LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Apr 2015 09:41

I had an email from Tecs daughter. She said that he is coming on well but still in a lot of pain. He is top of the waiting list for a bed in the local hospital, she hoped he would go before the weekend

The house is peaceful, they are all out at work, school or nursery. I spent an hour and a half yesterday giving the bathroom a deep clean. I am looking round wondering where to start today _ I decided to have a cup of coffee first

Persie all the roads in and out of the village my sister lives in are single track like that. They are surrounded by high hedges so you can't see anything coming, I hate driving on them in case I meet anything

Reminds me of my eldest when told she would be staying in hospital and she got all excited.. the doctors looked strangely at us as though things at home were not what they should be. Had to explain that her younger sister had had a stay in hospital and enjoyed the playgroup.

I have been all over the place today in some very narrow hilly windy streets of Wellington .. am often amazes to see that some of them have bus stops.. so far whenever I have driven I have only once had to look for an escape space when a bus was coming the other way. Not a lot of places to go sometimes as they all park on one side of the street and then the road is little more than the bus wide. Then we went on one road that wasn't even a bus wide.. was worried something might come the other way but were lucky.

Hello everyone :-D. Nice that you have heard from Tec, Linda. Let's hope he gets to the local hospital soon.

Aiden has a problem with his left leg. The muscles are very tight in that leg and that causes him to walk on tiptoe. Over the years this has led to a problem with his knee. He is now of an age when it can be fixed. He is excited because he is staying in hospital for a couple of days. The recovery is what takes the longest as he will need a lot of physiotherapy and will be in a wheelchair for a short while :-(

Cakes sound good Sue.

What is Aiden having done? Obviously something he wants if he is excited.

My daughter was only working for half a day today, but she hand called in sick as she has picked up Esmes cold. She has a streaming nose, so guess what I will be catching

:-(

:-D. Yes Linda it is funny how we end up doing things like that.

Persie - ANZAC day was only a public holiday on the Saturday. Shops were closed for the morning only although many of the small shops didn't bother opening for the afternoon.

I'm off to the Uni this morning for a presentation and morning tea. Boring but then the morning tea will be good coffee and cakes :-)

My son rang last night to let us know that Aiden has a date for his operation - May 22nd. He is excited bless him.

Unfortunately it seems to be very common for people to walk in front t of trains, the poor drivers must be traumatised.

All is peaceful, I have the house to myself. Eve is at school, Esme at nursery and their parents at work. I have just done lots of tidying up, so I am having coffee. I am then going into town. The idea was to spend sometime on myself but I already have a list of things I can see they need, starting with new white school socks. When I pick Eve up this afternoon, I am going to take her straight into town to buy her some new school shoes. The Velcro fastening finally fell off her old ones, so she has been wearing a pair of old sandals with buckles on which she can't undo. The rule is black and Velcro fastenings for the infants. I will probably end up buying her a pair of pretty summer sandals as well. Isn't it odd that it is grandma who ends up forking out for her shoes

Finally Stellan is asleep and I got to read back.. that's very sad that someone decided to jump in front of the train Linda.

Recently we had a couple of young boys hanging on the back of a suburban train and unfortunately for them they were picked up by someone recording. Stupid to even attempt this sort of thing with all the CCTV or people with smartphones etc.

Last night we watched Britain's roads and the accidents recorded by cyclists, motor cyclists, truckies and car drivers.. seems to pay to have a camera recording what is going on in front of you at all times. Amazingly one chap had caused 98 accidents in insurance scams.. he got caught when three of them were on the same roundabout and people in an office block filmed him.

I am down in Wellington at the moment, we stopped for coffee in Waiouru on the way down and stayed a night at Paraparaumu before heading down to Lyall Bay.

There is a sort of state of confusion, if ANZAC or Waitangi (FEB 6th)fall on a weekend there has never been a day off for office workers etc on the Monday.. If it falls on a weekday then you have got whatever day it is off work. Now they have changed it and if it is a weekend day you get the Monday off, cause all sorts of consternation re holidays in payroll departments and your normal Joe Bloggs understanding of it.. I used to have the same problem with people when I did payroll if Christmas and Boxing day were on the weekend you did get the Mon and Tues off and some people worked maybe three of these days but only two of them can be statutory pay of time and a half.. you can't have more than so many statutory days a year.

Some shops were open on Saturday and some on Mondays.. so yesterday we ended up in a cheap place for a bite to eat in Kilbirnie as the other two coffee places were shut. He had a pie, and he always has problems with the tomato sauce where you squeeze the little package and it pops out, he was on one side of the table and me across from him , he managed to get sauce in my hair on my face and on the wall behind me.. not sure how much actually got on the pie.

Looking forward to Tec's return to the fray..

The trip down was fine but then it took me two hours to get across London. Sadly someone decided to jump in front of a train on one of the lines I needed to use. It was chaos at Waterloo station with all the trains cancelled or running ninety minutes late. I managed to get on one eventually but we were squashed in like sardines and Inhad to stand for most of the time.

Thanks Linda for the update - I hate that Tec is in pain but glad he is able to cope.

Can't stay long. I'm on the school run this morning. Our daughter is in Sydney for two days continuing the course she is undertaking for work.

Just spoke to him, he sounded quite groggy, not his usual self which is to be understood. He still has a lot of pain, but is coping. His arms are still sore from the operation and he still needs help to be able to move from wheelchair to bed etc. He is hoping to move to the local hospital this week, if there is a bed for him
