Morning everyone.... off to play in the garden.... it is beautiful again... I have som lovely cosmos plants I bought yesterday, all bushy and beautifully flowering with loads of buds... £1.00 each... I bought what they had left... 6!! Also bought a hosta, and some nicotiana.... oh and a peony called *Shirley Temple* so I am dying to see that one bloom.... there is only one bud on it, and I shall dig it in after it has flowered cos I don't want to traumatise it too much, lol!!

I would have bought more, but my mother and sister took up too much space in the trolley with their *finds*... how very inconsiderate of them, lol!!

Have a wonderful day everyone.... and hope you have arrived safely back in Glos, Ann

Morning Daff! How lovely that you were let loose in the garden centre and Shirley Temple sounds wonderful....do let us know about her when she blooms:-) My Dad had a rose bush called GI Joe, a dramatic red rose. I am off with the dog soon and will also visit the local market and see what plants they have. The most perfect day here, sun blazing away:-)

Welcome back Ann when she gets here and Happy Saturday to everyone else. BC XX

Lol Taff... no, but I think it is distantly related to the tobacco plant.... but these have the most beautiful scent..... I love them, and normally grow them from seed, but, well, other stuff got in the way this year, lolol

I usually sprinkle some night scented stock seeds in with the taller border plants... they look insignificant, but just wait til dusk, and wow!! One sad thing at the moment is that my sense of smell has been affected by the chemo...

I can't smell subtle but beautiful scents, only overpowering ones!! I hadn't noticed it... it was my sister who pointed it out... I couldn't smell a scented candle in the garden centre a few weeks ago...... she said it was beautiful but subtle... we both had an excellent sense of smell. So we have been experimenting with various pongs, to see what I can and can't smell. I have looked it up, and it is an uncommon side effect of one of the chemo's, and is sometimes permanent, but usually clears in a few months. So fingers crossed!

Hi BC, your dad's rose sounds wonderful... I have a few at the moment, climbers and ramblers, and the miniature ones courtesy of my GR friends, lol....they are doing so well, by the way!!... but look forward to getting some more... I love them!!

*Shirley Temple* is supposed to be white, but with tiny veins of red at the base of the petal... and a big blousy flower she is, too!!

Love

Daff xxxxxx

Edit: Hiya Jac....... All my hanging baskets are empty this year.... but now my new fence is going up, I can see the scope for some new ones, lolol

I have my sunhat, factor 50 and lots of squash cooling in the fridge... we shall plant today and tomorrow, but Monday I have Day Clinic, and Tuesday gynae outpatients!! So I can rest up then We have an excellent system... R digs the hole, I water it and shovel some good muck into it... then plonk in the plant... R firms the soil, I water it in and then add some muck as a dressing... onto next plant!! So I get the best bits R gets the toil ;¬))) xxxxxx

Hello from glorious Gloucester, beginning to flag now after a 5am start but the journey was fine, no delays, just very boring, then the M4 was a bit manic.

The garden urgently needs attention, lovely neighbour has done a great job but the lawn is badly in need of a cut, the allium are horizontal instead of vertical and many plants need containing and tidying. The hanging baskets are thriving so that is good news, as are the tomatoes, the beans and courgettes in containers have failed to thrive but the beetroot, carrots and lettuce look fine. and the hostas, of which there are many are doing very well.

thank you for the welcome Daff and BC.

Just popped in quickly before going to bed... needed to check that our Ann has got back safely... and there you are!! Glad most of your garden is looking good, though... I was getting a bit worried, it has been so hot the last couple of days!!

Jean, that is brilliant news.... give him my love when you visit tomorrow, and you take good care of yourself.

Maz, that is brilliant, too.... you really have worked hard on it!

Well.... off to bed, I am shattered... had visitors until fairly late, so still haven't got the plants dug in... I bought loads!!

Morning all... morning BC and Taff... what a pair of gadabouts you are, lol!!! I would love to go to Dublin, but a) haven't got a passport any more, and b) still need to be commutable to the UHW, just in case, and c) once out of UK travel Insurance is out of reach for me for a while... would cost more than a dozen exotic holidays, lol!!

Hence the garden project!!

It is beautiful here, as well... might even be too hot for me, and my lovely new plants, I bought loads more yesterday... thank goodness there are plenty of shady seating areas. I have watched the sun go around, and every spot we are putting seating gets sun at one stage, lovely shade at another... loads of choice!!

~~~~~~~~ to everyone
Have a wonderful day
A quick hello between the T***o shop (done), the washing (one load done, one in), the ironing the unpacking and the gardening - OH at this moment ploughing through the lawn. Oh and my car wont start so something has to be done there - completely flat battery - now on charge - new battery, 4 weeks with the alarm on obviously too much for it!.
so pleased you had a lovely day Star. did you exchange new wedding rings though? I wouldn't like to part with mine. Maybe you have added extra rings. Lovely idea though and so pleased too that you had good weather. I actually thought it was next weekend.
Star
Star Report 31 May 2009 17:11
Yes we did exchange new rings my oh was mis-shapen and too small and mine was too small also, so we decided to have new ones instead as they were only 9 ct gold cheap rings. Our present to each other.
Would love to have met everyone but still not sure what all my children are doing next weekend we have to plan our lives around them now they are older lol.
Morning everyone... just a quick visit, as I have to start getting ready for clinic... I have butterflies! lol It is purely routine bloods and see Big Doctor Man briefly, but it always means a lot of hanging around and waiting!
Star, I am glad your big day went so well... and you had beautiful weather for it, too. I bet you looked stunning, too. Congratulations, and long may you continue to love each other so much xxxxx
Morning Ann.... sounds like YOU are going to need a new battery, lol... all that swearing! That is the problem with a holiday.... you seem to have twice as much to do when you get back. :¬((
Well, must get a move on....... I have a hem to sew before I can leave the house, or buttons to sew on if I wear the skirt... sigh!
Love and ((((((((hugs)))))))
