I just spoke to Tec, he is ready for the off in the morning, he may pop in later on to say goodbye.

I am keeping. Everything crossed that it will all go ahead tomorrow, with our system you never can tell.

He is going to be out of it for a few days so he is going to ask his daughter to let me know how he is until he is well enough to do it himself. As they are using both arms, that may be a while.

SueMaid Report 8 Apr 2015 22:50

The whole business is ridiculous - Tec should be in hospital where he can be kept as pain free as possible :-(

Good to hear he was feeling better this morning, he was going to up the morphine last night, but he is only allowed to put it up a bit at a time

Brenda from Wales Report 8 Apr 2015 15:46

Have just spoken to Tec.he was pleased that I called as he was bored just sitting in his chair...still in pain...the nurse came this morning to give him his injection to stop blood clots

He was annoyed that the theatre hadnt been booked and that he has to be there at 7.30 on Friday.....that means he will have to set off before 5.30am.
This has been a real set back, especially when you prepare yourself in advance

The duchess is improving,so that's a bit better.
His daughter had to bring him back and look after him instead of going home ,which was the plan as she hadn't seen her mother and he was concerned about that.
We did have a nice chat, and it relieved the monotony a bit.

Hope everyone is Ok. And thought you'd like to hear this news

-----------

why oh why could they not have kept him in????????

Safe journey to you Persie , funerals are always sad , even if the person did reach a good age (( hug )) to you .
I had not heard of Sylvian Epilepsy before , it sounds incrediably alarming ! I'm glad your daughter soon grew out of it !

I'm off now as well , so have a good day all you up-side-down folks x

Have to go to a funeral today so off to get ready.. it's up in Auckland... He did well turned 90 in January. One of my mother's first cousins, so now we are down to two left... one turned 90 last month.. lives in Arizona and the youngest one should be around for a while.

Persephone Report 7 Apr 2015 22:32

That's a bu**** for your daughter Amanda, I am not too fussed on steroids but they seem to do the trick in quite a few situations. Good thing it got sussed out straight away..

... we thought our eldest when she was little had had a stroke because her speech was slurred and her left arm and leg were not behaving correctly. The ambulance men thought she had just been sleeping and had pins and needles because by the time they got to us her speech was back and her arm was okay.. I knew that was not the case and got her to walk and she dragged her left foot. We were up at the hospital till about 3am running tests on her.. they had her hopping backwards and all sorts of silly things and then said they would keep her in the hospital, to which our little blighter said oh goodie and was ever so pleased. The two doctors looked at us like we were bad parents. I had to explain that her younger sister had had three days in hospital when she was in another hospital in the plastic surgery unit and the older one was a bit jealous of all the fun the younger one had at playgroup there. Turns out our eldest had Sylvian Epilepsy.. she had thrown up on arrival at hospital and had a bad headache.

She had another episode about eight months later and then was okay... but has had a couple of reoccurring episodes as an adult..

I'm appalled that they sent Tec home again

it's disgraceful.

But I'm also afraid that similar things have happened here ................ it seems to be curse of hospitals all around the world.

Linda , it sounds as if you need a jolly good sleep , nothing is better than ones own bed . Sweet dreams to you . The news of Esme is wonderful :-) it sounds as if she is well and truly on the mend <3

Hello Persie , the situation in our hospitals here is dire to say the least . Our beloved NHS is on it's knees and getting worse by the day it seems . I hope the winds of change soon blown our current Government out and bring in one that has the NHS at it's heart .
I'm pleased your daughter got her voice heard before her condition got any worse ! My Dad ( many years ago ) had a burst appendix , luckily our family DR spotted the situation just in time , it can be a very difficult condition to diagnose in some cases .

My eldest daughter has been unwell , she has Bells Palsy :-0 the right side of her face had seized up , mouth , nostril and eye all affected , thankfully her Dr got her straight on steroids and it has helped a great deal , she is just beginning to get a small amount of movement back in her mouth . Hopefully she won't get any lasting paralisis (sp ) from it .

That is atrocious that they sent the poor man home again. For goodness sake, it is a hospital and is supposed to care for people in pain etc.. and he would be monitored in hospital.

It worries me when they sometimes send people home here, my daughter had been sent home as they said they could not find anything and then back she went and that time she said to them look my mother says I have appendicitis.. she said to me later that worked and yes she did and was operated on. Appendicitis is a worry when it comes to diagnosing and if left too late and bursts well that's rather disastrous. I came close when I was a youngster so was miss know it all.

Good to hear Esme is improving, and things can only get better. Awful for poor Eve re the nightmare situation. Hope you all enjoy the animal farm.. and you get to pat and touch and pick up lots of animals.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2015 21:45

Hello Amanda

I hope Eve sleeps as well :-) Tomorrow we are going to the local animal farm, I cant wait.

Esme is a lot better, her chest doesn't sound as bad, she finished the intravenous antibiotics yesterday, so the y took the cannula out of her foot yesterday which was better

she had more blood tests today to she if she has a compromised immune system. If not the blood infection may have been introduced as a hospital infection when she had some blood tests just before she fell
The ulcers are starting to heal, the horrible black dead tissue has fallen off and it looks healthy underneath. She has a huge hole where the largest one is.

The biggest problem is that she has no nappy on to help the healing, she is just laying on a pad which has to be changed every time she wees Also you can imagine the effect the antibiotics are having :-D

I don't know how they are going to cope if she cant go to nursery for a few weeks. I don't want to think about that :-(

I am absolutely shattered,so am going to bed very early

Hello Linda , I'm glad you had a good journey home with Eve , I hope she isn't bothered with nightmares tonight , it is awful when they do that half awake terror thing ( my son used to be affected in the same way when he was about four ) :(
I was glad to see that Esme has been getting a little better each day , long may it continue :-)

It is beyond belief that poor Tec has been sent all the way back home after such an awful day and in such terriable pain but I am not surprised , we hear all the time that the NHS is on it's knees . It certainly brings it home with a hard punch when people one cares about are affected .
I hope he can draw some comfort from the fact the consultant has at least got the ball rolling , so to speak .

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2015 20:39

My journey back with four year old Eve went well. We got back mid afternoon and played in the garden. She has been no bother and went to sleep straight away. I hope she doesn't wake up, she woke three times last night including one of her bad dreams, which is the night terror type when she is not actually awake

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2015 20:34

I can't believe our NHS

I have spoken to Tec, he is still at home

He did the two hour journey this morning in the back of his daughters car and was in dreadful pain. He saw the consultant, who after examining him, rang to cancel the operations for two other people on Friday because he was more urgent and he needs a five hour block of time This bemused him because he thought he was a;ready booked in for an op on Friday.

He then spent the rest of the day going round the hospital for all the pre op checks, then he was sent home. A nurse is coming in to give him clot busting injections and he has to be back at the hospital for 7.30 on Friday so he can have the op on that day

I cant believe that they sent him home, they can't have any beds It is also mad that he has to be there so early when he has such a long journey before hand

He sounded incredibly tired after such a dreadful day

I kept seeing the sign advertising it on the way back from Te Rapa etc, just before we enter into Huntly. Was glad to check it out.

We did Driving Creek Railway a long time ago, the carriages have been upgraded and the Mountain Top Terminus was just starting to be built.. we really should toddle off there again for another trip.
Ended up buying a few books from there as well.
