Goodnight Diane. Sleep well.

I'm off too. Not going to disinfect this morning. Just light the scented candle. Wouldn't bother with that either, but I'm getting a visitor and although I can still smell the bathroom slightly, I fear I may be getting used to it - so no point in taking chances!

I'm back.......and I'm afraid it's not good news. The surgeon thinks I have stomach cancer, about 1/3 of it affected. He thought maybe I would be having radiation and chemo. It's not operable. But, I just have to wait until I see my Oncologist to see where we go from here. Hopefully, he will be coming up from Brisbane this coming week. I don't particularly like travelling down there.

Lucky I'm a bush kid hey? My Mum once told me I was a "real little toughie" when I was a child. Guess I'd better draw on that again.
*flexes muscles*

See ya mates.

Berona Report 6 Nov 2009 05:08

Oh Alison. That's not good news and I'm so disappointed for you. I looked in at this unusual time to see if you were here because I have been wondering how things went for you. I didn't want it to be that kind of news.
Are they quite sure it's inoperable? If so, is there treatment for it?

How far from Brissy are you? Would it be better to go down there and get onto it as soon as possible? Waiting doesn't do you any good.

Don't let it get to you (huh! easy for me to say!). You have a wonderful spirit and I know you will fight it all you can. Come on here and let it all out if it helps - we are all with you in spirit all the time and want to know what's happening. Keep us informed - please!......and stay beautiful!

Hi Berona and Carole,

I'm about 500kms from Brissy. With any luck I'll see the Oncologist this Thursday - although we all know how MY luck runs!!! The surgeon thought that maybe radiation and chemo were the best options, but of course the Oncol would know better.

I was actually thinking about you guys while I was lying in my bed, waiting for my turn at day surgery!

We told the 18 year old son on the way home, called in at his work. He cried. I found that hard to see. Told the little bloke as well. Not sure how he is. I had to cancel his psychologist appt this week as I was seeing doctors myself.

I guess I just have to wait to hear what the specialist says, but I am concerned that he will be giving me a time limit now. I gotta finish these trees!!!

Don't forget anytime you need us we are here for you, always!!!

How are you feeling, after your surgery?

Sending more huge ((((((((hugs))))))))))

Love hugs Carole, thanks!

I feel pretty good at the mo. So good, that I'm going to have to dish up our tea - bacon and onion pasta. Mmmmmmmm.

Catch you all later!

Berona Report 6 Nov 2009 09:05

Alison - I don't know what to say to you. You have such a 'solid' outlook - I really admire you.
I'm so glad you mentioned that you were not alone because I was wondering about that. I don't blame your son, it must have been such a disappointment. I'm disappointed, and I'm not part of your family!

Watch your OH and the boys for any delayed reaction and don't worry about the trees. They know you are interested in them and they will take care of them - but working on them could be good therapy for you.
I do hope that the oncologist can give you more hope than you got to-day. It must be nerve-wracking, waiting for next Thursday.

Thinking of you with fingers and everything else crossed! Take care.

Oh Alison, I am so sorry. I hope that when the oncologist comes,he can sort out a new treatment regime quickly.

Your family must be in shock, but you all sound so close and loving, that I know you will all be supporting each other.

I hope that you keep posting on here and have a laugh with us when you can. If we can help to take away just a few of yours cares for just a short time in your day, we will all be here to do that

Alison, so sorry to hear your bad news. We were hoping for the best.
Don't let them "set a date", they are only doctors you know, not God. Of course you are a bushie and a fighter, and a Queenslander as well.

I live in a capital city so I don't know what it is like having to travel to a major city for treatment, but I have known country people who had to do it because there are no facilities where they live. It must be really hard if you have nowhere to stay, or if your near ones have to find accommodation in the city.

Love to you and I will be thinking of you,
Colin.

Tecwyn Report 6 Nov 2009 12:38

Hi Alison,
To say that I am "disappointed" for you, and your results, doesn't really say it at all, but you will know what I mean. I just hope that whatever course of action they decide on, you will get the very best treatment available.

Your courage, humour, and positive attitude shines through this thread, and I guess your mum was right about you being a little toughie.

I think the term "thread" is very apt, because in communicating with each other this way, we each weave threads of our lives into the lives of each other, like a little family. Like all caring families, in times of trouble, all we can offer is love, warmth, support, and understanding. I hope you will accept all of these things from your friends here, whenever you need it.

Stay brave, tough, and good humoured when you can, most of all - stay beautiful, just the way you are.

Love & hugs to you,
Tec.
