Elisabeth Report 7 Sep 2010 08:42

Morning Daff and the squad,

I hope you manage to find a fetching dressing gown today. We shall await news that you have found something suitable, in orange, pink or lime green of course.

We must have had a fair amount of rain overnight (just checked the level in the water butts) so I won't need to water the grass seed at Mum's or our turf patching.

My birds are really busy this morning - lots of the normal residents and visitors on the birdtable plus a couple of wagtails on the patio and a gorgeous little robin on the doorstep telling me to put more food out.

Have a good day.

Love,
Elisabeth xx

Morning all.... It is a beautiful day, I have slept with only two coughing fits, all night, and have just got up and having my first cuppa. Bliss!!

Beverley, thanks for that, I'll check. I have a suspicion that there is a licence which covers the transplant unit, and some long stay units too, I have a vague recollection of it while I was in last.

I will not be able to use headphones that someone else has used, even though they will have been cleaned, so won't be able to use the ones that are provided and that you have to pay for. It costs about 30 or 40 quid a month, plus we have to pay for parking there, so it works out pretty expensive otherwise, lol.... which is offset of course by R not needing to pay the Severn Bridge Toll every day, but even so... and the screen is just sooooo tiny. I only watch two programmes, it is the films I am more interested in, so as long as I can find a way of watching Bambi and Dumbo I shall be happy, lol.

Aw bless, Elisabeth. We have a back garden robin and a front garden robin, and if they meet around the side they fight like cat and dog!!

Ginnie and Jean, I shall do a trawl in a mo..... thank you for that info. R tells me that there is a dark purple mens in A**a that he will get if all else fails. I don't mind a man's once and in an emergency, but would like a pretty one for the rest of the time, lolol I promise not to wander starkers, though... don't want to frighten the children, do we? This isn't done in the theatre, it is done down at x ray, as they need to have do it with a scan running, to make sure it goes into the right spot. It goes straight into the artery, and then down into the chest, which is where the line comes out for the world to see, lol.... my best mate Winston Churchil, aka Winnie the Hickman line. He makes life so much easier, as everything goes into him... chemo, other meds, fluids, whatever, and also, it makes taking blood so much easier... I will have blood taken twice a day sometimes. As long as he stays healthy, Winnie will be my bestest mate for about a year. They had to take him out last time, because they suspected an infection.... of course, it wasn't, not there, anyways.

BC, poor doggie.... Hermie, who is longhaired, is feeling the moult, too... and he only really lets me get rough with the brush, he bites R eventually, but I can do anything and he just takes it. But he is my baby. Poor thing will be full of tags by the time I get out of hospital, and I won't be able to do it for him. I have got them some stuff that you stroke into their fur, which helps grooming and bringing up the furballs is easier. So maybe R will have more luck this time. :¬S

Talking of R, he has stocked up with disinfectant, and those bottles of handwash stuff. Antibacterial soap is in the kitchen, bathroom and loo already, lol.... he is a man on a mission!

Maz, our Jessie is like that, too, lol... yesterday was soooo funny, she poked her head out of the kitchen door... nope, it's chucking it down... came around here to the conservatory... I opened that door for her, nope, it's chucking it down here too.... padded to the front door, and yowled to be let out.... nope, it was raining there, too... she was so upset with us, it was funny... and indignant when I shoved her out anyway as she was clearly desperate! lolol

Well, I am off to google, and R is taking me out for a ride in the car... hopefully Barry Island for a recce if the weather is still nice.

See you all later.

Love

Daff, I'm so sorry that the news wasn't good for you, but as others have said, you have beaten it before and I'm sure you will overcome it again. Oh maybe that could be the theme this week, We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome someday;
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe,
We shall overcome someday.

With regard to dressing gowns have you checked the BHS website, and what about an iPod touch to take into hospital with you, as you can download lots of films onto it, in fact that's what I'm using to type this on, the girls downloaded lots of films and tv programmes onto for me to watch when I was in hospital, if you think that an iPod touch is too small then if money allows you could look at an iPad.

Wishing you lots of love and hugs
take care

ATTENSION squad.
Right you lot, lol
I've not long started the yearly Strictly thread over on chat and I must say that our dress sense is 100 times better than here, Julia's hubby has been so busy sewing all the sequins on her dress, I've had mine done professionally.
And we have lovely sparkly shoes not wellies, hahaha.
Take care

Beverley Report 7 Sep 2010 13:10

Whoa Helen

What do you mean? Our uniform is the BEST!!! Plenty of sparkles (not just on the shoes and dress) lots of bright colours, shining buttons, feathers and orange milk bottle tops not to mention the pink cowboy hat. And I bet you don't have baked bean tins to stomp around on, do you? Now if that isn't enough to scare Daff's bugs away, I don't know what is.

I think we all look lovely - don't we?

JustGinnie

JustGinnie Report 7 Sep 2010 13:54

Sorry Helen but I must agree with Beverley our uniform is the best ever, although I wasn't an orange fan in the begining, ask Daff she has the card with the uniform on in all its glory complete with the pink feathers on the hat, it is very fetchng indeed and we have bling on our wellies and 4 inch heels lol.

Yes Beverley we do all look lovely!!

I am sure that the ladies on the strictly thread come a very close 2nd though. lolol.

Hope you enjoy your outing Daff and manage to get everything you want on line.

Wmsl....... Oh dear.... yes, ours is definitely the best.... and no sewing required, just lots of glitter and glue and yers of watching Blue Peter... much more practical as well as beautiful... I mean, imagiine having to prance down the high street permanently locked in the embrace of a tailor's dummy with a perma tan and a perma grin!!

With ours we can let the real you out... scream shout, and yet still be elegantly and tastefully attired.

Besides, I can't stand that programme, and loathe Brucie, always have. ;¬))

Deep breath everyone.... Army is on amber alert... I have just had a phone call from the lovely Mary (scary to any nurse or young doc who gets it wrong, but wonderful with us patients, and is St Mary to us, lol)

I am in tonight. I have another biopsy scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning, then down to have my line in. I have to present myself for inspection before 9pm tonight... so best I start panicking!! lolol

R has gone off for his physio... and I am going for a nice long shower without the worry of getting my line wet... it is a struggle keeping it dry once it is in, so I shall have a nice wallow in it today. He will have a shock when he gets back!!
