Thanks, Sue
I'm afraid I went cradle-snatching. I was 19 when I met my OH who was 15 at the time. (As usual I thought that she was older! I've always had difficulties trying to place an age on girls)
We are off out on Saturday night to a local hostelry to celebrate jointly son's birthday, anniversary and father's day. My daughter's partner's parents and sister will also be there. It should be a good night.
I bet you'll treasure those photos. it's nice to be able to fill in the gaps

Good evening Tec.
With my family history I don't think I will make 50 years! Still I'll give it my best shot.
All these phrases...Cradle snatching, toy boy etc. the only one you can't use on any of the threads on GR is the one usually used in connection with Pubs that have special "over-40's" nights...The Grab-a-Granny nights
lol

GoodMorning Sue,
Can I send you some rain? It has rained for days, and today is unbelievable - torrential all day, even knocked the satllite off tonight so no tv for a while. I must have a look at the river in the morning, it will be in full flood with all the water feeding off the mountain. There was a landslide near here today, closing a main road, which means a 20 mile detour.
That was such valuable information you had sent today - great. Isn't it wonderful when that happens
Tec.

Evening and good morning everyone
SusanWA thank you for your post to me , yes the job can be very rewarding at time's and yes it is also very hard working such a long time before I have time off, I am not the only one who is so dedicated to my type of job, but I have to say I have seen so many cases were the carer's that are in the job shouldn't be. There are a lot of them that work for agency's who are suppose to spend a set time with their client but arrive and leave in as little time as possible. My 92yr old aunt has had many who come in make a meal as quick as they can and leave without even asking if there is anything else she need's doing and many time's I have called in and had to empty her commode and do her dishes which is part of the thing's her carer is there to do. Hi Allan, or should I say { old man } or a very young 61yr old lol, it was my eldest son's birthday on the 31st August he was 35, but I'm not saying how old I was when I had him only I'm not as old as you. Are you doing anything special for your Anniversary.
Hi SueMaid if your back hun Hi to you too Berona hope your both well?

Sue, I was the original Toy Boy, before the phrase was invented - it's good to set a trend.
Allan........I've had three heart attacks - the first aged 36 in Singapore, and two more since - the last one they used the "jump leads" but I'm still here, and refuse to lie down.

I've been lucky lately. Our Linda has been a great help in finding OH's great grandfather. She's a marvellous researcher and she enabled me to go back another generation and solve a real mystery. Using Linda's way of working things out I then found another ancestor and went back a generation with that side. These pesky people who took on their step-father's names:))
Tec, your weather sounds dreadful.

Hi Diane. I too have a 35 y.o. I can't believe it - I'm sure the dates are wrong. I look at my children with their children and I feel very grateful. My parents arrived with little me all those years ago and now they have 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. I dearly hope to see my great grandchildren.

Good evening Diane
My OH and myself do not really celebrate anniversaries or birthdays, although when I was 60 we had a family get together, but guess what? I was sick so couldn't join in!!.
We will go out on Saturday fro a meal with my son and daughter and another couple but that will be a joint do for my son and ourselves. Also, Sunday is father's Day in Australia so we will throw that in as well!
Regards

Allan didn't mean what I said before about you being an old man, sad that you couldn't join in for your 60th, never mind there's alway's your 65th.
Hi Sue yeh I do often wonder were the yrs have gone, I have 9 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, my eldest grandchild is nearly 16yrs and giveing her mum a terrible time but I keep reminding my daughter to think back when she was that age and the hard time she gave me.

Tec, first the whips and now tales of electrical stimulation:))
My dadhad angina for years and had a heart attackwhen he was in his forties. He had a massive heart attack in 1983 which killed him. he was only 68. His mother also suffered from angina but died aged 84.
Funny thing about my dad, he seemed to attract disease, misfortune, dire emergencies. I was forever coming home from school to ask where my dad was; the usual reply, he had to go to hospital and needs an operation.
And my GP wonders why I suffer from white coat hypertension!

Morning/evening all. Your reminiscing made me feel out of it! We were late starters. I was 25 and OH was 30 when we married and, to add to it, nature decided to make it hard to start a family. Took us another four years of waiting, so our original plan of six was reduced to four. A study of economics helped with that decision too! Even then, the four took longer than hoped for. Murphy's law. I suppose if we hadn't wanted any children, we would have had a 'tribe' of them!
Anyway, we had thirty four happy years with no regrets and some wonderful memories. Tec - I think this thread might still be going when we wish you happy 50th! Sue and Allan - it may take longer, but I hope the same for both of you!

Hi Diane, The weather is diabolical - how I yearn to see the sun. It's alright for all these Aussies, hogging all the sunshine. Never mind, Saturday is supposed to be better.
Allan........Your dad seems to have been very unlucky. You appear to know a lot about a side of life I know nothing about, having led such a sheltered life lol.
Sue.....I only have to see your name to get over excited.
Tec.

Good morning Berona
Our original plan was not to get married in 1970 but to wait until 1971. Then my mother decided to visit Australia to see my brother and his family, particularly the then new granddaughter who she had never seen. My brother's eldest boy was born in the UK and so my mum and dad had a couple of years with him until the emigrated.
So we brought the wedding forward so that my mum could be there. Ironically, she came back to the UK in late 1971 and by November 1972 she was dead. She died just 11 days after her 55th birthday.
My father came out to Australia in 1973 and we didn't catch up with him until 1982 when we came out

Oh Tec, What are you saying? Watch out Sue, sound's like someone's falling for you, lol I hope your right Tec about Saturday, forgotten what the sun look's like, haven't seen it since Tuesday the 25th when we were in Castletown in the I.O.M. Allan my dad has had about 3 heart attacks and still with us, he is now 84yrs, also my ex husband had his first heart attack when he was just 22yrs, he was in Cyprus in the army and had to leave because of it he is now 56yrs and still here. I wont say worse luck because we get on now better than we did when we were married { probably because we arn't together } lol

Tec, I'm not speaking from experience, you understand! But I am an avid reader...mainly of the sort of material that can't be mentioned on these threads. lol

Hello Berona, I think you are right about this thread - I can't see it ever ending, and I so hope it doesn't - like having a whole bunch of new friends.
Maybe I will get thrown out for my cheek.
Well folks, it's time for bed again.
So enjoy your day my Aussie friends, and have a good night poms.
Goodnight Tec.
