GirlFromOz,
I was going to say "by the way, Girl" but it sounded abusive and I don't want to sound like that!. Maybe GFO?

Anyway, I've seen a lot about this farming thing. Can you explain it to me? What site is it on, and how do we get to it? I thought it was on Facebook, but I've had a look there and can't see anything - found a few surprises, though!

Good Morning Berona,

Hope you are jumping about like a spring lamb today!

Thank you for telling me how to do that with my tree - I shall try that tomorrow - I should hate to lose all my work now. Thanks again

Tec

Good morning Berona, the only memory stick that I have is trying to remember what I did yesterday!!

Tec, I think that SueMaid would say that we wouldn't need any make-up to go as clowns as we ARE clowns!

And on a serious but (almost) seasonal note, I have a recipe for a traditional type Christmas Pudding which can be cooked in the microwave. We've used it over the years and have even managed to substitute the suet with olive oil. The puddins can be frozen and only need defrosting/warming in the microwave just before consumption.

If anyone wants the recipe I'll be happy to post it, once my OH demonstrates to me for the umpteenth time how to cut and paste!!

Tec, you didn't exactly make my day talking about LP's and 45's! In my youth, we had 78's!! Don't laugh!

I did manage to buy a few LP's (33's) before I gave it away and started buying nappies. However, I may have missed out on my collection in between times - but I do have a good collection of CD's these days!

Hi Berona........

I had some 78s too - and 33s
Now I have lots of CDs

Now I will make you laugh.......I really like listening to Victor Sylvester records...........I find that band so relaxing.
You might as well laugh, everyone else does

Did you know of him in Oz? Surely

Tec.

Berona

Berona Report 21 Aug 2009 23:34

Who's laughing? I had an old 78 of his Exhibition Swing - my kind of music!

Berona.....

Will you dance with me?

Tec.

Thank you - I'd love to!

Isn't it strange?

This chat about old records has just reminded me that apart from the records which came with the gramophone, which in turn came from a jumble sale, the very first record I can remember receiving as a birthday present was Tommy Steele singing "Little White Bull"

We still have a colection of LP's which we listen to, particularly James Last

Hello, Berona:)) Thank goodness you arrived in my absence. I hope you put a stop to these two fellas plans to crash my grandson's party. I knew you'd be trouble Allan once you came on board this morning:)

Diane my grandson turns 5 tomorrow. School next year - oh how time passes:(

Tec we tried to put our tree onto the memory stick from this site but it's impossible. OH says it needs to be on a file off-line so I would say Berona's suggestion is the one to go with. Sorry I couldn't be more help but Berona appears to be our computer whizz.

I can't remember the name of my first record player but it was covered in grey vinyl and it was my prize possession. Around the time we were married we bought a cassette player - we were very with it young people and played it quite loud until the people in the flat next door complained. They were old fogies - must have been all of 30:)) Then of course came the colour TV and early 90's we bought a CD player. Now we also have our MP3 players. My OH is very up on the latest - it's usually me who holds him back from buying the latest sound and sight equipment. He's mentioned the new "blueray" thingo recently and my heart sank:))

OK Berona,

That's what we'll do then......after that dinner date, we'll go dancing

It used to all happen in somewhere called Kings Cross in Sydney once upon a time.......does it still all happen there? or has it gone?

Anyway......now you've made my day! can't wait

Tec.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 21 Aug 2009 23:51

Allan.....My first record was Bill Haley - Rock Around The Clock

Sue......I will give Berona's suggestion a try - sounds simple, like me.

Tec.

Why do I always get the blame????

Technology....I've always gone for the wrong one when two types were battling it out.

I had an eight-track stereo player in my car, and of course cassettes won the day!

When we took of into the wilds of Western Australia we bought a betamax video recorder...wrong choice again

And there is now talk of CD's being replaced.

I love big band music and any music from the 30's and 40's. My era I always feel although I guess it wasn't necessarily the best of times.

My wife has a large collection of big band music from that era - she also has about 50 Frank Sinatra LPs
and lots of the "Rat Pack"

she is also into trad jazz - but I'm not keen on that

I am a huge "Queen" fan, and have all their CDs

Yes, Tec - now, the truth is coming out! Oh yes, it all still happens in Kings Cross!

I went there (still at school) on the first New Year's Eve after the war ended in the Pacific (1945) and we had a great time. There were only the happy drunks to be concerned with - no drugs then. Not so now.

I have only been through it once since then - in a bus-load of wedding guests - after the wedding finished, we returned home via 'the Cross' and the sights we saw just looking at the people walking in the streets - crowds of them - were mind-boggling! It's a different world there.

Don't worry. We'll think of a place to go after the dinner, so that we can dance. Will this be before or after the cruise? I'm just wondering how old I'll be by the time we do all these things. Oh well, something nice to look forward to!

Berona

Berona Report 22 Aug 2009 00:11

Mrs. Tec and I will get along just fine! I like 'ole blue eyes' and Dean too. How about Perry Como, Al Martino and another favourite of mine has been an older one - Al Jolson (after he made his come-back). Al's older records were too high-pitched, but the ones he made in the fifties were the ones I collected.

Allan

Allan Report 22 Aug 2009 00:11

Berona,

Why not on the cruise?

Dancing on the deck on a balmy evening with the stars all a-twinkle: glasses of nicely chilled white wine on the table, the band playing in the background.

Ahh I can picture it now!

Allan
