of the girls this weekend. They tended to have random grandchildren with them on a census, tying them up to a parent is hard. Both the girls I have traced had a son before they married, naughty things

It is pouring with rain here ....................

but the maritimes got another dump of snow.

I talked to my daughter around lunch time ................... her husband was out clearing the snow from their pathway, drive and steps. She said he was running out of places to put it! She figured they had had around 2-3' over last night and this morning.

More snow is expected overnight

The snow banks by the road sides, thrown up by the snow ploughs are now solid ice banks ................. it has not been warm enough for them to melt away.

Have a look at what happens when a small snow plough (mainly used to clear sidewalks) meets an iced up snow bank

oh dear ...........

I missed the sardines on toast :-)

I've been trying to sort out some of OH's lot ................ I have a Jane born and baptised in 1803, and then nothing. She's the child of the second marriage of OH's untold x gr grandfather, so only a little side issue.

However, I was poking around on ancestry last night, and saw that someone had her marrying in 1827 ................. in the same church in Lancashire and to a man with the same surname as the woman that her step-brother married. And the step-brother and wife are OH's direct ancestors.

Fast forward to the 1851 census .................. and there is a Jane married to that man, living in that place, but born ca 1804 in the Yorkshire town where my Jane was married. <<<< OOPS .... meant where my Jane was born!

The marriage is on lancs opc ................ but unfortunately no father mentioned :-)

I've got more digging to do, as I never trust ancestry trees ........ but I think I have found her :-)
