I'm Sharron and I'm a carer.I didn't go on the last carers thread very often and I might not be on here much either but we need another carer's thread so here is one.

Been asked to add the name of the website carersuk.org

Hi Sharron.
So glad to see you have started up the thread again. I was a ‘long distance’ carer for my parents. There are lot of lovely people here who can offer advice, share experiences or just ‘listen’ when you are down. All of us are ordinary people with a mutual concern for the wellbeing of our relatives. Young disabled, Special Needs or Elderly, it doesn’t matter. We, including lurkers, all have something to offer.
Have a good weekend.

Thanks for the new thread Sharron. I just hope it lasts. I have been humbled by some of the things on the old thread. I thought I had things bad until I read how other people have it.
Huia.

Well done Sharron. The old thread was so helpful to those many folk out there who are struggling to care for a loved one. Was the thread from last night deleted by the poster or whooshed by GR?? I mean the one asking where the carer's thread had gone. I sent a message to GR but have not had a reply as yet.

How are things with you Sharron?

Take care all.

I care for my husband with alzheimer's and have been very involved with the introduction of the specialist nurses (Admiral Nurses) in my area.

Yesterday it was decided as we no longer have the funding the service will cease at the end of the year a dreadful blow!!! These nurses are wonderful and are there for the family in much the same way as Macmillan nurses imagine the outcry if Macmillan's were being withdrawn!

So once again dementia is at the bottom of the pile. I am so sad for all the people who will now be without the support they so desperately need.

Thanks for the link Candyman...it could be useful to a lot of people.

Sharron, when you have a moment...would it be an idea to add it to your opening post?

Linda, that's an absolute disgrace and must be devasting for you. Is there anyway you can fight this?

Hi Lorraine, I too am interested in ASD's. My daughter has Asperger's and I know there were other's on the old thread who were undergoing real probs. Hope they see this new thread.

I think the other thread will have gone because Hazel who started it is no longer a member, her subs ran out and she didn't renew.

Have added the name of carers uk to opening post.

I don't add much because I seem to be having a walk in the park compared to some.

On Tuesday I have an inspector coming from the council to see about putting us down a band for council tax. That was something I learned about on the old thread.

Let us hope this one can do somebody some good too!

Thank you for starting this up again. I was the one who asked about it being lost. So many seem to have found relief from their problems through discussing them.
