Sue,
You've no idea what it was like in those days.

That science master would give us a test on the previous lesson. For every mark we got under ten, you got a lash of the cane,
ie 7/10 = 3 lashes, 6/10 = 4 lashes, and so on.

Best days of your life? must be joking!

Tec, I laugh now.

However, I actually enjoyed school. I was never a high achiever and I received my fair share of the slipper, but was never bulleid or anything of that nature, and, yes, we had rebels even back then.

The only thing was it was an all boys school. The year after I left it became a mixed school....the story of my life, always that fraction too late!

Tec, same for us with spelling tests, and the English Master was a Rugby Union Player with great upper body strength!

I actually enjoyed school although I hated sports day. I was never good at any sport - including athletics. I did enjoy English and was quite good in exams but maths and science were definately not my strong point - I barely scraped through.

Must tell you this. I went to the boys grammar school, the girls school was next adjacent, and we shared the hall for assembly etc, different times of course.
The girls had a dancing lesson in the hall twice a week. Prancing about in their vests, and navy blue knichers. Mistress on the piano.
One day, I and another boy were sent to take some books to the principals study, opposite the hall in the foyer.
The principal not being there, we hung about, peeping at the girls doing their dancing.
Suddenly he appeared, and caught us peering like a pair of pervs at the girls.
Our punishment was to present ourselves at the next girls dancing lesson, in our vests and shorts.
We were made to dance with the girls, not as in ballroom dancing, but prancing about like a load of fairies with our hands in the air.

I nearly died of embarrassment........

Tec.

I'm strictly a Soccer person myself - not a League follower - but I am loyal to the local area, so was pleased when Parramatta won last night.

I was having my first attempt at a chat board on Friends Reunited - trying to keep up with the posts - and thinking I'm talking to people in the UK - until one of them informed me of the win. She, too, lives in this area!!
I don't think I will be doing much of that - it is limited to a few words - and you know what I'm like - I write a book!

Tec you should have attended one of my schools everybody learned ballet !

Allan

Allan Report 26 Sep 2009 00:18

Sue, woodwork and metal work were my worst subjects, came bottom of the class in those years I did them. After two years we had to choose between Technical subjects (woodwork ,metalwork, tech drawning) or Commercial (economics nd book-keeping)

To my relief, and possibly more to my Woodwork and Metal work masters relief, I chose the Commercial stream!

Tec - you made me laugh so much. What a memory to have - I bet you still go red with embarrassment just thinking about it.

Berona - stay here where you will be safe. It's scary out there:-))

Uzzi - our friend:-)) How are you?

Must go and get ready to pick my mum up. OH has made sure there is room in the boot for her purchases - and mine:-)

My thoughts are with Linda and Diane - we are all thinking of you.

Tec, I do hope the Duchess continues to feel better.

Carole - go the Saints!!!!

No worries there, Tec. I'm here to stay. I was just browsing. Don't understand the site real well. You have to invite people to be your friend like they do on Facebook. So far, I am very popular. I have ONE friend - my own daughter!

I joined Facebook and have the same friend there too. I keep getting suggestions that I invite all these people who went to school with my children, to be MY friends! What would I have in common with them???
I only joined to have a look at this Farmtown - but don't understand how that works anyway. I was seeing so much of it on the GR boards that I was curious - otherwise, not interested.

'Bye Sue...enjoy your gardening expedition.

Berona, I do use Friends sometimes and have caught up with a couple of guys I went to school with, but now realise how little we have in common.

I suppose that it would be different if we had kept in touch, but now 45 years later......!
