My kettle has several buttons on its stand 80degrees for Green tea, 85 degrees for white tea, 90 degrees for oolong, 95 degrees for coffee and 100 degrees for boil and black tea and then there is a smaller keep warm button plus a start and cancel button. I may have to go to classes as one did when the Microwave ovens first came out.

There are some that say something like mind this car is backing and if the driver is really slow at backing out of a car park it drones on and on.. and then there is the one where if you are within a foot away from the car it tells you to stay away from the car.

Yesterday himself had gone up to Auckland in the truck and had stopped at one of the eating places on the way for coffee. He said to me when he went to leave he was blocked. Then a chap arrived and went to move his vehicle from a parking space well behind himself. OH went up to the car and tapped on the window. Yeah mate said the chap.. OH said I am glad you are leaving... people have been stopping behind my truck and taking photos of your car and I could not get out. This guy had a very low slung (only just off the ground) left hand drive bright orange Chevvy station wagon. One Maori chap drove up the middle and took photos and then came back down and took some more.. The car owner was quite chuffed.

Hello tec and Persie

My car is constantly beeping at me as well Tec

Your kettle sounds silly persie, I don't suppose they sell basic ones any more :-(

Hello Persie,

Some gadgets are far too smart for their own good.

My car irritates me :-|

It beeps at me when

I open the door without switching the lights off

Drive off without fastening seatbelt

Turn the engine off with putting gear into park

One of the doors or tailgate is not properly shut.

It could be worse, it could be a nagging voice that some cars have :-D

Has the sherry been trifled with or is this just an abandoned thread sliding down page 2..

It is a slippery slope indeed when there has been too much sherry in the trifle.

My coffee tastes terrible, this kettle sort of gets to the boil without actually boiling and then it starts up again and goes to the full boil and then beeps. I just made coffee with not really hot water.
Himself asked manufacturer was it just our kettle or did they all do this and the answer was that the kettle stops to check that there is enough water and won't burn itself out.. very thoughtful of it but caught me out this morning. :-S

wiiting for our friend to arrive ............. the ferry should have docked about 2:45 pm ................... it is now about 3:30 pm, so she should be here any time.

It all depends on the traffic between here and the ferry terminal .................... it can take as short as 20 minutes to drive it :-)

OH says he'll make another trifle for us next week ............... if past years are any example ................ there will be two licked clean bowls tomorrow night!

I'll try to send you some of ours :-)

We just recycle the colds Persie. I suppose if we stayed away from them, we wouldn't catch them, but we want to be with them as often as possible

Eve is lovely - such a nice thought :-)

It is quite common for schools to have a Grandparents' Day here. So many grandparents are involved with the children and it's such a nice way of saying we're appreciated.

Persephone

Persephone Report 19 Mar 2015 22:01

Your family and colds Linda, seem to be on some sort of recycling system. I do hope with the advent of your summer coming up that you all end up with a clean bill of health and don't repeat this next winter.

My youngest had grandparent's day at the Jewish school. The first time the principal was Anglican and there was no requirement for visitors to wear a kippah, however when the new principal arrived from Sth Africa and was Jewish all that changed. I was a bit concerned that my father might sling off or tell them he wasn't going to wear it, but no when I went to collect him afterwards he said to me how do you like my potai (Maori for hat).

That was very sweet of Eve to want to send sick grand dad flowers :-)

Hello Sue,

Hope you have a good time at Drew's school. I think it's a great idea to involve grand parents. They don't encourage that here as far as I know.

SueMaid Report 19 Mar 2015 21:46

Hello :-)

Oh dear Linda - a sick household :-(. Hope you are both feeling better soon.

I hope your leg settles down, Tec.

I love trifle :-D

We are off to Drew's school this morning for Grandparents' Day. We meet his teacher, see his classroom and are then served coffee, tea and cakes. Lovely :-D
