G'day each and all:)
Carolee The Welsh are overrun with castles, to keep out the English amongst others...lol No offence meant ! That was the reason some of them on the South East were built:) I wave both the Union Jack and the Dragon .:)))
SueMaid I'm keeping to what was close to my natural colour (just a bit lighter) at the mo, but will have to grow old and grey eventually. Thanks about the bright blue ...NOT! A few months ago I saw an ex colleague who had stopped colouring her hair and it was steely grey and looked smashing, she has straight hair, where mine is like Shirley Temple's so don't think it would look so good on me. Must have it cut shorter( shudders at the though) it's only neck length now, but tend to be straighter if even shorter. I remember vividly having tantrums when the hairdresser cut my hair too short when I was a child !! May give it a try tho , the back is still quite dark. but the crown area is quite white not even grey! Have the rest of a good day all:) Sandie.x

Hi Everyone down there and up here -
Well it's mid day Sunday for me -the weather is foul. Gale blowing in off the Irish Sea. Rain coming down in sheets, sideways, off the mountain - poor sheep. Heard the Vicar hanging off his bell at the village church earlier - don't suppose I was missed. Read the Sunday papers - stuff and nonsense.
Carole.......Yes - there are lots of castles in Wales. Some built by the Welsh to keep the English out - others built by the English to keep the Welsh out. They frequently changed hands depending on who won the battle. I had a friend who owned a local farm that was actually an old Cistercian Monastry, built in the 13th Century. The farm was over 1,000 acres, including a mountain. The huge table in the Monks Dining Hall was of such historical interest that it became the property of the Secretary of State for Wales. My friend died two years ago, and the whole lot was left to the National Trust who are in the process of renovating the old monastry.
Well I'm off to find something useful to do.
Bye for now,
Regards Tec.

Sundays aren't for doing something useful, Tec. Rest and relaxation I would think. Enjoy the rest of your day:))

Took your advice Sue.....
After I posted I realised the Hungarian Grande Prix was on - had to watch - congratulations to your boy Mark Webber, came in third, our Lewis Hamilton was first, which makes a change this season. Then we had a visitor - another hour gone, so not worth finding anything useful to do now - I always cook dinner on Sundays, so soon be time to put the joint in the oven......lanb today.
So Berona.........It was you - I have often wondered . Sitting in my garden in 1989 enjoying the peace, suddenly this Quantas jumbo jet circles low overhead. A window opens in the cockpit, a woman sticks her head out........... "G'Day you poms.....I've arrived from down under" "Strewth - stone the flamin crows - call them mountains, we've got bigger molehills back in Oz" Then a stuffed koala bear landed in my lap - thanks Berona!
Yes - but our mountains are greener.......mildew! Hope you enjoyed your ariel view of Wales more than I've seen
Regards Tec.

Hi all
Janet, I hope that the footy went well and that your boy's team won. The rain held off here until 12.30pm and then gradually increased.
Tec, no sympathy with your weather, we have the same problem here. When the gales are on the go rain blows in horizontally from the Indian Ocean. We are also in what has now been named 'hurricane alley': a strip extending from Rockingham in the North to Bunbury in the South. Destuctive winds come in, the damage isn't widespread as with normal cyclones and sometimes the effects may only be four or five houses in width but 100 kms in length. Weird!

Good morning Aussies and good evening Poms:))
What a laugh you are, Tec. I had such a wonderful image of Berona yelling from the plane:))) A roast lamb dinner sounds wonderful.
Allan - how are you this morning? We had a cold wet miserable Sunday but I've got up this morning to sunshine - isn't it always the way?

Hi SueMaid,
Felt well enough to go for my walk, but as far as I usually go. I think today will be pretty much like yesterday: cloud cover early, almost dispersed to a blue sky but then clouded over again at lunchtie and rain set in. Cold as well but we are double armed for that with Reverse cycle A/C and a wood burning fire
Very cosy
regards

Good Morning Aussies, Good evening Brits,
Hi Allan - We have very strange winds here also - the wind screams through a valley that is effectively a wind tunnel, can be quite damaging at times. Yet I can drive ten miles away to a small town, and they have had no wind at all. Today was pretty awful all day, supposed to be summer!
SueMaid - Dinner was very nice thank you - I do so hope Berona won't be offended by my weird imagination.
Regards Tec.

When we drove through Wales,Tec, it was in August and we have photos of us in jackets with the hoods on and bright red noses but the photos from the day before show us in Conwy Castle and Llandudno in the bright sunshine. I'm sure Berona won't be offended - she's a good sport, mate:)
Allan glad you're feeling better. We also have reverse cycle a/c - it's getting a workout this winter.

Hi Tec, Suemaid
Our a/c is also getting a workout this year but unfortunately electricity charges have just increased by about 20% and will be going up by a similar amount over the next couple of years!
Might change to a solar operated one! lol
Save heaps at night

This house takes a lot of heating in the winter. We have gas central heating, but as we are not on mains gas, I have an LPG tank in the garden. Cost around £1,200 per annum - no idea what the exchange rate is, but expensive in any currency. Electric is also very expensive. Neighbour has a solar panel that provides all hot water, but was expensive to install.

It will get more complicated in September as WA has rejected daylight saving time so NSW will be three hours ahead of us

Yes, Tec, that probably was me 'hanging out of the cockpit of a jumbo jet' (???) although I don't remember circling - we seemed to be making a B-line so low and so fast, that I was afraid me might over-shoot England!
As for what I said - you have increased my vocabulary! Oh yes, I know the words - only too well - but my mother wouldn't let me use them! You should have waved - I had a white hankie with me and would have returned the wave.
Allan - been for your walk? After your comment on the other thread, I think you might need to take another walk. Mushroom fun guy, indeed!
Forgive me - I'm rude - forgot to say good morning to all.

Hi Janet, Berona
Janet, Glad the it stayed fine for the footy and ciongrats to your boys on winning
Yep felt up to going for my walk.
Speaking of Mushrooms, the magic variety, the real ones grow not far from here in a town called Balingup.
Every year at the appropriate time hordes of people descend on the Town...as do hordes of Police.

Hi Allan, Thanks for clearing up the time query for me - it does get confusing. I didn't know they had those kind of mushrooms in Australia.
Hi Berona........I would have waved back had I known it was you, and yes, I know that a true lady would not use that language - sometimes my brain goes into "silly mode" as you will come to realise if you read my ramblings. I can't help it, no doubt they will come for me eventually in white coats. I do hope so.
Regards Tec.

Good Morning Janet....Glad to hear the boys did well at footie
I'm hoping it's peaceful there Sue - room with a view - throw all the tablets away and take advantage of the well stocked bar. So long as there's a garden for me to look after, I'll be happy. My daughter keeps telling me she's going to put me in a home - but if it's one of those boring places, she'll have to catch me first.
Well time my head hit the pillow - so have a good day, or a good night.
I think this thread is brilliant Sue - such fun, and nice people.
Goodnight, Tec.
