My best wishes for a speedy recovery to both Tec and Esme. Thinking of you both, and your families and friends. <3

Thank you Sylvia, I saw that, that was yesterday. Tec passed her phone number onto me so I can keep in touch with her. When he does go to Shewsbury, there is no wifi so we keep in touch by text

All is quiet here. We took Esme to the hospital this morning for her blood test and antibiotics. They couldn't get a vein, so they pricked her heel to get the blood out. They needed quite a lot and it was awful to hear her screaming.

After the hospital I took Eve to the cinema again, that is twice in one week, she is a lucky girl. Esme was playing quite happily lying on a wedge cushion on the floor when we got back. She was trying to stand up when she was on her mums knee but she has the canular in her foot so she wasn't allowed to she still sounds very chesty, but it isn't crackling and she isn't having the whooping sessions in the night which is an improvement

Brenda posted this on the Welsh thread, I hope she will not mind my c&p'ing it over to here .....................

Brenda from Wales Report 4 Apr 2015 11:36

Hello everyone ...

Well ,the sun is shining,I can see blue sky and contrails today, which is such a contrast from yesterday..so it does make things seem a lot better!

Thought I would let you know that I had quite a lengthy conversation with Tec yesterday...we talked about places we both knew and all sorts of general things.

I had wondered if he would be up to having a call as he was in so much pain, but he said it relaxed him more than the morphine...so that was good.
His daughter and s.i.l were decorating a bedroom for him.
He said it was a bit of effort to sit ar his laptop and type, but was easy for him to talk as it helped stop the boredom.

I don't think he'd mind me telling you this as he knows you all are concerned and he is such a considerate person, thinking more about others,,particularly little Esme who has been poorly .
I will try to pop in more on this thread and hope you all have a nice Easter weekend whatever you do...
For Tec,Tuesday can't come quick enough.so let's all hope that they can control his pain a bit better till he has his op on Friday.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Apr 2015 15:53

I spoke to Tec this morning, he was waiting for the nurse to come. He thought she would want him back in hospital because his ulcer was so bad. He was going to agree because his daughter and son in law had been called called to the hospital last night because the Duchess is very ill. They sat with her all night, they called him at seven this morning to say she was more stable.

I don't know if he has gone in, or is still at home

It is a bad time and I am sure we are all thinking of him

Hi everyone

Linda ........... so pleased to hear that Esme is home. I hope she continues to improve xxxx

I'm thinking of Tec, and hoping Tuesday comes quickly <3 <3

a very strange day here, weather-wise ............ clouds, sun, pouring rain, warm then cold

we had hot cross buns for breakfast, and went for coffee this afternoon ......

..... the coffee place used to close on Stat holidays, but they are surrounded by apartment buildings for several blocks around, and they discovered a couple of years ago that it is worth opening on shorter hours. There is a continuous stream of people coming in, even if the offices in the area are closed.

Hello :-)

I'm so pleased Esme is home - I hope she continues to improve. I take it you will stay over Easter?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Apr 2015 20:52

Esme came home this afternoon, although she is still far from recovered. They have to take her to the local hospital tomorrow to have more blood tests and for the intravenous antibiotics. After that the hospital outreach team are coming to the house everyday to do them

Everyone in the household has gone to bed except for me :-D

Another day, another princess game :-D

I spoke to Tec yesterday, he is just about hanging in until Tuesday when he will go back into hospital, I don't think it can come quick enough for him

Just popped in to say

Well done Amanda on the baby sitting of the twins..

Well done Drew, but later one when you are older you might just be donning an Easter bonnet for a bit of a lark with your mates.

I had heard a couple of reviews of this version of Cinderella both favourable but saying how different it was.

And to Tec only 8 more sleeps till you get fixed up.. in the meantime take all the rest you can get.

And a very big well done to Esme, am so glad things are on the up for her Linda.. and am also pleased that Eve has shown her skills in the kitchen, could do with her around here, took me ages to getting around to doing the dishes last night... I will be so glad when I have a dishwasher again.

Now to hang out the clothes, I like doing that on a nice sunny day. I think we are having a bit of an Indian Summer here.

Hi

Linda .............. that sounds like very good news xxxx

even better that they have been able to take her off the morphine cold turkey.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Apr 2015 20:11

I am played out. We haven't been out,so have been playing princesses all day part from when we played cleaning the kitchen, she used a phenomenol amount of kitchen spray
My daughter came home this evening, daddy is sleeping in the hospital. That means Eve is having a sleepover in mummies bed, so I get a night off :-)

Esme is much better today, they have taken her off the morphine cold turkey, but she seems OK so far. She may come home because they are trying to empty the hospital for Easter. She needs intravenous antibiotics once a day for the next week, they said the cannula would be left in and her parents would take her to the local hospital every day. She has direct 24 hour access to the children's ward there in any case,. Even better as she is so,well known to the community team, the nurses are going to come to the house to do it. So we will see what tomorrow brings

Hello and bye Sylvia and Amanda :-)

It's good to hear that Esme is on the up. Still a way to go by the sounds of it but on the way.

We have Easter bonnet parades today. I think Drew is thinking he's too old now. He said he doesn't want to wear a silly hat :-( They grow up so quickly.

Hello Linda , the news of Esme is most heartening :-) I hope she keeps gaining ground at the rate she is , it is heart warming to know she has been smiling at her sister and showing interest in a toy . Hopefully they will be able to reduce the morphine a little at a time .
I hope your daughter can get some reasonable rest , hospitals are never an easy place to sleep :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Apr 2015 21:46

You are very brave Amanda to babysit both of them

Esme has been moved onto another ward which means she is in a single room. That is much better for her mum as she should be able to get a bit more sleep. It is ensuite as well and has a fridge in it.

The fridge is good because Esmes food can be kept in it. They had to sign some sort of disclaimer before they were allowed to bring their homemade food in. It Is hardly that she is a fussy eater the hospital are simply unable to provide the type of specialist food my daughter makes.

We took Eve in to see her, she was a bit unhappy when we first arrived because they had reduced her morphine and she was in pain. They bumped it up again and she was much happier. In fact she was awake and laughing at Eve, she even started playing with a toy. She still has the most dreadful chesty cough though, they haven't identified that but they have isolated the bacteria in her blood which was also causing the other problems. She has to have intravenous antibiotics for the next week for that

The biggest problem is to get her weaned off the morphine, but she is. Is so much pain without it, poor little thing.

I hope the Duchess is better today Te c and that you are coping of course
