LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Mar 2015 09:30

Well for once I have thew car on a Thursday as OH has a lift to the start of his walk.

I am going to go to the cemetery to replace the artificial flowers on my parents grave. It would have been mums birthday next week, but we will be in London,so i wont be able to visit on the day. She always gets new flowers for her birthday to spruce them up after the winter. I cant take fresh flowers as it is not near enough for me to visit every couple of weeks. i would rather see the nice artificial ones than dead flowers or non at all

I was thinking of taking my brother out for lunch as he lives nearby and doesn't work on a Thursday, but he is taking his caravan away for the weekend for the first time this season. Rather him than me as the weather looks bad this weekend

So what to do instead, I suppose I will just have to do some shopping :-D

We are so far away :-( thank goodness you can keep us up to date Linda <3

I must have missed something along the way - is this Tec bad leg giving him problem or his 'good' leg?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Mar 2015 22:16

I only wish I did live near him, but we couldn't be much further away, we might as well be in Oz as Sue will testify

Persephone Report 25 Mar 2015 22:12

I know you do..

He is one person I wish I lived closer to so I could ensure he got the help etc required.

Must go and try and do a few things around here, it is supposed to rain yesterday and today and it still hasn't happened.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Mar 2015 22:04

I have been so worried about him, he doesn't say much on here, but I do phone him regularly so I find out what is going on. I nag him mercilessly :-D

Persephone Report 25 Mar 2015 21:59

I have seen them do this on TV, Though in Tec's case his brain will probably send signals to his arm to wipe the bench and his leg will try to do it.

I am so pleased that they are going to sort this out... Brilliant.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Mar 2015 21:53

Good news from Tec, he has been admitted and has ad lots of tests done. he finally got a bed at 8pm. The surgeon is going to take arteries from his arm and put them into his leg. He has lots more tests lined up for tomorrow

Auctions seem to be the way to go in Auckland.

No boxes of any sort have arrived to help us out with anything... and Huntly has the worst TV reception.. it's like a third world country down here.

Hello Sue,

Maybe I should stop banging my head on the wall Persie, then I wouldn't have a headache

SueMaid Report 25 Mar 2015 21:34

Hello :-). A nice sunny day here.

House auctions are usually on site here. It's becoming the way to sell a house if it doesn't go quickly or its in a very popular area. My mother's house went to the first people who saw it so there was thankfully no need for her to go through the stress of an auction.

We have a new internet system going through provided by the government but serviced by our ISP. Our street is ready to be switched on. There was a box fitted to our house yesterday so it won't be long. All houses have the box fitted whether they are on the Internet or not.

Persephone

Persephone Report 25 Mar 2015 20:58

Our house was auctioned on the site.. a lot do that, and we have been to a few to see how well they were run etc.. and this is the second time I have been to a real estate agent's auction rooms.

I don't like Guinness

An hour seems an awful long time to be spent banging your head.. do you feel any improvement from such untoward treatment?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Mar 2015 20:49

Hello Persie

I am back all safe and sound. I have just changed my ISP and as part of the package we have a TV service called Youview. It is just a way of receiving a zillion channels you don't want to watch, plus a catch up service for shows you have missed

we had to install the new box, but as my router is in a different room, I had to buy two things which plug into the wall sockets to send the signal from the router through the electric circuit to the Youview box. I had to move the router because a yellow ethernet cable has to go from the wall to the router. The cable wasn't long enough, but in moving the router I lost internet connection. After banging my head on the wall for an hour, I gave up. Oddly the internet came back after i took a phone call. Anyway the new system is now up and running, all I need to do now is to work out how to use it

I have never been to a house auction before. They aren't very common here, they are usually only used for houses which are hard to sell

If you were in an Irish pub, you should have been drinking Guinness

Just reporting in..

OH's toothache was not that bad he just wanted a prescription which would really cost him going to the clinic so on the way I suggested starting with the hospital as that is free. The hospital gave him a voucher for the clinic so no charge.. The only worry was my lunch was delayed till after 3pm so we went to an Irish bar and I had a lovely meal of peppered calamari and a Caesar salad which was yummeeeee.. washed down with an Emmerson's lager (a good old Dunedin brew)

Yesterday we went to one of the house auction rooms in Hamilton. We wanted to see how much this house with an extra dwelling would go for in Cambridge.. it was the second on the list. The room was fairly full and there were 13 or 14 houses to be auctioned off. After the Cambridge one was sold about half of the people in the room left (including us) so not a lot left for the other 10 or 11 houses.

Strange auctioneer, during one lull with the first auction he told two people to stop talking (they were whispering and it could have been about the purchase).... he also added a for goodness sake.
I said to OH, our Evan could do that job.. when he was about two or three and we were playing I spy with the girls and him (during babysitting) OH and I were laughing and talking about something that happened.. and he said in a stern voice stop talking.. :-)

He has also booked himself in to a new dentist in Cambridge .. so we will be down there on Monday..
