Hi Diane, Yes, I've got all my winter woolies on thanks,

To she who is dripping in diamonds, I am not better, I am remembering that I'm British, being very brave, with a stiff upper lip, in the face of adversity.

Pat,
I haven't heard a single firework yet, but I expect I will later, the village pub always let a lot off at closing time.......I bet the mums with little ones in bed love that.

Tec,
I thought the wet weather would have discouraged people having fireworks but it hasn't!
Some of the bangs are quite loud.

I don't think there will be any bonfires around here, it's been so wet for two days. They don't have one in this village, but they have quite a big one in the next village. I shouldn't think they'll be able to light it tonight though.
Big disappointment for the children.

Oh poor Tec, still poorly.

Come on girls, time to rally round and look after him. Anyone good at lighting fires? Maybe a hot toddy is called for and a nice warm tartan rug around his shoulders.

By lighting fires, I am not looking for a pyromaniac, just someone to get the lounge fire going

Tec,
I heard that honey is meant to be one of the best healers.

Load's of bang's round here even though it is quite wet, hope it doesn't go on to late.
I used to enjoy them but you hear so many storie's of the youth acting daft I don't go out. One story yesterday was that some idiot's were useing Roman candle's fire-work's as flame thrower's at each other and one hit another youth in the back, begger's belief why they do such dangerous thing's.

Pat, I think that he might prefer some alcohol with the honey1

I can do that Linda, used to watch my mum make the fire in the morning's, build it up with coal and paper in between, light it and put shovel in front and a piece of newspaper in front of shovel to encourage it to start and draw up chimney once roaring remove paper and shovel, hey presto roaring fire lovely and warm.

Linda,
I did think of that after I posted. i don't know what's more beneficial whiskey or honey?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 5 Nov 2009 20:17

Oh thank you Linda - I'm quite overcome - but no fuss please, I might get used to it.

Yes Pat, I made a drink earlier of honey and lemon, that went down well. I've got four jars of local honey in the cupboard.

I remember putting the paper across the fire-guard Diane to get the fire going, only half the time the paper would get so hot that it would turn brown and start to smoulder

Actually, I think I might just have a little Southern Comfort, that'll warm me up.
Anyone else, while it's open?

That's a good idea!
I've made myself a cup of coffee. A little drop will do nicely!

That is very kind of you Tec, but no thank you. I hate all spirits except for vodka. That doesn't really have a taste, it just feels warm on the way down. I am drinking red wine though. We only have a bottle between us a couple of nights a week. i have one glass with dinner, then save the other glass to drink while I compute.

PatriciaAnn

PatriciaAnn Report 5 Nov 2009 20:25

Linda,
The only time I've had vodka is when someone spiked my orange juice!

I keep looking out of the window to see the fireworks, but it has started to cloud over. The moon looked huge earlier, but it is covered over now

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 5 Nov 2009 20:26

OK ladies, two Southern Comfort's coming up, one with soda and lemon,
I think Linda would prefer a glass of red wine,

I believe you Pat! I am surprised that you didn't taste it though,it has a sort of peppery taste as it goes down. That is the best way I can describe it
