Berona, I may be nuts but I am not stark staring bonkers!

My rule is: if it is not raining when I wake up then I go walking, even if it starts to rain the second I'm through the door.

If its already raining when I wake, then I turn over and stay in bed...much to the annoyance of my OH who likes to stretch out on the bed in my absence!

Tec, the exchange rate is about a pound sterling = fifty cents so double your prices to convert to dollars

Good Morning Berona,

Your trips sound about as exciting as mine, doctors, chemist, supermarket, etc. We should get together and save a lot of petrol.
In my last job I used to drive over 1,000 miles a week. Can't say that I really miss that, especially in the winter in the ice and snow.

So Allan, At UKrates that would make your petrol over $10 a gallon.......Do you have oil fields in Oz?

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 4 Sep 2009 23:37

Tec, plenty of off-shore oil. In fact us Aussies are very inventive. We have now found a way to transport the crude oil with out vessels....you just let one of the oil platforms leak and the oil floats to the coast on the tide!

Actual cost of Petrol in WA varies, cheapest in Perth, very expensive in the NW. Here, I paid $1.23 per litre, yesterday so getting on for $5.00 per gallon

Tecwyn Report 4 Sep 2009 23:45

That is very inventive Allan, must save the oil comp a fortune in transportation - I bet the sea birds and wild life just love it.

I think our North Sea oil is just about run out.......

Wow, your petrol is half the price of ours - no wonder Berona goes on joy rides......

Tec.

Allan Report 4 Sep 2009 23:57

Tec, Of course they love it..its an extra coat of waterproofing!

I don't know the price of petrol in other States. I think Qld petrol had a six cent subsidy so for a long time was the cheapest State, but with the GFC that subsidy was canned

Sorry everyone if it seemed like I dropped off the face of the earth. My internet connection died - which is like dropping off the face of the earth. For two hours we had no internet...no internet!!!! I'm slightly traumatised:))

Berona, I see Deb in Vancouver is going to pay our fares to London for their meet - if she wins the lottery. I can't wait:) I've already met Maz, Jean Durant and Uggers and very nearly Lynda but would love to meet the others. Actually if Tec wins the lottery and pays for this cruise we're all going on we'll be doing ok for holidays.

The weather today is glorious - in fact as much as I hate to admit it - I did some spring cl***ing:)) I know it's silly but I couldn't help it.

Hi all:))

Tec.. I'm not going horse riding until the September School holidays(18th), so I will let you all know how I go providing I can sit at this computer desk or haven't broken my neck in a fall!!!

Hi Sue... banish the thought of no internet connection, I would not cope at all.
We had a lovely day yesterday for my daughters 16th birthday, a funny thing happened while I was purchasing a birthday card. I accidentally bought her a card for a 15 year old!! my youngest son pointed out my error while I was writing in the card, I just totally collapsed with laughter, Is it just me, or does anybody else do those sort of things?

The weather here today is also sunny although still a little cool, we had a couple of good showers yesterday which was great for the garden:)

Have a great day all:))))

Hello, Persephone and welcome to the thread - where are you writing from? I will try to curb the urge to do h*******k:))

Carole you made me laugh. I bought my 3 y.o. grandson a lovely card for his 3rd birthday. A few days later my daughter showed me the card and asked if I'd had a good look at the front of the card. It said "Happy Birthday to my Great Grandson" - I bought it because I knew he'd like the train on the front and didn't read it properly:)) I'm glad your daughter had a lovely day.

I am from NZ (as I said across the ditch). Have just renewed by Big 4 membership so I can do my next trip across to Oz.
Last year in August I stayed overnight in Taggarty and then went down to Maryville etc and was absolutely horrified when all the fires happened and to think that when we were there it was a cool and damp day in fact the power was off so it was also a dark day. We were absolutely gobsmacked at how ravaging the fires were and it still makes me cry to think of it. Also watched your SPCA program about the little creatures that were rescued, it is absolutely amazing what the SPCA does.

Your grandson is probably a "GREAT" grandson and you just bought it to emphasize the fact as well as the train of course.

Cheers
Persephone

Hi sue..

Great Grandson hey, I don't feel so lonely in my so called blond moments:))
I told my daughter about the card I bought, she shook her head at me and asked if I kept it because she always gives her younger brother girly looking cards every year, just as a joke.
I'm so glad that my children have my quirky sense of humor, at least I know Ive passed on something that will help them in life!!!

Enjoy your baby sitting:))

Well that makes you a down-under person then, Persephone:)) Not that we mind our Pommie friends visiting us - in fact it's a pleasure.

The bush-fires were an absolute tragedy and we can only hope that lessons have been learned. We've travelled in that area and it's a beautiful part of Victoria - indeed of Australia.

Carole your children sound like they're a lot of fun.

I saw where one Pom came in planted her flag and went.

We can't even make our minds up about our flag - just a bunch of ditherers it is the same when it comes to cricket.

I am also a bit of a Tasmania fan having been there a couple of times. My family were worried that we were going to live there when we did it two years in a row.

LOL

Hi Persephone - welcome to the thread.

Hello Sue, Hope you enjoyed your time with the grandchildren.
That's lovely of Deb to offer to pay my fare too. Lynda has offered as well! Hope they don't fight over me! Oh well, maybe they could pay half each. I will be able to return the compliment when Tec and I buy the big cruiser between us - and invite everyone!!! We'll have a ball!!

Good Morning & Good Evening Everyone,

Hi Diane, Hope you've caught up now - you should send the ironing over to me, I actually enjoy it - I believe Allan does too - I find it quite therapeutic, and relaxing, because you can do it and let your mind drift - my mind is adrift most of the time anyway - but you know what I mean.

I waslistening to Dame Edna Everidge being interviewed on the radio today. Apparently she is appearing at the Last Night Of The Proms, from the Royal Albert Hall. She and the occassion hardly go together, but there you go. Dame Edna actually reffered to it as The Last Night Of The Poms, that made me laugh. My OH has never met anyone, male or female from Australia, so I have explained that Dame Edna is not, in my experience, typical of Australian ladies, anymore than Crocodile Dundee is typical of Australian men.
Set me to wondering, do these steriotypes affect peoples thinking when it comes to national identities. Do Australians think of the Prince of Wales, or Tony Blair as typical Englishmen? The mind boggles. Interesting!

My thoughts are also with Linda and her family .

Regards
Tec.

Hi Tec
got all my washing done today after I'd finnished work at 3-30pm, the only ironing i'v done so far is my employer's mum's, which took me 3hrs to do, mine you are quite welcome to as i'v had enough of { Therapeutic } lol
How's the weather in Wales, I thought you said Saturday was going to be better ? I had a nice surprise when I come home from work today, my son { god love him } was in the process of doing the hoovering when I arrived and as soon as I stepped through the door he made me a cup of coffee, I love him to bit's, he can be a pain at time's but when need be he is a life saver.
