Oh dear...that is such bad news...poor Tec.
I have never met him,but spoken a few times and he is such a nice fellow.
The whole situation is bad for his daughter and s.i.l as well having two parents so poorly.
We can only send our thoughts and prayers to them..

I don't know what to say - this news has brought me to tears :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Apr 2015 11:29

I have heard from Tecs daughter and it is not good news.

His operation did take place on Friday, but it didn't work, so they are operating on Monday to remove the leg.

She said that he is very poorly and in a fragile state coming to terms with the situation.

She is passing on all our love to him and will keep me informed until he is well enough to contact me, which will be a while judging by last time

It is very sad news, I don't know what else to say really

Sorry I keep missing you all. As daylight saving has finished here there is now 9 hours difference. Once I get up and moving everyone except Persie and Sylvia are in bed :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Apr 2015 20:31

And just what type of games are you suggesting Persie :-D

I cant imagine having all those little ones arriving at the same time Amanda, althogh I suppose they will play together. when there is only one of them, they want your undivided attention.

After a lovely few days weather wise, it came as a bit of a shock to find it was so chilly when we walked into the market square this morning

I have no news on Tec yet. I wouldn't expect to hear from him yet, he will text me once his arms are well enough to use his mobile. I sent an email to his daughter passing on all our good wishes. When she replies, I will let everyone know, Obviously it would be insensitive to ring either of them until they are ready to get in touch, so I will just wait until they contact me

Persephone Report 11 Apr 2015 00:30

Somehow I can never imagine Mandy's house being quiet, there seems to be always something going on.. not like us two stuck out in the sticks and hardly seeing another soul some days.

Pleased that Esme is coming along well and that you managed to get yourself parked on the train okay Linda. You and your OH will have to play your own games now until you see Eve again.

I was thinking of Tec during the night last night. Hope all has gone well for him.

My husband said to me "you are really a star with your family" after we had been to the funeral. You would think I had travelled across the world to be there rather than about a two hour journey. It is the first time I had ever seen the full deal of 'The Last Post". Often you just have the bugle music but there were returned service men there with all their medals, it was very moving. My mother also got a mention in the service as she lived with her cousins for quite some time.

Hello Linda , it was good of your OH to get all Eves toys tidied away before your return . Children do have a way of bringing a home to life ( a little to much in my case ..... lol ) .
It is lovely to imagine Esme laughing when she sees her big sister leaping around :-) they sound like quite a team .

I feel fairly confidant that my daughter will recover completely from the Bells Palsy , it's a good job she reacted swiftly to it and got to the Drs as soon as it began .

Hello Elizabeth :-) I hope you have a pleasant weekend as well . I'm hoping for some peace and quite but never sure if I will get it or not . Six of the Grandchildren converged at the same time today , plus the twins where here anyway as they live at our house , so , three babies , 3 three year olds , a six year old and one nine year old . It was mayhem
:-0 lol

A friend had Bells Palsy, it took a while but eventually she was back to normal and you couldn't tell.

OH had tidied all Eves toys away by the time I got back, it is very quiet without her
Esme was pleased to see her, she laughs out loud when Eve jumps around. It is good that Eve was happy here and didn't fret for her parents at all. We didn't visit any of the places I had intended as she just wanted to play in the garden all day. Not on her own of course, we ha to join in all her little games. She really loved the hundred percent one to one attention which she got. At home Esme needs so much looking after, that she doesn't get that much attention

Glad to know you are home safe and sound Linda . I hope you can get yourself some rest for the next few days ! It is a relief to know that Esme is continuing to improve , bless her little heart , she has been through to much these past few weeks <3
My daughter ( with the Bells Palsy ) is greatly improved :-) her smile and eye are still both a bit wonky but at least there is progress and she said today that it is getting a little better each day .

I hope that Tec got on okay today , perhaps we will hear news of him tomorrow ?

I am back home now.

Esme is coming on slowly, still not wearing nappies and with two large ulcers, but they are slowly healing

I hope everyone else is OK, I am sorry that I haven't had time to reply properly.

I hope your daughter is better Amanda

glad you managed to get a seat. I would think that you should be able to reserve a seat. That's mean of the company!!!

Eve will have enjoyed her visit with you.

How is Esme doing?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Apr 2015 19:46

I am on the train on the way home, thankfully I have managed to get a seat. It wouldn't let me reserve a seat when I booked. This company's website is hopeless.

The journey down with Eve went fine, it is going to be very quiet at home without her

I haven't had any news of Tec yet

Long day for you Linda

Hope you have safe travels xxxx

I've had 1 nasty person on here, 2 years ago, she made life very difficult for several of us, and was eventually banned .......

...... but there were some bad times on Friends Reunited Connections in its latter days before being sold to BS and then closed down, ie between about 2007 and 2009 ......... mainly because subscriptions were removed when FR set it up, and it is so very easy when no-one has to pay to join.

We discovered that some members were taking out multiple memberships, so you had a "nice" persona and 1 or more "nasties". Once you had sussed that out, it could be quite funny to watch "nice" interacting with "nasty" persona :-D

Most of it was done out on the open boards as well, just as it was on the Expats .......... which also does not have a subscription.

Ah well, lesson learned :-D

thinking of Tec today xxxx <3 <3 <3

Some sites are horrible Sylvia, I am sorry you were made the brunt of it. I don't venture out much. I have only ever had one horrible email on here in all the years I have been a member, I have made some lovely friends in that time

I am just about to embark on my journey taking Eve back, I am returning on the evening train,so it will be late before I get back

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Apr 2015 05:16

I've just had quite a horrid experience on a site called British Expats ...............

I joined it last year, gave up after a time 'cos it seemed that it was full of Brits wanting to know the best and easiest way of emigrating from the UK to any other country, OR Brits who had emigrated but now very dissatisfied and wanting to know how long they had to serve in purgatory before they could get citizenship in the country, and head straight back to the UK :-S

I looked mainly at the Canadian forums, but the Aussie ones were very similar.

I tried it again a few days ago .......... still the same, but this time it also seemed to be "get sylvia week".

As close to bullying as I have seen on the internet apart from when some trolls got onto FR. Whatever I posted was in some form or other ridiculed.

I'll remember not to look at the site again!!!

today (Thursday) was big "breaking news day" here ............... all happening between about 5:00 pm Wednesday night and 5:00 pm Thursday

1. oil spill in the Bay. from a freighter, 3,000 litres of bunker oil

2. stabbing of 3 people in downtown and the shooting of the man responsible ... he died in hospital, 2 of his victims are critical. Happened mid-late afternoon

3. man found dead about noon on the grounds of the residence of the president of the university, suspicious ................ but it's NOT the president :-)

4. a sink hole on major highway that appeared just in time for afternoon rush hour above where they are boring a tunnel for a subway

it was just one after the other!

Hello Everyone, :-)

Yes, I am all ready to go again, at some unearthly hour.
This time tomorrow it should all be behind me, and I can't wait to get it over and done with.
I expect it will be a few days before I can contact Linda, but will make sure that my daughter can contact her.
Just wanted to say thank you all so much for your lovely messages of support. I really does make a difference. I am a very lucky man.

The Duchess is improving, and much brighter in herself. They are investigating her shallow and rapid breathing now.
My daughter will visit her on Sunday, while my brother visits me in Shrewsbury.
I am sad that I wasn't able to visit the Duchess, but it couldn't be done.

Thank you everyone - I will be thinking of you all in the coming days,

Take care - much love <3
Tec :-)
