The red tape procedure is so stupid.

Patient Confidentiality... I am sure that the Duchess would want you to be part of the confidentiality. Are you not listed as next of kin on the forms when she was admitted. Here once you state who the next of kin is that person will be told what is going on, they become part of the confidentiality agreement.

A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. (as per the net)

As for your NHS computers Linda, how daft, everyone knows that we have a time change twice a year, my computer knows as do most peoples, you would expect the hospital to be on top of something like that. I think even GR gets it right.

Thank you for the update about our little Esme..

OH has to stay in tomorrow as the new dishwasher they had ordered is finally being delivered. It was due on Friday but they couldn't find it in the warehouse. So I am taking Eve to the cinema, we are going to see the new Cinderella film

Tecwyn Report 30 Mar 2015 21:38

That really doesn't surprise me at all Linda. Sadly, such events are expected now

Such things are not the fault of the nursing staff, who in the main, work very hard - despite the system.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Mar 2015 21:27

Nothing surprises me about our NHS anymore

All the computers which record the drugs on the ward crashed yesterday morning all because the clocks moved forwards. This is a new state of the art computer system brought in six months ago, it seems no one thought about the time change

Hello Sylvia,
Hello Linda,

I will get some information tomorrow somehow. I should have asked to speak to someone in authority.
Was talking to the ward clerk, and the rules are the rules, regardless of circumstance.
Surely if her condition worsens, then they would contact me - how silly. :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Mar 2015 20:57

I have sent updates to everyone, except to you Tec, as you got a verbal one of course

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Mar 2015 20:56

It is disgraceful that they won't tell you anything as you are next of kin. I wonder if her GP vouched for you, then they would talk to you. Hopefully your daughter can sort something out tomorrow

SylviaInCanada Report 30 Mar 2015 20:10

oh lord, Tec

what a mess ................ and what so-and-sos you have at the hospital!

I can't post what I would really like to call them :-)

I was glad to read that you had succeeded in getting a good sleep <3 <3

Just a thought ............ do you think your nurse would be able and willing to see if she can get information about the Duchess for you??? She knows the situation you are in, and maybe could persuade those idiots to tell you over the phone

Tecwyn Report 30 Mar 2015 18:52

Well, it just gets better.

Notified by the nursing home that the Duchess was admitted to hospital last night.
She is in the Acute Cardiac ward in Wrexham.
I phoned today, and all they would say is that she had a comfortable night. They wouldn't give me anymore information on the grounds of "Patient Confidentiality"

Don't mind me, I'm just her husband.

Apparently I have to present myself physically on the ward to be told anything.
Unfortunately that can't be done at the moment. I'm immobile, and in pain. It is a two hour drive to Wrexham.
My daughter who is here looking after me is planning to go to the hospital tomorrow. I am fine to be left for an afternoon.
My SIL has gone home now, but he may be able to visit as well.

I slept last night for the first time in ages. I increased the morphine, and the morphine based liquid Oramorph.
Went to sleep in my armchair downstairs at around midnight, and woke up at eight o'clock when I heard my daughter in the kitchen - it was wonderful.

Thinking of little Esme, and hoping things improve soon.

Persie - What on earth is a periodontist?

The weather is foul here today. Heavy rain and gale force wind screaming in off the sea.

Just popping on to say I won't be around in the morning as I have some interviews to do.

Hope you managed to get some sleep Tec and that little Esme is improving.

We are back.. and himself has to go to the periodontist in Hamilton.

The dentist said she did not know whether they would treat it, do a root canal under the crown or do a tooth extraction.

OH told me that he could then have an implant at a horrendous cost. I told him he could live with the gap, it is at the back. Anyway we will see what is going to happen first before deciding.

And I bought a new pair of trews while he was at the dentist.. and the woman said to me less 25 % that will be such and such.. I did not even notice that they had Easter specials 25% off signs in the window or around the store, I was so intent at looking quickly and trying on because I had spent ages in a little people's boutique next door. :-)

I remember once in Florida stepping in and out of an afternoon thunderstorm. There was a clear line across the car park , the rain was absolutely vertical

Persephone

Persephone Report 29 Mar 2015 21:50

Of course Linda... but it was very diffa....dife...difficu..... hard. The crayons were dumb ones, the council could have provided better ones, will take my own next time.

Himself is going to try out our "new" dentist in Cambridge today.. and the weather looks like it could be deplorable.

The other day when we went up north, as we drove along the skies got greyer and then black and the rain hosed down, then we went through a big patch of bright sun (needed the sunnies on) and then another bout of rain, then sun, then rain and then when we got to our destination it had all cleared up. I asked a chap in Huntly if it had rained that day and he said no it has been lovely and sunny all day.
