Obviously nothing we say is going to assure Joyce that she has not let anyone down. I guess you just expect too much of yourself Joyce and that is something only you can adjust. Continue to rest, I am sure the feeling something is missing and the tears are all part of you being under the weather and exhausted. You will have a lovely time with your Granddaughter I am sure and we are all thinking of you and wishing you well.
Take care of yourself.
Love

Hi Joyce,

It' was nice seeing your message today! I know that it doesn't feel like it now, but things will get better for you. Just take care of yourself, as we have all said on here, there comes a time, when you have to put yourself first.
You have your granddaughter's visit to look forward to, and the birth of Rachel's baby, so keep resting and looking after yourself, because you will want to be on top form for them all.

Caz, hope it's a bit cooler for you today. Don't you have anyone that can go with you, to help choose your glasses?
My daughter usually comes with me. It's just knowing if they suit you or not, isn't it.

Thinking of you all.

Best wishes,

Sallie.

Oi !! Have I caught you out for the second time today?? We had such a lovely chat then I come and find you were putting on a front. Why didn't you say you felt so bad? I am sure when you tell your grandaughter what you have been doing she will be so proud of you, as we all are. I asked you to do this and you accepted with no quibble. I am so amazed by your drive. Now lets rest xxx

Dutch does sound better doesn't she Mary, it's nice to hear her like that, mind you we always end up laughing anyway.
She never mentioned Rachel last night, too busy tellling me about her phone call with Mary, she was chuffed to bits.
It's overcast here this morning but still hot and muggy.
I need a new prescription Sallie for glasses right eye got worse and left eye is useless anyway. The worst part is choosing glasses, I have trouble telling which look best.

Thanks for tip on rubber gloves Mary, years ago when I had to wear compression sleeve for lymphodema they told us about rubber gloves but I had forgotten.

Hope you are all cooler today, I am expecting Joyce to let me know if anything starts with Rachel so I'll keep you informed.

Had a nice chat with Dutch this am - sounds pretty perky to me!!
If I'd realised about the compression stockings, I would have suggested using rubber gloves to put them on, once over the foot you can slide them up legs with your palms. Worn them for years to lessen leg pain when working on one's feet all day, couldn't manage without the gloves.

Thanks for the updates Caz. Poor Rachel must have been suffering in the heat, being so close to delivering her baby. let's hope things go ok for her and that will put Joyce's mind at rest.

I have been very tired all week, and have hardly been out in the sun at all, only later in the afternoon or evenings, having slept late several days. It's not the heat making me like that as it's not that hot in this house, it is shaded so doesn't get the sun till late afternoon in the lounge, the mornings in here are glorious but then I go to bed of course! Am going to call for an appointment for myself as I can't go on sleeping like this, I am getting so little done and missing so much lovely weather.

Take care and hope you both feel lots better soon. Don't blame you for saying no to a further mri Caz.

Pleased to hear that Joyce sounds as though she's a bit better.
Do you know if she's had any news on Rachel? Hope all goes well for her!

Caz, how did you get on at the opticians? I know how you felt when you said you were glad to get home, out of the heat, I'm like you, I can't stand this hot weather either. The trouble is, the people that love this weather, think that the ones that don't , are just being miserable. But that isn't it, at all.

I hope you'll all feel better soon!

Speak soon,

Sallie.

YorkshireCaz Report 2 Jul 2009 18:49

Just heard from Joyce, she sounds perkier than she did. At the moment in our room it is 32C, too hot to move. Went to opticians this dinner time and was glad to get home, the heat outside is terrible.

I am not suffering from the heat at present. I prefer cold to heat, at least you can put lots of clothes on and jump around (if you are not an idle so and so like me) to keep warm, but hot humid weather.........
Tonight it has started raining again after a long spell off clear frosty nights. There are gusty winds too. And the weather forecast mentioned the possibility of strong tornados up north and mild ones in the Auckland area. Also lightning. Must remember to unplug the computer just in case. Off to bed soon, my OH went an hour ago at 7.45 pm.

Hope that the two of you are feeling much better soon, not that this heat helps at all.

Morning all, Sorry I forgot to mention Rachel last night, but, Joyce did ring when my tea had been put on table, and I had nearly finished when she rang off, it slipped my mind.
It was ok at neurologists Sallie, he said he wondered if another MRI scan would show anything more up, I pursuaded him it wouldn't. We agreed to leave it and see if anything happens, I have had all the tests he can think of but he can't say why I am disabled, apart from the nerve damage in my spine. There are other things though like left hand won't grip and I drop things, he said that part of my spine is above the nerve damage site so something is going on, just doesn't know what.

That's a good idea Huia, I will try that myself and pass it on to Joyce.
We are both suffering in this heat, I felt dizzy and sickly yesterday and have to go to opticians at lunch time, the hottest part of day. Hope Joyce manages better today with it. I hope everyone else is coping with it too, I hate it, can't cope with heat.

Glad you heard from Joyce, Caz and that she is really resting more and staying off the computer. i had a giggle at the thought of her trying to get those stockings on but hope they will help her. Did she say if she had had news of Rachel?

I hope everyone who is unwell at the mo and suffering in the heat, will feel lots better soon, will try and catch up with phone calls next week when o.h. is on late shift, hooray!

I was wondering if it would help to apply talc to the legs or the inside of the stockings to help put them on?

Best wishes to all those who are not well.
